Special Recognition • Senior safety Sean Williams (football) tied for second in the country in forced fumbles with five.

• Senior safety Sean Williams (football) won the Defender of the Nation Award presented by the Charlotte Touchdown Club

• Senior Francis Kim (Water Polo) was the recipient of this year’s Smith-McCool Sword award. This award is presented to the first-class midshipman that has the highest order of merit from the Texas Gulf Coast area. This award is named after two of our fallen shipmates that perished during flight as astronauts – Mike Smith ‘67 (Challenger) and Willie McCool ‘83 (Columbia).

• In August, Nicole Aunapu Mann (Women’s Soccer, USNA Class of ’99) was selected by NASA for training with Boeing’s Starliner, the first crew flight for that vehicle. The spacecraft is set for launch in mid- 2019 from Cape Canaveral.

• Al Cantello, a 55-year member of the cross country and track & field coaching staffs announced his retirement from the United States Naval Academy in August. During his 50 years as the head coach (1968- 2018) of the men’s cross country program, the Mids competed in 12 NCAA Championships, won eight Patriot League titles and defeated Army in 37 Star matchups. Cantello also was on staff with the track & field program, including a stint from 1981 to 1988 as head coach. Altogether, he collected 49 N-Stars during his time in Annapolis, the most in school history.

• The volleyball team won the program’s first Patriot League Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time on the Division I level (since 1992).

• Senior Senen Ubina and Junioir Michael Kacergis paired up to win the 2018 Intercollegiate National Squash Doubles Championship in Philadelphia. Herold and Ubina defeated Navy teammates Jamie Kjorlien and Jack Lentz, 3-2.

• Junior Bradley Buchter became the first Navy men’s diver to earn All-America accolades of any kind since 1996, as well as the first Patriot League men’s diver to garner the laurel, when he received Honorable Mention status by placing fifth in the consolation final in the one-meter event at the NCAA Championship.

• Senior Lauren Barber became the first Navy and Patriot League women’s swimmer to earn Honorable Mention All-America honors at the NCAA Division I Championship when she placed eighth in the consolation final in the 200 breaststroke.

• In June, Nicole Aunapu Mann (Women’s Soccer, USNA Class of ’99) was honored as a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-America Hall of Fame Class of 2019. She’s the first Naval Academy graduate inducted and just the eighth soccer player to join the hall since its creation in 1988.

• Carla Criste, a 27-year member of the women’s track & field coaching staff, announced her retirement from the United States Naval Academy in August. In her nearly three decades at the helm of the Navy women's track and field program, Navy earned six Patriot League team titles (three indoor / three outdoor) with 120 individual Patriot League champions and 20 championship relay teams. The Midshipmen won Patriot League Indoor Championships in 2001, 2009, and 2011 and Outdoor Championships in 2003, 2012 and 2018 with Criste at the helm.

• Rifle qualified for the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2011.

• Senior Ian Burgoyne (Men’s Lacrosse) served as Brigade Commander, the highest ranking midshipman, during the fall semester.

• Senior Greyson Torain (Men’s Lacrosse) was selected in both the Premier Lacrosse League (Chaos LC) and Major League Lacrosse (Chesapeake Bayhawks) Drafts.

• Senior Ryan Wade (Men’s Lacrosse) was selected to play in the 2019 USILA Senior All-Star Game.

• Senior Catalina Rico (Women’s Tennis) selected as the ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award winner in the Atlantic Region

• Senior Noah Song (Baseball) named a finalist for the Golden Spikes, and National Pitcher of the Year

• Senior Christian Hodge (Baseball) tied the single-season record for most home runs with 12

• Senior Noah Song (Baseball) sets the Patriot League record of most Pitcher of the Week honors in a career with 10

• Senior Stefano Pineda (Men’s Track and Field) was named a Draper Fellow, while also receiving the Lemelson Presidential Graduate Fellowship to continue his education at MIT. In addition, Pineda, a mechanical engineering major with a 4.00 cumulative GPA, was also named a LANL XCP Fellowship, a Trident Scholar, and a Bowman Scholar.

• Senior Anne Richter (Women’s Lacrosse) was named a Marshall Scholar, one of the most prestigious honors available to undergraduate students in the US. This year, over 1,000 candidates competed for one of the 48 scholarships awarded. Richter, a mechanical engineering major with a 4.00 cumulative GPA, was one of 29 midshipmen in the class of 2019 selected to be Bowman scholars, and is currently conducting independent research with nuclear applications.

• In January, Lindsay (Rheiner) Carrick (Women’s Lacrosse, USNA Class of ’15) was chosen as the 2018 Marine Corps Semper Fit Female Athlete of the Year. She was recognized at the Commandant’s Combined Awards Ceremony held at Marine Corps Base Quantico. The Marine Corps Athlete of the Year is awarded to one male and one female active duty Marine each year. The winners are chosen based on their athletic skills and how well they embody Marine Corps values.

• Margaret (Morton) Jackson (Women’s Lacrosse, USNA Class of ‘10) was selected for two prestigious awards: a Boren fellowship to study in Japan and a Fulbright grant to do research in China. She chose the Fulbright which will sponsor her research into renewable energy development in affiliation with the Institute of Energy, Environment, and Economy at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Her work will focus on how China has evolved as a leader in renewable energy and how the Chinese government is increasing incentives for distributed renewable energy systems to meet its non-fossil fuel energy target under the Paris Agreement. Before her research period begins, Jackson will spend four months starting in July on language training as part of the Critical Language Enhancement Award.

• The Navy rowing program was selected to represented the United States at the 2019 Henley Royal Regatta in the King’s Cup event. In the 100th anniversary of the first King’s Cup race, 18 Midshipmen and recent USNA graduates will compete in a mixed gender eight-person with a coxswain single-elimination bracketed event against seven other international teams of active duty military officers or undergrad military academy students. The United States Armed Forces team is made up of heavyweight, lightweight and women student-athletes and officers from Navy.

• Karen Boyle, the head coach of the Navy women’s cross country team for 32 years from 1987 through 2019, announced her retirement in May. A four-time Patriot League Coach of the Year, Boyle earned that accolade following each of the Mids' four league titles in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2012. With her support, Boyle's student-athletes attained First-Team All-Patriot League honors 25 times from 2003 through 2018. Her teams at Navy went 21-11 versus Army during her tenure and finished in the top-three at the Patriot League Championship in 12 of 16 years.

• Megan Hanson from women’s rowing graduated in May as the United States Naval Academy Class of 2019 Valedictorian.

• Senior Noah Song (Baseball) was awarded the NAAA Sword for Men, which is presented to that man of the graduating class who is considered by the Association's Athletic Council to have personally excelled in men's athletics during his years of varsity competition.

• Senior Lauren Barber (Women’s Swimming) was awarded the Vice Admiral Lawrence Sword for Women, which is presented to that woman of the graduating class who is considered by the Association's Athletic Council to have personally excelled in women’s athletics during her years of varsity competition.

• Senior Sheppard Wilson (Sprint Football) was awarded the Thompson Trophy Cup, which is presented to that midshipman, male or female, who has done the most during the year to promote athletics at the Naval Academy.

• Senior Benjamin Stewart (Men’s Track & Field) was awarded the men's Coaches' Calvert Award, which recognizes a graduating varsity letterwinner who displayed leadership, consistent effort, loyalty and dedication to the sport and who has taken their abilities beyond the expectations of the coach, peers and themselves.

• Senior Patricia Mattingly (Women’s Volleyball) was awarded the women's Coaches' Calvert Award, which recognizes a graduating varsity letterwinner who displayed leadership, consistent effort, loyalty and dedication to the sport and who has taken their abilities beyond the expectations of the coach, peers and themselves.

Baseball (39-17, 18-7 in the Patriot League) Head coach: Paul Kostacopoulos

• Seniors Noah Song and Christian Hodge earn Patriot League Pitcher of the Year and Player of the Year honors, respectively

• Head coach Paul Kostacopoulos earned his fifth career Patriot League Coach of the Year recognition

• Navy placed six individuals on the All-Patriot League teams. Song, Hodge, Trey Braithwaite and Zach Biggers were selected to the first team and Zach Stevens and Liam Lowery were named to the second team

• Braithwaite was named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List

• Song earned First Team All-American honors from Collegiate Baseball, Baseball America, Perfect Game, NCBWA, D1Baseball, ABCA, College Baseball Hall of Fame

• Song was a First Team ABCA All-East Region honoree and Hodge earned second team honors

• The Midshipmen captured their fifth-straight Patriot League regular season title after winning the league by three games over both Holy Cross and Army

• As the No. 1 seed in the Patriot League Tournament, Navy earned its first sweep of a Patriot League Semifinal series after beating fourth-seeded Lafayette in back-to-back games, 3-0 and 10-2

• In the 2019 Patriot League Championship Series, the Midshipmen dropped the first game to rival Army, 6-2, but rallied to win game two, 4-2, and force the decisive game three. In the winner-take-all game three, Army edged Navy in a 4-3 contest

• Navy earned its fifth-straight 30-win season after going 39-17 and was just a win shy of its second 40-win season in program history. The 39 wins are also second-most in program history only behind the 43-win season in 2016

• Navy set team program records in strikeouts (527), strikeouts per nine innings (9.96) and saves (17)

• The offense also hit the second-most home runs in program history with 36 during the year, just two away from the program record of 38 set in 2008 and the Midshipmen tied the school record for home runs in a single game with six against Lafayette on March 30

• As a team, Navy produced top-five single-season outputs in games played with 56, walks with 246 and inning pitched at 476-1/3, which are fifth in the program record books

• Song sets program records in career wins (32), career strikeouts (428), career innings pitched (334-1/3), strikeouts in a single season (161), strikeouts per nine innings in a single season that also ranks tied for sixth all-time in NCAA Division I history (15.41) and is tied for most career shutouts with nine

• Navy captured the program’s 2,000th win in its 3-0 victory over Lafayette in the first game of the Patriot League Semifinal

• Michael Coritz and Jared Leins were both selected to the Patriot League All-Academic Team and the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

• Leins, Anthony Cossetti, Thomas Graham, Stevens, Matthew Wilcox, Jacob Williamson and Jake Wilson all earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

Men’s Basketball (12-19, 8-10 Patriot League, Won N-Star) Head coach: Ed DeChellis

• Placed fifth in the Patriot League during the regular season.

