“The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom” Isaac Asimov

New bylaws to improve coexistence and the use of public spaces On the first of March, four new bylaws came into effect, with the unanimous approval of the plenary of the Town Hall. They concern regulations on various aspects of coexistence in the village. The new bylaws are the following:

Bylaw on the control and ownership of animals. This replaces previous bylaws on the ownership of pets and of potentially dangerous animals in order to clarify the obligations of animal owners and the system of fines if the bylaws are broken. It regulates the ownership of animals, both pets and others kept for other reasons, and, bearing in mind the rights of the animals and the benefits that they bring to people, it regulates all aspects relating to safety and public health and the coexistence of people and animals in order to keep to a minimum any trouble that they might cause.

Bylaw on street cleanliness and rubbish collection. This sets down the duty of us all to collaborate in keeping clean the streets, squares, parks and other public places, setting down a series of behaviour regulations that have to be adhered to. On the other hand, it lays down the Town Hall’s obligations in that it has to provide the village with the necessary means to enable the requirements of the bylaw to be fulfilled, benefitting public health and the environment.

Bylaw on coexistence in public spaces. The objective of this is to keep our public spaces as places of coexistence and public-spiritedness. , setting down the expected rules of conduct and fines for those who disrupt or spoil coexistence or cause damage to items that can be found in public spaces.

Regulatory bylaw on the use of public highways. This sets down regulations on the placing of skips, cranes and scaffolding, building materials and safety fences. It regulates the occupancy of the public highway by kiosks, chairs and tables, publicity material, as well as the placing and occupancy of the public highway during fiestas and other performance, removal vans and hawkers.

PLANS FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

In accordance with the Town Hall’s resolution number 32/2011, dated 21st February, it was agreed to approve the proposal of the Plan for Public Participation of the study of the environmental impact of the project submitted to build a refuge and boarding premises for horses, dogs and cats at polígono 4, plots 454 and 469, by which we make public the application so that residents can participate in the development of the plan.
