“The @ Game” How to Tell Your Neighborhood’s Story Tip 1: Know Your Neighborhood Identify your neighborhood’s: • Identity • History • Culture What makes your neighborhood unique? What is it known for? Consider how can you capture these narratives and share these stories using social media. Congress Heights – “The Soul of the City” - Congress Heights is a diverse neighborhood in the hills off the coast of the Anacostia River. - This community began with the Native Americans who welcomed Colonial explorers. - Congress Heights is home to the official practice facility for the Washington Wizards and home for the WNBA’s Washington Mystics and the Capital City Go-Go, the Wizards G- League affiliate team. Tip 2: Know Your Neighbor • What’s unique about the people who make up your community? • Who are the people who have shaped it and made it what it is today? • What are your neighbors’ hobbies? • How do you all show up for one another? • How do you all stay connected? i.e. block parties, monthly gatherings, etc. • Who are you attracting to your neighborhood? Community Vision Congress Heights is a community where residents are autonomous and self- supporting and where environmental, physical, and economic wealth is created now and for future generations.