• Advanced to the semifinal round of the league tournament for the second time in three seasons when the Mids defeated fourth-seeded American, 60-56, in the quarterfinal round of the event.

• Navy’s win over American in the tournament was the 100th victory in the Navy coaching career of Ed DeChellis.

• Navy defeated Army, 79-68, to win the Star Game.

• Senior Hasan Abdullah earned Third-Team All-Patriot League accolades, was named to the Patriot League All-Defensive Team and was selected to the Patriot League All-Academic Team. This was the first time he was named to each of those three teams.

• Abdullah became the eighth player in Navy history to record at least 100 assists in three seasons. His 351 career assists placed him 12th at Navy.

• Abdullah ended his career ranked fourth at Navy with 181 career steals and fourth with a career average of 1.79 assists per game.

• Freshman John Carter Jr. was named to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team.

• Carter earned four Patriot League Rookie-of-the-Week awards this year. That was the most by a player in the league this season and ties him for third place for the most by a Mid.

• Senior George Kiernan ranked fifth in Navy history with a career free throw percentage of 83.2 percent. Kiernan also stands ninth at Navy with 146 career three-point field goals made.

• Junior Evan Wieck will enter his final season at Navy as the school’s record holder for career field goal percentage with a mark of 64.3 percent.

• Wieck led the Patriot League and ranked 50th nationally with an average of 2.97 offensive rebounds a game.

• Abdullah, sophomore Cam Davis, sophomore Alec Loehr, sophomore Luke Loehr and junior Connor Mannion were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Women’s Basketball (10-19, 5-13 Patriot League) Head coach: Stefanie Pemper

• Went 5-5 in non-conference play to begin the 2018-19 season with victories over North Carolina A&T, Rider, Air Force, Saint Joseph’s and Catholic University. Also challenged itself versus Marist College, Norfolk State, Penn, Colorado and Monmouth. Amongst those 10 teams, five won 17 or more games and three (A&T, Rider and Penn) participated in the WNIT.

• Freshman guard Jennifer Coleman was named to the All-Patriot League Third Team, in addition to claiming a spot on the Patriot League All-Rookie Team. The Mids’ starting point guard led the team in scoring (13.1 points per game), rebounding (8.2/game) and assists (2.9/ game) in her first year of collegiate action. Ranked top-11 in the Patriot League in all three categories (fifth – scoring; sixth – rebounding; 11th – assists) and was the leading freshman player for all three stats in the conference.

• Senior team captain Bianca Roach was one of six players selected to the Patriot League All-Defensive Team. The guard had steals in 24 of 29 games and three or more thefts on nine separate occasions, including five versus American in January. Roach concluded her career with 161 steals to rank 10th all-time in program history.

• Coleman finished her 2018-19 season with 379 points, the third-most by a Navy freshman all-time (behind Colleen Cassidy – 414 in ’78-79 and Cassie Consedine – 398 in ’07-08), and 166 defensive rebounds, a total that is tied for seventh-most all-time with Becky Dowling (‘97-98) and Cassie Consedine (’08-09) in a single- season. Coleman’s 238 combined rebounds were 11 shy of breaking into the top-10 in a season.

• Coleman and fellow freshman Kolbi Green combined to win four Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors: Coleman on Dec. 3, Dec. 24 and Feb. 11, and Green on Feb. 25.

• Coleman led or tied for the team-lead in scoring in 16 of 29 games, rebounds in 18 of 29 and assists in 19 of 29; the Richmond, Virginia native scored in double-figures 19 times and recorded nine double-doubles. Tallied season-highs of 25 points at American and 16 rebounds at Holy Cross.

• Sophomore Sophie Gatzounas earned NAAA Athlete of the Week accolades on Nov. 26, Dec. 24 and Jan. 1. The guard-forward was named to the 2018 Navy Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game, while shooting 59.0 perfect (13-22) from the field in contests versus North Carolina A&T and Penn. For the 2018-19 season, Gatzounas averaged 7.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.

• The trio of Roach, Coleman and Green all finished in the top-five of the Patriot League in steals per game as Roach was third with 2.0 steals per contest, Coleman fourth with 1.8 and Green fifth with 1.7.

• Green added to her freshman statline with 8.8 points game (26th in PL) and 1.6 three-pointers made per game that ranked eighth in the conference.

• Head Coach Stefanie Pemper collected her 200th career win at Navy on December 2 with the Mids’ 66-60 victory over the Rider Broncs on the road. Pemper has guided the Navy program since the 2008-09 season. Only five Patriot League head coaches have reached the 200-win plateau; current coaches, include Pemper, Lehigh’s Sue Troyan and Army’s Dave Magarity.

• Navy won a dramatic come-from-behind road win at Air Force on Dec. 7 as the team was down 12 points at halftime before outscoring the Falcons, 37-18 in the second half. Navy forced Air Force into 15 turnovers and held the hosts to just six made field goals on 30.0 percent shooting in the final 20 minutes of play.

• In the Patriot League team statistical standings, Navy’s defense finished the 2018-19 season with a 57.8 points per game average that ranked third overall in the league. The Mids’ defense held opponents to a 39.7 percent shooting mark that was sixth overall. On the strength of three of the top-five steal leaders, Navy finished atop the Patriot League standings with 10.6 steals per game and turned over opponents 19.4 times per game, tops in the conference by an average of 2.3.

• Nationally, Navy’s 10.6 steals per game average ranked 24th overall, while its 19.4 turnovers forced per game was 36th-best and 57.8 opponent’s scoring average stood 37th.

• Six Mids were recognized on the 2019 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll: senior Bianca Roach, juniors Montana Braxton, Laurel Jaunich and Mary Kate Ulasewicz, sophomore Cayla Hannibal and freshman Cailin Duffy.

Men’s Cross Country (0-1) Head coach: Aaron Lanzel

• Finished in eighth-place at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional at Penn State University. A trio of Mids completed the 10K race in the top-50 as junior Kevin Murray placed 11th overall. Fellow upperclassmen, senior team captain Michael Karls and junior Jake Brophy came in 41st and 44th, respectively in the field of 169 runners. Murray earned All-Mid-Atlantic Regional honors.

• Murray also led the Mids at the 2018 Patriot League Championship, as he raced his way to the individual title. He was the first league champion for Navy since Lucas Stalnaker won consecutively in 2015 and 2016. Brophy (15th place) and Karls (20th) backed up Murray as the Mids finished fourth overall in the team standings. Brophy just missed making the All-Patriot League Second Team as only the top-14 make it.

• Murray and Brophy were named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team. Navy was the only program with multiple student-athletes on the seven-man team.

• Murray was honored as an USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual recipient.

• 15 Mids were recognized on the 2018 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll: Karls, Brophy, Murray, sophomores Dawson Podlena and Quinn Schneider and freshmen John Bowers, Ashwin Briggs, Sean Casey, Miguel Mathias, Wilson McClelland, Luke Murphy, David Nelsen, Hunter Petrik, Brandon Sherrill and Grant Van Valkenburg.

• Navy was defeated by Army in the 2018 Star Meet, 24-34. Brophy and Murray led the charge for Navy as both posted top-25 record times for the USNA 8K course. Brophy crossed the finish line in second place, while Murray was 0.7 seconds back in third place. The Mids’ 12-man lineup had nine underclassmen with three sophomores and six freshmen.

• The program took home four Patriot League weekly honors as Brophy was three-time Runner of the Week, in addition to Nelsen’s Rookie of the Week nod on Oct. 2.

• Prior to the start of preseason, Al Cantello, Navy’s cross country head coach starting in 1968, retired from the program. During his 50 years as the head coach, the Mids competed in 12 NCAA Championships, won eight Patriot League titles and defeated Army in 37 Star matchups. Cantello also was on staff with the track & field program, including a stint from 1981 to 1988 as head coach. Altogether, he collected 49 N-Stars during his time in Annapolis, the most in school history.

• Aaron Lanzel, a 2003 USNA graduate, was announced in August as Cantello’s successor. He competed with the cross country and track & field program during his four years as a Midshipmen, 1999-2003. Prior to graduation he was selected as the recipient of the Class of 2003 Naval Academy Athletic Association Sword. He’s the fifth head coach in the storied history of the Navy cross country program.

Women’s Cross Country (1-0, Won N-Star) Head coach: Karen Boyle

• Earned a hard-fought 24-31 victory over Army in the 2018 Star Meet on Oct. 13. Juniors Grace West and Claire Ostrowski led the way with dominant individual performances. West’s 21:40.18 was the seventh fastest time in the history of the USNA 6K cross country course, while Ostrowski’s 21:50.44 just missed a spot in the top-10 by less than a second. The duo out-paced Army’s top runner by 15 seconds. Senior Ali Valenti placed fourth overall in her final cross country Star Race. The win was Navy’s seventh in eight years over Army.

• Finished in 16th place at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional at Penn State University. Valenti and West completed the 6K race in the top-50 as they finished the race in 38th and 50th, respectively. Navy was the third-highest finishing team from the Patriot League at the meet.

• West led the Mids’ effort at the 2018 Patriot League Championship, as she came in fourth place overall to spearhead the program’s third place result in the team standings. Valenti came up just short of claiming All- Patriot League accolades with West as she placed 16th overall, six seconds out of 14th place, the final All-PL position. Sophomore Emily Craig made it three Mids in the top-25 as she placed 21st.

• Senior team captain Erin McDonnell collected her second career Academic All-Patriot League honor. She’s the fourth Mid in program history to each multiple Academic All-PL distinctions after previously being named in 2016.

