With its lovely architecture and grand style, the opening of the new school was hailed as a triumph for this small community. The beautiful building would host hundreds of students and teachers for over 60 years. In 1974 a new elementary school was built to the east and the Monclova School closed its doors to that chapter of its history.

In 1997, through the efforts of a newly formed “Monclova Historical Foundation,” and with the support of the Monclova Township Trustees as well as the local community, the drive began to renovate the old school. Fall Leaf Collection 1. The township offers leaf collection service to curbed or uncurbed public roadways, whether they are designated as township, county, or state roads. This is a no-fee service which begins mid-October and ends when the leaves are collected and/or when winter conditions are imminent. Remember the drop-off service at Ohio Compost (see below). The procedures are as follows: - It is not necessary to call the township regarding the collection of your leaves. Crews continuously monitor the public roadways in the township. - Leaf piles should be as close to the edge of the road as possible without going in the road. - Crews perform a complete sweep of the township and continue to do so throughout the season. Each complete pass can take up to 2 weeks. Do not call the township for notification of leaf piles unless they have been at curb more than 3 weeks. - We will not collect piles of leaves that are bagged or contain sticks, grass, or non-leaf debris. Those materials can be taken to Ohio Compost (see below). 2. Yard waste disposal is free of charge to township residents at Ohio Compost, 10839 Sager Rd.. Call 419-897-7807 for hours or go to ohiocompost.com 3. Private curbside service is a chargeable item through the vendor of your choice. Landscape companies offer a seasonal program.

The burning of leaves is a violation of Fire Code and could subject violators to a fine. September 2018 Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat

Winter Policies and Township Snow Plowing

Major collector roads and streets are cleared first, followed by residential streets. One single pass in each direction. After an initial pass, the plow will return to widen the cleared area to the curbed area. Snow accumulated on the side discharge blade has no place to go but to the adjacent street and driveways. This is unavoidable. There is no technology that will allow the plow operator to stop the snow coming off the edge of the plow as it passes a driveway. Cul de sac plowing will place snow along the outside of the circle. It is impossible to push the snow to the center of the cul de sac. If the plow blade is turned to the left in an attempt to do so, the potential for the truck to slide sideways increases exponentially creating a hazardous situation. Residents and property owners are responsible for clearing snow from sidewalk and driveways. Snow should be shoveled into the yard, not into the street. You could be charged with a violation of Section 5589.01 of the Ohio Revised Code if you deposit snow in the street. To avoid double shoveling, you may want to wait until after your street has been plowed to the curb before you clear your driveway. It is the property owner’s responsibility to maintain mailboxes, posts and supports in the proper condition and location. As a courtesy, a mailbox that goes down as a result of snow removal operations on a township road is temporarily repaired as quickly as possible to minimize disruptions in mail delivery. If a properly installed mailbox is struck by our equipment, it is restored to original condition when scheduling and weather permit. Improperly installed mail- boxes or mailboxes knocked down by the weight of the snow receive no further repair or adjustment.
