POSTING Due to the nature of the events, and not having hole-by-hole scores for all players, we are unable to post scores to the GHIN Handicap System. We will post the adjusted slope and rating on the tournament results page and players must post to GHIN their most likely scores on the day of competition using the adjusted slope and rating provided. LOCAL RULES Local rules unique to each facility will be provided at each course prior to the start of play. EVENT LOCAL RULE - FLAGSTICK For the safety and well-being of all, the flagstick is to not be touched and must remain in the hole at all times. A player is prohibited from making a stroke with the flagstick knowingly removed from the hole or has authorized someone to attend the flagstick and makes a stroke with the flagstick removed. EVENT LOCAL RULE - BUNKERS In alignment of COVID-19 golfing restart rules the committee has decided to remove all bunker rakes from the course. Per USGA suggestion we will played preferred lies which would allow a player to place the ball elsewhere in a bunker without penalty. A ball that comes to rest in a bunker may be marked, lifted, cleaned and dropped within one club length, no nearer the hole. Before being lifted, the spot of the ball must be marked· The ball must be dropped from knee height and both land in and come to rest within the relief area within the bunker. The area in which a player intends to drop may not be improved in any way, including smoothing, raking, kicking or any other action that will materially improve the conditions of their stroke. The act of using a club to measure the one club-length area is permitted, provided it is done in a reasonable way and does not materially improve the area in which the player intends to drop. Upon exiting the bunker, players should make the best effort possible to fill and smooth all footprints. PACE OF PLAY POLICY We want all players to enjoy competing in the PNW Four-Ball Championship. Pace of play may differ depending upon the venue, weather and course conditions. Every player is accountable for playing at an acceptable pace; therefore we need your help. Please observe the following guidelines to help ensure a pleasant tournament experience for all: Make sure to keep pace with the group in FRONT of you. The group behind should keep pace with your group and so forth.

  • PGA.Com Names RI Golf Course in Top 10 Wednesday, July 20, 2011 Golocalprov Features Team
Web article from GoLocalProv.com PGA.com Names RI Golf Course in Top 10 Wednesday, July 20, 2011 GoLocalProv Features Team Rhode Island's Newport National Golf Club has been named by editors at PGA.com as one of the Top 9 (get it?) links-style courses in the US. "I was delighted to see Newport National make the list," writes PGA.com Interactive Producer TJ Auclair, who states "in the interest of full disclosure" that he's a native Rhode Islander. There isn't a bad hole out there "I've played there a handful of times and it is unlike anything else around here -- an absolute delight to play. There isn't a bad hole out there. Each time I arrive at NN after a 30-minute drive from my home, the look and feel makes me believe I should have traveled several thousand miles to get there. What a treat." "Newport National is one of the finest public courses I have ever played anywhere in the world," Auclair told GoLocal. "Having been fortunate enough to cover professional golf for the last several years, I've traveled throughout the U.S., Canada, parts of Europe and the Caribbean. I've played countless golf courses. There's just something about Newport National that makes me smile whenever I think about it. I get butterflies when I know I'm going to play there because it's just such a treat. I feel like I'm off to Scotland for a round of golf, minus the jet-lag and the rain!" Auclair credit Matt Adams, president of the facility, for much of its appeal.