• West won a pair of Patriot League Runner of the Week honors (Sept. 4 and Oct. 2)

• Won its home opening race, the Salty Dog Invitational with 18 team points, besting the field of six local competitors. Ostrowski and West went one-two in the individual standings at the event.

•Seven Mids were recognized on the 2018 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll: seniors Rachel Fairbanks, McDonnell and Annika Pearson, sophomores Morgan Bollinger and Annie Imhof, and freshmen Pippin Robison and Maddie Warrender.

• Karen Boyle, the head coach of the Navy women’s cross country team for 32 years from 1987 through 2019, announced her retirement in May. A four-time Patriot League Coach of the Year, Boyle earned that accolade following each of the Mids' four league titles in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2012. With her support, Boyle's student-athletes attained First-Team All-Patriot League honors 25 times from 2003 through 2018. Her teams at Navy went 21-11 versus Army during her tenure and finished in the top-three at the Patriot League Championship in 12 of 16 years.

Football (3-10, 2-6 in the American Athletic Conference) Head coach: Ken Niumatalolo

• Navy was one of five teams in the country that started three quarterbacks in multiple games. Malcolm Perry and Zach Abey started five games each for the Mids, while Garret Lewis started three.

• Navy traveled an incredible 26,496 miles this year to its six road and two neutral site games. The Mids played games in Honolulu (9,706 miles round trip), San Diego against Notre Dame (5,334), Colorado Springs (3,366), Dallas (2,734), New Orleans (2,250), Orlando (1,764), Cincinnati (1,084) and ended the year in Philadelphia against Army (258). Only Hawai’i (38,578) traveled more this year than Navy. Navy and Nevada were the only two schools in the country that played in five different time zones this year.

• The Mids ended up playing five of their final six and seven of their final 10 games away from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. No other team in the country played five of their final six games away from home (Northern Illinois played five out of six away from home earlier this year).

• Navy played the 28th-toughest schedule in the country according to the Cody Kellner Points Index. Kellner has provided various strength of schedule metrics to the USA Today, the Athletic and to the Big Ten Network.

• Nine of Navy’s 13 opponents went to bowl games.

• Defensive coordinator Dale Pehrson announced his retirement after 23 years of coaching at the Naval Academy, including four as the defensive coordinator. Pehrson was tied for the fifth longest tenured assistant coach in the FBS at one school.

• Navy senior linebacker Taylor Heflin and senior safety Sean Williams were named All-East by the ECAC and junior quarterback / slot back Malcolm Perry was named Honorable Mention.

• Heflin led the Mids with 107 tackles and 11.5 tackles for a loss and was second on the team in sacks with three. Williams was third on the team in tackles with 85, was second on the team in interceptions with two, was second on the team in pass breakups with five and was second in the nation in forced fumbles with five. Perry became just the fifth player in school history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons as he rushed for 1,087 yards and seven touchdowns on 172 carries (6.3 yards per carry). Perry was also third on the team in receiving with nine catches for 167 yards and a touchdown.

• Senior safety Sean Williams was named an Honorable Mention All-AAC selection for a second consecutive year. He also won the Defender of the Nation Award presented by the Charlotte Touchdown Club.

• Ken Niumatalolo finished his 11th year as head coach at Navy, making him the longest-tenured coach in school history. With 87 career wins, he is the winningest coach in school history.

• Since joining the AAC in 2015, Navy has compiled an overall conference record of 20-12 (.625), shared a West Division title in 2015 and won the West Division outright in 2016. Navy’s 20-12 AAC record is tied with UCF for the fifth-best record in the conference over the last four years.

• The Mids are 46-13 (.780) at home under Niumatalolo, including a 19-4 (.826) record over the last four seasons.

• Navy senior offensive tackle Andrew Wood was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team for District 2 by the College Sports Information Directors of America. This is the third time Wood has been named to the Academic All-District Team, which is made up of FBS and FCS players from the states of Maryland, Delaware, Kentucky, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Wood carries a 3.60 grade- point average in operations research and will be a Navy pilot upon graduation.

• The defense forced 21 turnovers in 2018 after forcing just 16 turnovers in 2017.

• The Navy defense posted 12 fumble recoveries this season which tied for the 12th most in the country. Senior defensive ends Jarvis Polu and Josh Webb, senior linebacker Taylor Heflin and freshman corner Michael McMorris led the way with two recoveries each, which is tied for the 21st most in the country.

• Senior safety Sean Williams’ five forced fumbles tied for the second-most in the country. Navy forced 17 fumbles as a team by 11 different players.

• Navy senior corner Jarid Ryan entered the 2018 season with no interceptions, but came up with three this year. Ryan also led the Mids with seven pass breakups and added a forced fumble.

• Over the last 17 years, Navy has consistently been one of the top rushing teams in the country, never finishing lower than sixth. This year, the Mids averaged 276.1 rushing yards per game, the fifth best rushing average in the country.

• Junior Malcolm Perry rushed for over 1,000 yards for the second time in his career. He rushed for 1,087 yards and seven touchdowns on 172 carries (6.3 yards per carry) playing both quarterback and slot back for the Mids in 2018. Perry has now rushed for 2,342 yards in his career, which is the eighth most in school history. He will enter next year just 240 yards behind Cleveland Cooper for seventh place. Perry is the first Navy player to rush for more than 1,000 yards in back-to-back years since Keenan Reynolds did it three straight years from 2013-15. Perry is just the fifth player in program history to rush for 1,000 yards in back- to-back years, joining Keenan Reynolds (2013-15), Kyle Eckel (2003-04), Chris McCoy (1996-97) and Napoleon McCallum (1983 and 1985, missed the entire 1984 season due to an injury).

• Perry’s 3,303 career all-purpose yards (rushing, receiving, returns) is just 152 yards behind Chris McCoy for fifth in school history.

• Senior Zach Abey’s 14 rushing touchdowns tied for the sixth most in the country among quarterbacks. His 39 career rushing touchdowns ranks as the fourth most in school history. He tied an NCAA record at Hawai’i by scoring a rushing touchdown on three consecutive carries.

• The Navy offense finished 36-for-38 in the red zone (.947) this year, scoring 29 touchdowns and kicking seven field goals. The Mids finished third in the nation in red zone offense.

• The Mids finished eighth in the country in time of possession, averaging 33:22 per game.

• Senior defensive end Jarvis Polu blocked two extra points this season. The two blocked kicks were tied for the fifth most in the nation. Reggie Gilliam of Toleod led the country with four.

• Navy’s 204 yards passing against Tulane marked the first time that the Mids threw for more than 200 yards since the 2017 Temple game when Navy passed for 226 yards.

• Navy had 15 touchdown drives of 10 plays or more this year, which was the sixth most in the country.

• Navy completed 54 passes on the year for 947 yards. The 17.50 yards per catch was the third best average in the country.

• Navy converted 22 of its 36 (.611) fourth down attempts this year. The 22 fourth down conversions were the fifth most in the country.

• The Mids own a 122-73 (.626) record over the past 15 years (2004-current). The 122 wins are the 23rd most wins in the FBS over the last 15 years.

• Navy senior kicker Bennett Moehring is Navy’s all-time leader in career extra-points made with 141 and he has the record for most career points by a kicker with 222.

• Moehring was 11-13 on field goals this year (one of his misses was a 57-yarder at Air Force) and 34-of-35 on extra points (had one blocked against Tulsa). His .846 field goal percentage ranked 17th in the country.

• Moehring garnered AAC Specialist of the Week honors on Sept. 17 after connecting on all three of his field goal attempts in the win over Lehigh, including a 45-yarder. • Junior punter Owen White will enter his senior year fifth on Navy’s career punting list with a 41.1 average. White has punted the ball 95 times for 3,910 yards.

• Senior co-captain Sean Williams was named the AAC Defensive Player of the Week following his performance against Memphis in both teams’ conference opener. The veteran safety led Navy with 9 tackles, including 7 solo stops and recorded 2 of Navy’s 3 forced fumbles.

• Junior punter Owen White set the school record for single-game punting average (minimum of five punts) with his 51.0 average on five punts against Tulane. The previous record was 50.3 yards by Tray Calisch against Army in 1999.

• White tied his season long with a 58-yard boot. He also had a 58-yarder this year at Air Force. White’s career long is 61 yards against Memphis in 2017.

• Navy’s opening drive against SMU of 18 plays, 78 yards, 11:21 that resulted in a one-yard touchdown run by Zach Abey was Navy’s longest drive in terms of time since its epic 26-play, 94-yard, 14:26 drive that resulted in a 22-yard field goal by Geoff Blumenfeld in Navy’s 34-19 win over New Mexico in the 2004 Emerald Bowl. The 26-plays and 14:26 time are the longest in FBS history for a drive.

• Junior quarterback Malcolm Perry rushed for 223 yards, while sophomore slot back CJ Williams had 104 yards receiving in Navy’s 51-21 victory over Lehigh. It marked the first time Navy had over 100 yards from a rusher and receiver since Nov. 20, 2010, when Ricky Dobbs (154 rushing) and Greg Jones (129 receiving) did it against Arkansas State in a 35-19 win.

•Jarid Ryan’s 100-yard return of a blocked extra-point by Jarvis Polu that resulted in two points for Navy against SMU was the first return of a blocked extra-point by a Navy player since Sept. 20, 1997, when Charles Fisher did it against SMU in a 46-16 win.

Sprint Football (7-1, 4-0 Collegiate Sprint Football League – South Division) Head Coach: Major Jason Dewald, USMC

• On Friday, July 13, then Captain Jason Dewald, USMC – promoted to major during the season – was appointed head coach of the Navy sprint football program. Dewald became the 31st head coach in the program's history.

• Sprint football finished the year 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the Collegiate Sprint Football League – South Division. Navy (South Champion) posted a 24-10 victory over rival Army West Point (North Champion) to claim the Collegiate Sprint Football League title in the second annual CSFL Championship game, played at Torne Valley Sports Complex in Hillburn, N.Y.

• The Navy sprint football team had 15 different players earn accolades, including seven players named First Team All-CSFL and five named to the second team.

