Live broadcast from Gleaners’ Detroit Distribution Center. All are doubled, supporting Gleaners’ programs that nourish hungry children. The 2016 Radiothon raised over $2 million, providing more than 6 million meals for kids.

Women’s Power Happy Hour Spring 2017

Spirits, socializing and a fabulous silent auction brings over 350 powerful women together to alleviate child hunger. The Happy Hour event kicks off a month long Million Meal Match, providing funds that allow Gleaners’ school food programs to continue through the spring.

Women’s Power Breakfast Spring 2017

Metro Detroit’s powerful women leaders come together to solve child hunger in southeast Michigan. The 24th annual Women’s Power Breakfast will bring more than 600 women together for this important cause. Tickets for this premier social event sell out early every year.

When school ends, hunger sets in. In southeast Michigan alone, nearly 300,000 children rely on free or reduced-fee meals while in school. The Hunger Free Summer campaign was created to ensure that no child goes hungry during the summer. Sponsors match community donations to provide two million more meals to children while school is out.

The campaign engages multiple media channels to promote its message, including: TV news partner(s), radio partner(s), digital ads, email blasts and social media.

The campaign also typically features two to three media events. Past events have included CEOs packing food for kids, sponsors at mobile pantry distributions, and sponsors hosting a community party for children who benefited from Hunger Free Summer.

Sponsorships: Sponsors are promoted through weekly e-blasts, multiple press releases (launch, midway and final), event signage, invitation to be involved in media events, HungerFreeSummer.org and Gleaners web sites and social media pages. The 14th annual Bernie Smilovitz Hunger Free Summer Golf Classic will be a day of great golf, celebrities, food and fun. The outing supports Gleaners’ Hunger Free Summer campaign to raise 2 million meals for children.

Two esteemed chefs battle for the title of Gleaners’ Iron Chef. More than 600 attendees watch as the “secret ingredient” is unveiled and the chefs go head-to-head to create winning plates across three courses. Dozens of area restaurants and sprit makers offer crowd-pleasing samples. Funds support Gleaners’ Shared Harvest Pantry, feeding hungry families and seniors in Livingston County.
