Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan aplikasi i-Bird pada perkuliahan Zoologi Vertebrata pada kelas Aves yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan identifikasi dan kemampuan klasifikasi serta menggali informasi mengenai kemampuan literasi digital mahasiswa calon guru biologi. Aplikasi i- Bird yang dikembangkan memiliki karakteristik berpusat pada mahasiswa, memiliki komponen teori (keanekaragaman kelas aves), konten (berupa foto-foto kelas aves yang diambil oleh mahasiswa), membangun konsep (dengan deskripsi singkat oleh mahasiswa) yang dirancang untuk meningkatkan kemampuan identifikasi dan klasifikasi mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (RnD). Pada tahap implementasi menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain randomized control group pretest- posttest. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 82 mahasiswa semester V yang terdiri atas 44 mahasiswa kelas eksperimen (menggunakan aplikasi i-Bird) dan 38 mahasiswa kelas kontrol (menggunakan buku panduan). Instrumen penelitian berupa 20 soal pilihan ganda kemampuan identifikasi, 20 soal pilihan ganda kemampuan klasifikasi, 25 butir pernyataan literasi digital dan kuesioner tanggapan mahasiswa serta wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan identifikasi kelas eksperimen meningkat (N-gain=0,75) termasuk dalam kategori tinggi dan kelas kontrol meningkat (N-gain=0,42) termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Kemampuan klasifikasi kelas eksperimen meningkat (N-gain=0,54) termasuk dalam kategori sedang dan kelas control meningkat (N-gain=0,44) termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Uji signifikansi dengan menggunakan uji t kemampuan identifikasi dengan p-value sebesar 0,001 dan kemampuan klasifikasi dengan p-value sebesar 0,038 menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan untuk kemampuan identifikasi dan klasifikasi mahasiswa yang menggunakan aplikasi i-Bird dengan buku panduan. Skor rata-rata literasi digital mahasiswa sebesar 75,68% termasuk dalam kategori baik. Analisis multivariat dengan menggunakan Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) dengan uji Bartlett’s Sphericity dengan p-value sebesar 0,95 menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara kemampuan identifikasi, kemampuan klasifikasi dan literasi digital saling berhubungan satu sama lain. Mahasiswa memberikan tanggapan positif, sebagian besar dari mahasiswa setuju pembelajaran dengan menggunakan aplikasi smartphone.

Developing Smart-content in Zoology Vertebrate Class to Enhance Identification Skills, Classification Skills and Raising Digital Literacy of Students in Class Aves

Abstract

This study aims to develop smart content in Zoology Vertebrate in the Aves class which are expected to improve identification and classification skills and to gather information about digital literacy skills of prospective biology teachers. Smart- content developed has the characteristics of student-centered, smart phone applications developed have a theoretical component (diversity of classes), content (in the form of photos of classes taken by students), building concepts (with brief descriptions by students) designed to improve student identification and classification skills. This research uses the Research and Development (RnD) method. At the implementation stage using the quasi-experimental method with the pretest-posttest randomized control group design. The research subjects were 82 V semester students consisting of 44 experimental class students (using the i- Bird application) and 38 control class students (using a guidebook). The research instrument consisted of 20 multiple choice questions of identification skills, 20 multiple choice classification skills, 25 items of digital literacy statements and student response questionnaires and interviews. The results showed that the identification skills of the experimental class increased (N-gain = 0.75) included in the high category and the control class increased (N-gain = 0.42) included in the medium category. The classification skills of the experimental class increased (N-gain = 0.54) included in the medium category and the control class increased (N-gain = 0.44) included in the medium category. Significance test using t-test, the identification skills with p-value of 0.001 and classification skills with p-value of 0.038 shows a significant difference between students using the i-Bird application with a guidebook. The average student digital literacy score of 75.68% is included in the good category. Multivariate analysis using Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) with the Bartlett's Sphericity test with a p-value of 0.95 indicates a relationship between identification ability, classification ability and digital literacy that are interrelated with each other. Students gave positive responses, most of the students agreed to learn by using a smartphone application.