• Senior linebacker Sheppard Wilson was awarded the Thompson Trophy Cup, which is presented to that midshipman, male or female, who has done the most during the year to promote athletics at the Naval Academy.

• On offense, junior running back Caleb Champion, sophomore offensive lineman Jim Kenneally, and senior tight end Dane Livengood were selected to the first team. Sophomore defensive lineman Nick Scalise, senior linebacker Dean Rye, sophomore defensive back Grant Hooper, and senior punter George Skinner were first-team defensive selections.

• Sophomore quarterback Braydan Chmiel, senior defensive lineman Shawn Kluchinsky, senior defensive lineman Gavin O'Donnell, junior linebacker Troy Monroe, and senior defensive back Miles Whitlow were all selected to the second team.

• In addition, senior offensive lineman Reid Kaplan, senior linebacker Mason Hooten, and senior linebacker Sheppard Wilson earned honorable mention accolades.

• Sprint opened the season with a 45-7 road victory over Franklin Pierce. For his efforts in the game, junior kicker Jared Swenson was named Special Teams Player of the Week. Swenson scored nine points, converting six PATs, while adding a field goal.

• Despite dropping a 17-14 decision to Army West Point in the annual Star Series Game presented by USAA, senior linebacker Dean Rye was selected as CSFL Defensive Player of the Week. Rye led the Navy defense against the Black Knights, boasting a game-high 17 tackles, including a game-best 10 solo stops.

• Navy rolled over Mansfield in the CSFL-South Division opener, posting a 55-6 victory. Junior linebacker Troy Monroe and senior kicker Jared Swenson were selected at the Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively. Monroe recorded four tackles, including three solo stops, posting a team-high 3.0 tackles for loss, including a team-best 2.0 sacks. In addition, he forced two fumbles, while also recovering a fumble. Swenson, who picked up his second CSFL honor of the season, scored 17 points. He was a perfect 7-for-7 on extra point attempts, while knocking in a pair of field goals (29 yards, 48 yards).

• Navy used a strong second quarter to post a 45-14 victory on the road against Caldwell. Senior kicker Jared Swenson earned his third CSFL Special Teams Player of the Week accolade of the season. Swenson finished the game against Caldwell with nine points, connecting on six extra point opportunities and converting a field goal (41 yards) opportunity.

• Navy used a strong second half performance to post a 31-0 victory over Chestnut Hill at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium to secure an opportunity for the CSFL South Division Championship. The Midshipmen's defense held the Griffins scoreless and did not allow a first down in the second half, holding the visitors to 31 yards of total offense in the final two quarters.

• For the second straight season, Navy played Penn for the CSFL South title. With a chance to go to the CSFL Championship on the line, the Midshipmen posted a 20-9 victory over the Quakers. Sophomore quarterback Braydan Chmiel was named the CSFL Offensive Player of the Week. Chmiel finished the game 9-for-14 for 130 yards in the air with a touchdown, while also rushing for 136 yards on 16 carries with a score.

• Sprint closed out the regular season with a 38-7 road win against Post. Navy's offense outgained Post, 422-to-250, including a 243-to-93 advantage in the run game. Junior running back Caleb Champion went over 100 yards in the game, netting 105 rushing yards with a touchdown.

• Navy posted a 24-10 victory over rival Army West Point to claim the Collegiate Sprint Football League title in the second annual CSFL Championship game, played at Torne Valley Sports Complex in Hillburn, N.Y. In the game, Navy outgained Army West Point, 361-287, including a 289-16 advantage on the ground. Defensively, the Midshipmen tallied 53 total tackles, including 5.0 tackles for loss, and 3.0 sacks. The defense broke up 12 passes, recorded an interception, and blocked a punt.

• For his efforts in the championship game, sophomore quarterback Braydan Chmiel was named the Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA) Athlete of the Week, presented by Northrop Grumman. He finished the game with a team-high 183 yards rushing with a touchdown, while also passing for 72 yards and a pair of scores.

• Navy’s offense ranked first in the league in rushing offense (200.1 yards/game), yards per rush (4.9), rush attempts (326), rushing yards (1,601), rushing touchdowns (17), and touchdowns scored (36). The offense was second in the CSFL in total offensive plays (482), total offensive yards (2,714), scoring offense (34.0 points/game), total offensive touchdowns (31), and points scored kicking (56).

• Defensively, Navy was first in the CSFL in sacks (30), interceptions (13), interception return yards (162), interception returns for touchdowns (4), fumble recoveries (10), and turnover margin (+14), while ranking second in scoring defense (8.8 avg/g), rushing defense (58.6 avg/g), and passing defense efficiency (93.9). The Mids were third in the CSFL in total defense (257.8 avg/g).

• Navy was first in PAT kicking made (35) and second in field goals made (7).

• Sophomore quarterback Braydan Chmiel ranked in the CSFL top 10 in rushing touchdowns (1st), yards per rush (1st), passing efficiency (1st), total offensive touchdowns (2nd), scoring (2nd), rushing (2nd), rushing yards (2nd), total offense (3rd), all-purpose yards (5th), passing touchdowns (5th), total offensive plays (7th), pass completion percentage (7th), passing yards (8th), and passing yards per game (9th).

• Junior running back Caleb Champion ranked in the top 10 in rushing yards (1st), rushing (3rd), rushing touchdowns (3rd), yards per rush (6th), all-purpose yards (8th), and total offensive yards (9th), while sophomore running back Kaleb Bodily finished the year in the top 10 in rushing touchdowns (4th).

• Defensively, senior defensive lineman Shawn Kluchinsky, senior defensive back Miles Whitlow, senior linebacker Dean Rye, and sophomore defensive back Grant Hooper led the league in interception returns for touchdowns, while Whitlow finished 10th in interceptions. Whitlow and Rye ranked fifth in interception returns and Whitlow and Hooper tied for interception return yards (2nd), ahead of Rye (4th).

• Senior linebacker Dean Rye and senior defensive lineman Gavin O’Donnell finished ranked in the top 10 in total tackles, ending the season fifth and ninth, respectively. O’Donnell led the league in sacks and tackles for loss, while sophomore linebacker Sheppard Wilson led the league in fumble recoveries.

• Senior punter George Skinner tallied 39 punts for a total of 1,526 yards (39.1 yards per punt) with a long of 60 yards, forced 13 fair catches with a pair of touchbacks and placing 14 punts inside the 20 yardline. He ranked first in punting, second in yards punted, and fourth in number of punts.

Men’s Golf (0-1) Head coach: Pat Owen

• Placed sixth at the 2019 Patriot League Men’s Golf Championship, shooting a 22-over 886 at the Seven Oaks Golf Club in Hamilton, N.Y.

• Freshman Chad Deegan garnered Second-Team All-Patriot League recognition following his ninth-place finish at the Patriot League Championship..

• Senior Griffin Peters led the team with a 74.72 stroke average and placed among the top 10 in a pair of tournaments – 10th at Explorer Invitational, sixth at Navy Spring Invitational.

• Junior Thomas Garbee shot a 75.12 among the seven tournaments in which he saw action and twice recorded top-5 finishes – 5th at Bucknell Invitational, 4th at Navy Spring Invitational.

Women’s Golf Head coach: Nadia Ste-Marie

• Sophomore Christine McDonnell and freshman Shannon Gould were First Team All-Patriot League honorees

• Junior captain Morgan Frazier was named the Second Team All-Patriot League

• Placed second at the Patriot League Championship with a score of 43-over par 907

• McDonnell was a two-time Patriot League Golfer of the Week

• Navy won their first tournament in program history at the Low Country Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, S.C. where the Midshipmen finished first in the 16-team field with a 24-over par 600

• Navy also won the 2019 Navy Spring Invitational with a 27-par 603 to win its home tournament for the first time in program history

• Throughout the 2018-19 season, Navy recorded six top-five finishes as a team and the Midshipmen also finished in the top 10 in nine of the 10 tournaments this season. Navy’s lone non-top-10 finish was the Kiawah Island Classic, where the Midshipmen finish in the top half of the largest collegiate golf tournament of the year with 49 teams in the field

• Navy set a record for most individual top-five finishes with nine and most top-10 finishes with 15. McDonnell and Gould led Navy with three top-five finishes this season and Frazier had a team-best five top- 10 finishes

• McDonnell set the program record of lowest scoring average in a season with a 75.0 and Frazier’s 75.7 is second all-time

• McDonnell lowered her program leading career average to 75.8

• As a team, Navy set a new program-best for lowest scoring average in a season at 304.2, which was 10 strokes better than the previous best last season at 314.3

• The Midshipmen also set the program record of lowest team round with a 5-over par 293 in the third round of the Nittany Lion Invitational. Navy’s 24-over par 600 at the Low Country Intercollegiate set a program record for lowest 36-hole tournament score, while its 30-over par 894 at the Nittany Lion Invitational is the lowest 54-hole tournament score in program history

• Frazier set the program record for lowest 54-hole tournament score by an individual with a 2-par 218 at the Nittany Lion Invitational. McDonnell set the program record for lowest 36-hole tournament score by an individual with an even-par 144 at the Navy Spring Invitational

• Frazier represented the Navy on the Patriot League All-Academic Team

• Frazier, Gould and Jacqueline Cherry were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

Gymnastics (10-3, Won N-Star) Head coach: Kip Simons

• Finished the year ranked tenth in the nation with a program-best result at the NCAA Championship Meet. Competing at the University of Illinois’ State Farm Center, the Mids accumulated 393.123 points to finish fifth in session one, ahead of (390.859). Combined with session two’s results, Navy placed tenth overall as Army scored a 383.855. Navy’s high bar lineup was the fourth-best in session one with a score of 65.199. Sophomore Ryan McVay and freshman Cash Buske both placed in the top-15 individually on the apparatus. McVay placed sixth overall in the all-around with 78.464 points; he missed qualifying for the championship finals by just 0.367 points.

