How long have you worked for the Chamber, and what did you do before? I joined the Chamber in September 2017. I previously worked in residential lettings in Taunton and as a Dental Nurse in several practices across Somerset.

Describe your role in just one sentence. Providing a range of administrative tasks to the Chamber including support, finance, HR and facilities.

What do you like most about your job? The best thing about my job is that every day I learn new things. Also, I get to meet a variety of people. I also really like the people I work with!

How would your colleagues describe you? I would like to think they would say supportive, empathetic, kind and genuine.

What would people be surprised to know about you? I can rap multiple Eminem songs.

Describe your role in just two sentences. My job at the Chamber is to manage and coordinate all marketing outgoings, including the bi-monthly Somerset Voice magazine, regular e-alerts like Somerset Pulse. I also promote our events and other projects.

What do you like most about your job? My favourite part about working for Somerset Chamber is being surrounded by a team who are all equally passionate about helping Somerset be a great place to do business. We came up with the company’s ‘Connect, Influence, Grow’ objectives together, and it’s great to be able to work with a group of people who have shared values.

In this issue, we caught up with David Ralph who was recently appointed as Chief Executive of the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership. David was formerly CEO of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire LEP so brings a wealth of experience to his new role in the South West. Charity Day raises £1,000 for local charities

Wincanton to support UK’s first nuclear power station for a generation

Wincanton, the largest British logistics provider, has won a contract with EDF Energy to provide warehouse and transport services for the construction of Hinkley Point C in Somerset - the first new nuclear power station in the UK for a generation.

Over the life of its 10-year construction, the project will create over 25,000 new job opportunities and will eventually provide 7% of the UK’s electricity.

St. Margaret’s Hospice Glitter Run is a sparkling success

More than 1,200 people enjoyed a fun run with added sparkle as the Glitter Run came to Taunton Racecourse.

The event on Saturday, June 16, was raising vital funds for St. Margaret’s Hospice. Participants, many in fancy dress, completed a 5k course while getting sprayed with non- toxic, biodegradable glitter at a series of glitter stations.