• A quartet of Mids advanced from Friday’s qualifying meet to Saturday’s NCAA Championship Finals: McVay, sophomore David Toussaint, freshman Dan Clark and junior Ryan Orce. McVay led the way with a 17th-place result on the high bar (13.333 score). Orce tied for 25th overall on the parallel bars (13.133), while Clark placed 30th (13.033) on the pommel horse and Toussaint 43rd (12.266) on the floor exercise, respectively.

• The NCAA bid was the fifth in program history (2009, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019).

• Outscored Army in six different occasions during the 2019 season starting at the West Point Open, later in the Star Meet, 401.1-400.55, next at the All-Academy Championship and in the postseason at the USAG Collegiate Championship, ECAC Championship and the NCAA Championship.

• Highlights from the 2019 Star Meet at Army’s Gross Center include coming from 3.65 points down with two events, the parallel bars and high bar, left to go to winning by 0.55 points and Buske placing first on the high bar with a score of 13.60. Navy’s depth on the p-bars and high bar saw four gymnasts on each apparatus finish in the top-five; 2-3-4-T5-T5 on the parallel bars and 1-2-T3-5 on the high bar.

• Won the All-Academy Championship with 408.5 points over Air Force (402.9) and Army (396.4) for the first time since 2009. As a team, Navy won five of six events and had individuals record 14 top-five results in the service academy competition that was hosted at Navy’s Macdonough Hall.

• Sophomore all-around gymnast Ryan McVay qualified for and competed at the Winter Cup Challenge. McVay placed 29th overall in first session of the national team qualifying meet.

• Hosted the then- four-time reigning NCAA National Champion Oklahoma Sooners on March 16. The Sooners came in undefeated in five straight years and the NCAA Champions in 2015-16-17-18. The Mids scored 400.6 points in defeat after celebrating its three-man senior class of Mitchell Fornek, Mark Pickar and team captain Christian Correale.

• Dominated the 11-team field at the 2019 USAG Collegiate Championship with a final score of 400.7 points. They outscored the five varsity teams at the meet by 15.9 points and club champion Arizona State by 7.15 points. The USAG Championship was just the third in the 37 years of the national competition and first for Navy since 2008. Macdonough Hall hosted the event.

• McVay was the USAG Collegiate All-Around Champion for the Varsity Division with 78.75 points.

• In the event finals of the USAG Collegiate Championship, Midshipmen gymnasts turned in 10 USAG All- American results, including victories for junior Lucas Beltran on the floor exercise and David Toussaint on the pommel horse. The rest of Navy’s USAG All-Americans: junior Frank Bradley (third place on the floor exercise); Dan Clark (fourth on pommel horse); Ryan Orce (second on the rings); freshman Josh Williams (fourth on the rings); Bradley (second on the vault); Beltran (third on the vault); Cash Buske (second on the high bar) and sophomore Max Gerber (sixth on the high bar).

• Head Coach Kip Simons was named USAG Collegiate Varsity Coach of the Year, while assistants Craig Holt and Colin Payne were honored as the USAG Collegiate Assistant Coaches of the Year

• Carried over its postseason success in Springfield, Mass. at the 2019 ECAC Championship. Once again Navy was dominant as the Mids cruised to a 10.5-point victory with a total of 401.15 points. Army was closest at 390.65.

• A quartet of individual event winners led Navy at the ECAC Championship as Beltran won the vault title for the second straight year, same as Toussaint on the pommel horse and junior Ben Provost on the high bar. All three Mids defended their 2018 titles. Williams joined the fray with a three-way tie for first place on the rings.

• Individually, Navy gymnasts collected All-ECAC honors on every apparatus: floor exercise (Beltran and Bradley, tied for second); pommel horse (Toussaint – first, Orce – second, Clark – fourth, sophomore Jake Carlson – fifth); rings (Williams – first, Orce – fourth); vault (Beltran – first); parallel bars (Orce – second, Gerber – third, Correale – fourth, freshman Dhiren Lutchman – fifth) and high bar (Provost – first, Buske – second, Orce – fourth, McVay – fifth). In the all-around, McVay placed third overall to run the Mids total to 18 All-ECAC performances.

• Navy’s coaching staff earned honors once again, this time after the ECAC Championship with Simons ECAC Coach of the Year and Holt and Payne earning Co-Assistant Coach of the Year nods. The trio also picked up the same honors in the CGA East Regional category.

• As a program, Navy gymnasts collected 10 ECAC weekly performance honors: Beltran (Specialist of the Week – three times); Clark (Rookie of the Week – twice); McVay (Gymnast of the Week – once); Toussaint (Specialist); Buske (Specialist); Williams (Rookie) and freshman Nehemiah Baker (Rookie).

• In the national rankings at the end of the regular season (April 8), Navy’s pommel horse and high bar lineups were sixth-best in the nation, while six individuals stood in the top-20: Toussaint (fifth-pommel horse), Beltran (seventh-vault), Orce (tenth-pommel horse), McVay (16th – all-around), Buske (17th – high bar) and Provost (19th – high bar).

• Senior Christian Correale was named Second Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America

Men’s Lacrosse (6-7, 4-4 in the Patriot League) Head coach: Rick Sowell

• The program captured its 800th victory in its 112-year history with an 11-6 win over UMBC on Feb. 15.

• Senior Greyson Torain was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List at the beginning of the season.

• Two Mids garnered All-Patriot League recognition –Torain (First Team) and senior Ryan Wade (First Team).

• Junior Ryan Kern was the recipient of the Lt. Robert T. Bianchi Award, presented to Navy’s Most Valuable Player.

• Junior Brad Alexander was the recipient of the Coach Willis P. Bilderback Award, presented to Navy’s Outstanding Defensive Player.

• Wade was the recipient of the Coach William H. Dinty Moore Award, presented to Navy’s Outstanding Offensive Player.

• Torain was the recipient of the Lt. j.g. Donald MacLaughlin Jr. Award, presented to Navy’s Outstanding Midfielder.

• Senior Ian Burgoyne was the recipient of the Lt. Brendan Looney Award, presented to that player who leads by example, displays mental and physical toughness and shows dedication to his teammates.

• Senior Mike Loscalzo was the recipient of the Vice Adm. E.C. Waller Award, presented to the player who displays spirit, morale and dedication.

• 10 Navy players were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll – Ian Burgoyne, Ryan Chase, Christian Daniel, Nick Franchuk, Sam Kopf, George Martin, Colin Meehan, Jimmy Rubino, John Salcedo and Logan Spilker.

• Daniel and Franchuk were named to the 2019 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse All-Academic Team.

• Daniel was named a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 First Team and appeared on the national ballot for Academic All-America recognition.

• Daniel is ranked #61 in the Class of 2021 in Academic Order of Merit, #2 in Military Order of Merit and #13 in Overall Order of Merit.

• Burgoyne graduated with distinction and was ranked 110th among the Class of 2019 in Overall Order of Merit, #119 in Academic Order of Merit and #59 in Military Order of Merit.

• Burgoyne served as Brigade Commander, the highest ranking midshipman, during the Fall semester.

• Burgoyne was selected as a candidate for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award, having achieved in community, classroom, character and competition.

• Burgoyne was selected by a vote of his teammates to wear jersey #40 in honor of fallen Navy SEAL and former Navy lacrosse player Lt. Brendan Looney, who was killed in Afghanistan on Sept. 21, 2010.

• Jack Sweeney and Ryan Wade were the lone Navy players who produced a point in all 13 games in 2019

• Nick Barry is one of just two freshmen in program history to win 100 draws in a season and closed out his rookie season ranked second on the Mids’ all-time freshman faceoff wins leader board (134), as well as faceoff attempts (264).

• Barry was one of 17 freshmen nationwide who took at least 75 percent of their respective team’s draws this season and the only freshman draw specialist in that category in the Patriot League.

• Barry stands 14th on the Mids’ all-time wins leader board and his 134 faceoff wins is the 10th-best single- season mark in program history.

• Nick Cole and classmate Jack Sweeney scored 29 and 23 points in 2019, respectively. It’s the first freshman tandem to score 20 points each since Tucker Hull and Sam Jones scored 38 points apiece in 2011.

• A starter in all 13 contests at attack, Daniel closed out the year as Navy’s second-leading scorer with 43 points on a team-best 31 goals and 12 assists. His 31 goals are tied as the 20th most in a single season in program history.

• Daniel was named to the USILA Team of the Week after producing a career-high eight points on five goals and three assists in the win over #16 Boston U. He played a role in six of Navy’s seven goals in its second-half comeback.

• Kern finished the season with 167 saves which tied as the 15th most by a Navy player in a single season and the most since RJ Wickham recorded 188 saves in 2010. He is one of just 2 players in the last 20 years who rank among the top 15 on the single-season list.

• He was ranked #12 nationally in saves per game (12.85), #22 in save percentage (53.2) and #48 in goals against average (12.00).

• He currently stands 10th on the Mids’ all-time saves list with 416 and is one of only 10 goalkeepers in school history to reach 400 saves.

• Jack Sweeney’s eight caused turnovers are tied as the seventh most by a Navy freshman.

• Joe Miller closed out the year ranked eighth on Navy’s all-time freshman faceoff wins (26) and attempts (53) leader board.

• Torain was selected in both the Premier Lacrosse League (Chaos LC) and Major League Lacrosse (Chesapeake Bayhawks) Drafts.

• Torain was Navy’s third-leading scorer with 37 points on 24 goals and 13 assists

• Torain started every game in which he played at Navy (57 gms = 16 Fr / 14 So / 14 Jr / 13 Sr).

• Torain produced a point in 50 of the 57 games over his career. He was without a point 4x as a freshman (Delaware, Lehigh, Army, Yale), 1x as a sophomore (Penn), 1x as a junior (Penn) and 1x as a senior (UMBC).

• Torain tied Dennis Nealon (1988-91) for 16th on Navy’s all-time points scored list with 132 (83G, 49A). He was just two points outside of the top 15 and 12 outside of the top 10.

• Torain (132 pts) ranked third among midfielders in Navy scoring history, trailing second-place Brian Keith (1987-90) by two. Glen Miles (1983-86), who played one season at attack, is the highest-scoring midfielder in program history with 140 points.

• Torain ranked 13th in school history in career goals with 83. He was just four goals outside of the top 10.

• With 3 assists in his final collegiate game (Boston U., 4.26), he added his name to the Mids’ all-time assists leader board with 49 for his career (20th).

• Torain is one of only 10 Navy players who are ranked among the program’s top 20 in points (#16), goals (#13) AND assists (#20).

• Wade and Torain were among the seven midfielders in program history to score 30 points multiple times in their careers - Torain (2017-18-19), Ryan Wade (2018-19), Graham Gill (2004-05), Jamie Slough (1992- 93-94), Brian Keith (1989-90), Glen Miles (1984-86) and Mike Chanenchuk (1977-78-79).

• For the first time in program history, Navy had two midfielders -Torain (19-14=33) and Ryan Wade (9- 24=33) - who each scored 30 points in the same season (2018). Torain and Wade did it again in 2019 with Wade leading the Mids in the scoring column with 48 points, while Torain was third with 37 points.

• Wade was selected to play in the 2019 USILA Senior All-Star Game.

• Wade graduated having owned the nation’s 10th-longest scoring streak with a goal OR an assist in each of the last 37 contests of his career. He produced 106 points on 37 goals and 69 assists during the streak. He also dealt out an assist in each of the last 34 games in which he played.

• A starter in all 13 games at midfield, Wade was Navy’s leading scorer with 48 points on 20 goals and a team-high 28 assists. The 28 assists were just one outside of the Mids’ top-20 single-season list.

• Wade is the first Navy midfielder to score 40 points in a season since 1989 (30 years) when Brian Keith scored 53 points on 41 goals and 12 assists.

• He is Navy’s first 40-point scorer since attackman Patrick Keena produced 55 points on 24 goals and 31 assists in 2016.

• Behind his two-goal performance against Boston U. (4.26) in the season finale, he joined 1986 MacLaughlin Award winner Glen Miles (23G, 30A in 1986) as the only two midfielders in school history to score 20 goals and deal out 20 assists in a single season.

• Wade was ranked 19th nationally and fourth in the Patriot League in assists per game (2.15). His 3.69 points per game stood sixth in the league and 47th nationally.

• Among the 43 games Wade played in over his career, he was held without a point just three times (Yale and Brown in 2016 where he got one shift in both games, Boston U. in 2017).

• Wade ranked eighth on Navy’s all-time career assists list with 77. It’s the most assists by a Navy player since Jon Birsner amassed 105 from 2003-06.

• Wade tied for 21st on Navy’s all-time points list with 119 alongside Mike Chanenchuk (1976-79). Wade also tied Chanenchuk for fourth among midfielders in Navy scoring history.

Women’s Lacrosse (16-5, 8-1 Patriot League, Won N-Star) Head coach: Cindy Timchal

• Finished the season 16-5 overall, placing second in the Patriot League during the regular season with an 8-1 conference mark.

• Navy make its seventh appearance in the NCAA Tournament — third consecutive. The Midshipmen earned automatic berths into the postseason in six seasons, winning the Patriot League Tournament championship (2010, ’11, ’12, ’13, ’17, ’18), however, this season Navy earned its first at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament, becoming the second team from the Patriot League to ever earn an at-large bid into the postseason.

• Women's lacrosse posted a 16-5 victory over #24 High Point in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament at Klöckner Stadium in Charlottesville, Va. to advance to the second round for the third consecutive season. The win gave Navy six NCAA Tournament victories in the past three seasons. In addition, the 11-point victory is the second-largest postseason win in program history, falling just shy of matching the 12-point victory Navy had over UMass (W, 23-11) in the 2017 Final Four run.

• Navy put forth a valiant effort against #6 Virginia on a rainy afternoon at Klöckner Stadium in Charlottesville, Va., but ultimately fell, 15-12, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to end the season.

• The Midshipmen finished the 2019 season ranked #16 according to the IWLCA Coaches Poll. Navy was ranked #18 according to Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, while ranking #15 by US Lacrosse Magazine.

• Navy was ranked in the women’s lacrosse polls throughout the entire season. Navy started the season ranked #13 according to the IWLCA Coaches Poll, #15 per Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, while ranking #16 by US Lacrosse Magazine. The Midshipmen have been ranked nationally for 31 consecutive weeks, dating back to the final poll of 2017.

• Navy added four victories over ranked opponents in 2019 to give the Midshipmen 10 wins against ranked foes all-time. Navy defeated #19 Towson (W, 14-13), #11 Florida (W, 14-13), #23 Georgetown (W, 16-9), and #24 High Point (W, 16-5 in the NCAA Tournament). All 10 of Navy’s victories over ranked opponents have come since May 2017.

• Junior Kelly Larkin was named Second Team Media All-American by Inside Lacrosse as announced by the publication. It is the third time that Larkin has been selected All-American by Inside Lacrosse and the second time she has been named to the second team.

• Prior to the season, Larkin was selected to the IL Preseason Media All-American third team, while also earning Third-Team Midseason All-American distinction in April. In addition, she was named to the second team as a sophomore, and tabbed IL Rookie of the Year as a freshman, claiming honorable mention accolades in 2017.

• Junior attacker Kelly Larkin was named Third Team All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Larkin became the third player in school history to be named IWLCA All-American, joining Jenna Collins (First Team 2018) and Jasmine DePompeo (Third Team 2013).

• In May, Kelly Larkin was selected IWLCA First Team All-South Region. It is the second time in her three- year career that Larkin has been named First Team IWLCA All-South Region. Larkin joined Jenna Collins (2015-18), Jasmine DePompeo (2010-13), and Loren Generi (2012-15) as the only Midshipmen in school history to earn multiple IWLCA All-Region distinctions.

• The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its Division I Awards and All-ECAC selections in women's lacrosse for the 2019 season, and Kelly Larkin was selected First Team All-ECAC. The selection marks the second time that Larkin has been named All-ECAC and the first time for the attacker to be selected to the first team.

• Senior Anne Richter was named First Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

• Seniors Gab Harchelroad and Anne Richter were selected to play in the 2019 IWLCA Senior All-Star Game.

• Five members of the Navy women’s lacrosse team were named to the 2019 All-Patriot League Team, including junior Kelly Larkin who was named the Patriot League Attacker of the Year. Four of Navy's five all-league selections were named to the first team. Senior Andie O'Sullivan, junior Kayla Harris, senior Marie Valenti joined Larkin on the first team, while junior Annalise Heyward was named Second Team All-Patriot League.

• The Patriot League announced its 2019 Women’s Lacrosse Academic All-Patriot League Team and Navy seniors Anne Richter and Marie Valenti were among those selected. For Valenti, it is her third time being named to the All-Academic Team, while it is the first time for Richter to be recognized.

• Navy placed three players – junior Annalise Heyward, junior Kelly Larkin, and sophomore Nicole Victory – on the Patriot League All-Tournament Team.

• Seven different Navy players combined to record 16 Patriot League weekly awards on the year. Junior Kelly Larkin earned Patriot League Attacker of the Week five times (March 4, March 18, April 1, April 15, April 29). Juniors Annalise Heyward (Feb. 18) and Kayla Harris (Feb. 25) were tabbed PL Midfielder of the Week one time apiece. Defensively, junior Natalie Irwin earned Defender of the Week on Feb. 11, while senior Marie Valenti claimed the honor twice (March 4, March 18). Senior Gab Harchelroad was tabbed Goalkeeper of the Week twice (Feb. 18, April 15). Freshman Reagan Roelofs was named Rookie of the Week four times (Feb. 25, March 11, March 18, April 15).

• Junior Kelly Larkin became the first player in Patriot League history to record three 100-point seasons. Larkin led the team with 121 points on a team-high 69 goals and team-best 52 assists. She scored at least one goal in all 21 games, including netting hat tricks in 14 games.

• Junior Kelly Larkin set the Navy and Patriot League record for career points with 346, passing Jasmine DePompeo (2010-13) for the all-time record. DePompeo finished with 336 points in four seasons for Navy. As a junior, Larkin ranks second in Navy history with 161 assists (six shy of first place) and fifth in career goals with 185 (39 shy of first place).

• As a team, the 2019 squad finished in the program's top three in points (494), points per game (23.52), goals (323), assists (171), assists per game (8.14), shots (709), shots on goal (528), draw controls (358), draws per game (17.05), caused turnovers (188), and games played (21).

• On April 25, The Tewaaraton Award announced the names of the final 25 women’s lacrosse players in contention for the annual award given to the most outstanding American college lacrosse player junior attacker Kelly Larkin was named to the list. The initial Tewaaraton Award Watch List (50 student- athletes) was announced on Thursday, Feb. 28, and Larkin was named to the list. In addition, Greyson Torain of Navy men’s lacrosse was also selected to the initial watch list. The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.

• With 10 points (4g 6a) at #23 Georgetown, junior Kelly Larkin became the fourth player in Navy history (sixth in the Patriot League) to record 300 or more points in a career. Larkin, who holds the school and conference record with 346 points, is one of the eight total players in program history who have amassed 200 or more points in a career.

• Junior Kelly Larkin scored two goals in the Patriot League Championship against #11 Loyola to pass Jasmine DePompeo (2010-13) for Navy’s (and the Patriot League’s) all-time point record. DePompeo finished her Navy career with 336 points (169g 167a).

• Junior Kelly Larkin is second all-time in Navy’s history with 161 assists. She is one of just three players in Navy program history with 100 or more helpers. She trails only Jasmine DePompeo (2010-13) who set the program record with 167 assists. In addition, Larkin holds the school record with 2.44 assists per game.

• Junior Kelly Larkin ranks fifth in school history with 185 career goals and is 14 goals back of tying Erin Rawlick (2008-10) for fourth all-time with 199. The junior is one of 13 players in Navy history to amass 100 or more career goals.

• With three goals on Senior Day against Lafayette, senior Andie O’Sullivan became the 13th player in Navy history to score 100 or more goals in a career. She finished her career with 108 goals.

• Junior Kayla Harris ranks fifth all-time in Navy’s career draws list. She has 183 and is 17 shy of becoming the fifth player in program history with 200 or more draws. In addition, Harris ranks fifth in draw controls per game with 2.90 (minimum of 40 games played).

• In one season, freshman Reagan Roelofs ranks eighth with 146 draws. She is four (4) back of Caitlin Mandrin Hill (2008-11) for seventh all-time with 150.

• Reagan Roelofs is the second freshman in school history to record 100 or more draws in a season. She joined Loren Generi (2012-15) who recorded 118 as a freshman in 2012. With a single-game record 18 draws against Army West Point in the Patriot League Semifinals, Roelofs broke Generi’s Navy freshman record. Roelofs finished her rookie campaign seven (7) draw controls shy of Generi’s single-season record of 153 draws set her senior season in 2015. Roelofs would rank first in career draw controls per game with 6.95, but she does not meet the minimum number of games played, yet.

• Senior Andie O’Sullivan and junior Annalise Heyward are also members of the 100-draw club. Heyward ranks ninth with 120 draws, while O’Sullivan is 10th all-time with 114 draws.

• With a caused turnover against Bucknell, senior Marie Valenti became the sixth player in Patriot League history (first in Navy history) with 100 or more caused turnovers in a career. Valenti finished her career with a Navy record 114 CTs. In addition, Valenti ended her time at Navy ranked first in caused turnovers per game with 1.34.

• Senior Andie O’Sullivan finished her career ninth all-time in Navy history with 48 caused turnovers, tied with Loren Generi (2012-15).

• With six ground balls against Colgate, senior Marie Valenti passed Kierstin King (2009-12) for first all- time in Navy history in ground balls. Valenti finished her Navy career with 181 ground balls, and ranked first in ground balls per game with 2.13.

• Women's lacrosse jumped out to an 8-0 lead early and never looked back as the Midshipmen cruised to a 21-8 victory over Army West Point. The Mids improved to 4-0 over the Black Knights all-time, including a 2-0 mark in the Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA.

• Women's lacrosse used a record-breaking night to post a 20-10 victory over rival Army West Point in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament. The Mids tied the school record with 26 draw controls on the night as a team. Freshman Reagan Roelofs broke the Navy and Patriot League Tournament single-game record with 18 draws in the game. The previous Patriot League Tournament record was set by Sabrina Tabasso in 2017, while the Navy single-game record was 15, held by Julia Collins (2015-18) and Loren Generi (2012-15). The rookie also surpassed Generi's freshman record of 118 draws.

• With a win against Army West Point in the Patriot League Semifinals, the Midshipmen advanced to the championship against top-seeded Loyola. The championship game marked the fifth consecutive year the two teams met in the title game. The Greyhounds recorded victories at home in 2015, ‘16, and ‘19 while the Mids captured the tournament title in 2017 and 2018.

• Senior Anne Richter was a finalist for the Women’s Division I Yeardley Reynolds Love (“YRL”) Unsung Hero Award. The YRL Unsung Hero Award recognizes the accomplishments of student-athletes who help their teams achieve success in ways that may not be measured in goals, saves or ground balls. This honor places value on characteristics that are often undervalued in the competitively charged environment of college lacrosse. The Award recognizes the athlete who makes a significant contribution to the team while also bringing joy to teammates. The award recipients exhibit leadership as a positive role model and also are involved in community service.

• Senior Anne Richter was named a Marshall Scholar, one of the most prestigious honors available to undergraduate students in the US. This year, over 1,000 candidates competed for one of the 48 scholarships awarded. Richter, a mechanical engineering major with a 4.00 cumulative GPA, was one of 29 midshipman in the class of 2019 selected to be Bowman scholars, and is currently conducting independent research with nuclear applications.

• In January, Lindsay (Rheiner) Carrick (2014-15) was chosen as the 2018 Marine Corps Semper Fit Female Athlete of the Year. She was recognized at the Commandant’s Combined Awards Ceremony held at Marine Corps Base Quantico. The Marine Corps Athlete of the Year is awarded to one male and one female active duty Marine each year. The winners are chosen based on their athletic skills and how well they embody Marine Corps values.

• Margaret (Morton) Jackson (2010) was selected for two prestigious awards: a Boren fellowship to study in Japan and a Fulbright grant to do research in China. She chose the Fulbright which will sponsor her research into renewable energy development in affiliation with the Institute of Energy, Environment, and Economy at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Her work will focus on how China has evolved as a leader in renewable energy and how the Chinese government is increasing incentives for distributed renewable energy systems to meet its non-fossil fuel energy target under the Paris Agreement. Before her research period begins, Jackson will spend four months starting in July on language training as part of the Critical Language Enhancement Award.

Rifle (10-5, 5-3 in the GARC, Won N-Star) Head coach: Mike Anti

• Junior Kestrel Kuhne named Honorable Mention All-American in air rifle. Also earned Second Team All- GARC in air rifle and Honorable Mention All-GARC in combined

• Head coach Mike Anti was named the GARC Coach of the Year and assistant coach Lou MacKenzie was named the CRCA Assistant Coach of the Year.

• Navy defeated Army in the 2019 Star Match, 5,846-5,822.

• Navy placed second at the All-Academy President’s Trophy Match, which it hosted, with a total score of 5,829

• The Midshipmen placed seventh overall at the NCAA Championships with a combined scored of 4,642. Placed sixth in smallbore (2,298) and seventh in air rifle (2,344). Qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2011.

• Navy finished fifth at the GARC Championships with a total score of 4,652. Had the third-best air rifle score in the nine-team field with a 2,354. Placed seventh in smallbore with 2,298.

• The Midshipmen posted a season-high in smallbore and aggregate scoring against Army with a 2,332 and 4,680, respectively. Navy’s season-best air rifle came in a tri-match against Akron and North Carolina State with a 2,362, which set a new program record. Navy’s smallbore mark of 2,332 also set a new program record in the discipline.

• Kestrel Kuhne led the Midshipmen in both disciplines and aggregate scoring. She posted an average of 576.4 in smallbore and 589.2 in air rifle while averaging 1,166.2 overall. She had the highest air rifle score on the team during the 2018-19 season with 595s on two different occasions. Her air rifle is currently third all-time in program history and her two 595s are tied for the best round in program history.

• Senior captain Josh Watson -- who finished second on the team in smallbore average at 576.2 -- had the best smallbore round on the year with a 584 in the Star Match against Army.

• Sophomore Torrance Kang was named Navy’s GARC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Heavyweight Rowing (8-3) Head coach: Rob Friedrich

• The Mids entered four boats in competition at the 2019 IRA National Championship in Gold River, California. Three of the four crews qualified for petite finals and all three of those, the 2V8, 3V8 and V4 all placed tenth overall in the nation. Navy’s first varsity crew finished 14th overall after coming in second in the class’ C-Final. As a program, Navy placed 11th in the Ten Eyck team point standings with 88 points, a two-position and 14-point improvement from its most recent IRA competition.

• Navy had four of its six boats race in either grand or petite finals at the Eastern Sprints. All six entries finished in the top-10, including medal-winning results for the Mids’ 5V8 and 6V8, who both placed runner-up in their respective events. The first varsity eight crew crossed the finish line in fourth place in the V8 petite final to rank tenth overall at the competition. In the Rowe Cup team standings, Navy finished in ninth place.

• Ranked 12th nationally in final regular season USRowing Collegiate Poll.

• The varsity eight went 8-3 in the regular season, picking up wins against #10 Cornell, #13 George Washington, #15 Columbia, #16 Penn, #21 Drexel, #22 Georgetown, #23 Hobart and Holy Cross

• The team combined to go 10-0 at the George Washington Invitational to win the Oliver T. Carr Bowl.

• Eight members of the 2019 Navy heavyweight team were selected to represent the Naval Academy and the United States under the United States Armed Forces banner at the 2019 Henley Royal Regatta and the King’s Cup competition: seniors Owen Firebaugh and Brandon Sagawinia, juniors Jacob Klosowski, John Lamb and Jared Taintor and freshmen Matthew Catanoso, Griffin Dunne and James Pushner.

• Juniors Andrew Knoll and John Lamb were invited to the USRowing Men’s Under-23 Selection Camp with the opportunity to compete at the 2019 World Under-23 Championships in late July.

Lightweight Rowing (2-5) Head coach: Shawn Bagnall

• Navy’s varsity four with a coxswain, as well as its varsity four without won boat titles at the 2019 IRA National Championship to run the program’s streak of at least one boat title to three straight years. Seniors Clay Jackson and Matthew Pentaleri, as well as juniors Noah Chaskin and Creig Tarrant made up the V4- crew, while the V4+ consisted of senior Patrick Watler, juniors Kaden Dohm and Christophe Theodore, and freshmen Andy Laberee and Myles Knight.

• Overall at the IRA National Championship, the Mids entered three boats and finished in a tie for second place with Princeton in the team point standings. Headlined by the V4+ and V4- victories, as well as a sixth-place result by the first varsity eight crew, Navy tallied 57 points, three shy of Cornell’s championship-winning 60 points. This was the sixth straight year that Navy raced multiple boats at the IRAs.

• Finished the regular season ranked eighth nationally in the USRowing Collegiate Poll

• At the Eastern Sprints, Navy finished third overall in the Jope Cup standings with 27 team points. The Mids had five of its six boats in grand final action with just the second varsity eight in a petite final. Navy's third crew highlighted the all-day action with a victory in its respective classification, while its first varsity crew came in third to earn its best finish since 2006. Navy’s V8 came into the championship seeded seventh in the field. In addition to the 3V8 win and the V8 third-place result, the Mids’ 4V8 finished third, while their 5V8 and 6V8 placed second and third, respectively.

• Tested itself throughout the regular season as all six of its races came versus top-seven national competition.

• Six members of the 2019 Navy lightweight team were selected to represent the Naval Academy and the United States under the United States Armed Forces banner at the 2019 Henley Royal Regatta and the King’s Cup competition: seniors Drew Bennett and Ben Skinner, junior Pat Urrutia and sophomores Riki Gagnon, John Schoenewolf and Chandler Washburn.

Women’s Rowing (2-0) Head coach: Joe Schlosberg

• Navy won its fifth straight Patriot League Championship title with a sweep of the first varsity eight, second varsity eight and first varsity four competitions. The Mids’ perfect score of 54 was six points better than runner-up Bucknell. Navy’s V8 crew was the class of the event at Lake Quinsigamond with 10.846- second margin of victory in the qualifying heat and a 5.964-second win in the grand final over Bucknell, 6:26.834 to 6:32.798. The three-race sweep by Navy was the first at the Championship since 2015 when the Mids went 1-2-3. In recognition of the team’s success, Navy’s V8 was named 2019 Patriot League Boat of the Year, while head coach Joe Schlosberg was tabbed as the 2019 Patriot League Coach of the Year. The league title was the seventh in program history (2005, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019).

• An automatic qualifier to the NCAA Championship for the sixth time, Navy competed as one of 22 DI programs at the national regatta at the Indianapolis Rowing Center. All three of the Mids’ boats (V8, 2V8 and V4) competed in C Finals for places 13 through 18. Navy’s first varsity eight led a strong performance with a 15th-place outcome in its respective class. The Mids’ V4 took 16th overall, while its 2V8 ranked 18th. With 40 overall points, Navy finished the three-day competition in 17th place, tying the 2018 team for the best result in program history. In the fifth straight NCAA Championship appearance for the Mids and sixth all-time, 40 points are the most for any single Navy team at the championship. Navy was nine points clear of 18th place, Central Florida, who finished with 31 points.

• Seven Mids were recognized on All-Patriot League teams: juniors Raye Brackett and Ashlyn Dawson, sophomore Alexandria Vallancey-Martinson and freshman coxswain Polly Finch garnered first team accolades, while juniors Emily Krulik and Grace Lawrence, as well as freshman Brooke Campbell were named to the All-Patriot League Second Team.

• Senior Megan Hanson repeated as the Patriot League Women’s Rowing Scholar Athlete of the Year. She was joined on the Patriot League All-Academic Team by junior Sam Fox. Hanson’s Scholar Athlete of the Year nod was the eighth-ever for the Navy program and first since Kathleen Heinbach repeated in 2015 and 2016. The pair were two of 11 women’s crew student-athletes selected by the conference.

• Five Mids were named as CRCA National Scholar-Athletes: senior Megan Hanson, juniors Giovanna DeVito and Sam Fox and sophomores Elizabeth Downing and Kate Long.

• Hanson graduated in May as the United States Naval Academy Class of 2019 Valedictorian.

• 23 Mids were announced as members of the 2019 Patriot League Women’s Rowing Academic Honor Roll.

• Part of a strong nine-team field of national programs, Navy won the first varsity eight crown at the inaugural Lake Wheeler Invitational and placed second overall in the team point standings. The Mids’ V8 held off #16 Duke and #20 Michigan State in the grand final.

• The Mids’ two regular season head-to-head wins came over Georgetown and Lehigh in the program’s first home meet since 2012.

• The program tested itself versus national competition at the highly regarded Doc Hosea Invitational, Clemson Invitational and Lake Wheeler Invitational.

• Navy had two crews compete at the Hammond Memorial Race during the second week of the season

• Senior captain Vikor Turner led his crew on Tenacious to the win at the Hammond Memorial Race in the PHRF A2 class and junior Hayden Kuzemchak captained his crew on Avenger to the J/105 class victory in the race

• Navy also won the Spirit Rider 9/11 Memorial Regatta

• The Midshipmen won the J/44 class at the Storm Trysail Regatta with George Davis captaining the team

• Navy placed second at the Kennedy Cup, which is the National Collegiate Large Yacht Championship, with Davis leading the Midshipmen’s crew

• The Midshipmen won the Southern Collegiate Offshore Regatta with Davis captaining the crew

• At the Los Angeles Harbor Cup, which is the West Coast’s Big Boat Championship, Navy placed fifth overall

• Paul Jervis won the Cary Arthur Memorial Trophy at the Annapolis-to-Newport Race after leading Ranger to the best corrected time in the fleet

Men’s Soccer (5-11-1, 4-5 in the Patriot League) Head coach: Tim O’Donohue

• Freshman forward Jacob Williams was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year and earned Second Team All-League honors, while also being selected to the United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-Atlantic Region. Williams led the team with eight goals and 12 points, he ranked second in goals and fourth in points in the Patriot League. In the nine league matches, Williams scored seven goals and tallied 14 points, both which lead the Patriot League.

• Freshman defender Matt Nocita was selected to the Third Team All-Patriot League and was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week once. Nocita was the lone player for Navy to play all 1557:22 and anchored the backline for the Midshipmen.

• Junior defender Diego Manrique was selected as the Patriot League Midfielder of the Week once, while freshman midfielder Joe Alex was the Patriot League Midfielder and Rookie of the Week during the final week of the regular season.

• Navy won its last four matches of the season -- all in the Patriot League -- to finish tied for fifth with 12 points but missed the playoffs following the tiebreaking procedure.

• The Midshipmen were one of the least penalized teams in the nation as they were called for just 9.06 fouls per game, which was ninth in the nation and tops in the Patriot League.

• Army-Navy Cup VII was contested at Talen Energy Stadium in front of a crowd of 8,594, which was the second largest crowd at an NCAA men’s soccer match in 2018.

• Navy started its four-match winning streak to end the season with a 2-1 victory over Boston University. The Midshipmen fell behind early in the second half, but a goal from freshman forward Bayne Bentley tied the match and freshman Jacob Williams scored his first collegiate game-winning goal in the 85th minute to secure the victory for Navy.

• Williams continued his strong stretch with his first career multi-goal game after scoring twice on the road against Lafayette to lead the Midshipmen to a 2-0 victory. Against Colgate, Williams’ penalty-kick goal in the 17th minute was all the Midshipmen needed to secure the 1-0 win and keep their postseason hopes alive.

• Navy ended the season on a strong note with a 4-1 win on the road over Bucknell to win its fourth-straight match. Sophomore forward Nicko West guided Navy to the victory with two goals and an assist, while freshman midfielder Joe Alex and junior defender Toni Adewole also chipped in with a goal and assist each. Sophomore midfielder Ernando Manrique and junior midfielder Ethan Singer each recorded an assist in the match.

• Freshman goalkeeper Tyler Fahning started the final eight games of the season and notched a record of 4-4- 0. He made 18 saves and allowed 11 goals to go with his 1.48 goals-against average. He recorded back-to- back shutouts and had a 0.621 save percentage. He was a Patriot League Player of the Week Honorable Mention selection twice.

• Sophomore goalkeeper Ian Bramblett started the first nine games of the season and made 31 saves while being named an honorable mention Patriot League Player of the Week once. Navy’s lone senior, goalkeeper Michael Hurley, made two relief appearances in goal during his final collegiate season. He played 45 minutes on the road at James Madison making one save and played the final four-plus minute in the season finale at Bucknell.

• Over the four-game winning streak for Navy, it outscored the opposition 9-2, while holding a margin of 22- 11 in shots goal. The Midshipmen also held opponents without a goal for 289:50, which stretched from the second half of the Boston University (Oct. 20) to the second half of the Bucknell match (Nov. 3).

• Junior midfielder Matt Benedettini, sophomore forward Phillip Gustafson, senior goalkeeper Michael Hurley, sophomore midfielder Ernando Manrique, junior forward Ben Nicholas and freshmen defenders Matt Nocita and Ryan Teuschl represented the Navy on the Patriot League Honor Roll.

Women’s Soccer (11-6-3, 7-2 in the Patriot League, Won N-Star) Head coach: Carin Gabarra

• Finished the regular season ranked third in the Patriot League with 21 points (7-2); the Mids were two points behind the top-ranked Boston University Terriers (23, 7-0-2) and one behind the Colgate Raiders (22, 7-1- 1). Hosted a Patriot League Quarterfinal matchup versus Army and was downed in sudden victory as the Black Knights scored in the 102nd minute to win 1-0.

• Defeated Army for the 2018 Women’s Soccer Star with a dramatic come-from-behind victory in Annapolis by a score of 2-1. Trailed 1-0 into the 83rd before junior Cadie Higginson scored at 82:18 to tie the game. Less than seven minutes later at 89:16, senior Eleanor Pratt deposited the game-winner as she curled in her shot from 20-plus yards out. 2,200 fans attended the game at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.

• Junior Alex Jackson led a group of five Midshipmen who garnered All-Patriot League playing honors as she was named the 2018 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year. She was joined on the All-Patriot League First Team by junior Baseley McClaskey and Higginson. Freshman Victoria Tran was selected to the All-Patriot League Second Team and junior Sydney Fortson was named to the All-Patriot League Third Team.

• The United Soccer Coaches organization named Jackson to the All-North Region Second Team and McClaskey to the third team. This was the second straight season with multiple Mids on the United Soccer Coaches All-Region team.

• In the ECAC’s year-end awards announcement both Jackson and McClaskey were recognized on the 2018 All-ECAC team.

• CoSIDA named Fortson to its 2018 Google Cloud First Team Academic All-America Team. The junior goalkeeper has now earned honors in two straight years as she was selected to the second team in 2017.

• Fortson and Higginson were each Google Cloud Academic All-District II First Team members.

• Fortson earned the 2018 Patriot League Women’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor, the first Mid since Elizabeth Hoerner in 2013 to win the league-wide honor. Fortson was joined on the Academic All- Patriot League Team by Higginson.

• 11 student-athletes qualified for inclusion on the 2018 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll: seniors MaryKate Helms, Anabell Motley and Pratt, juniors Fortson, Higginson and Lexie Silva, sophomores Kate Asaro, Kristina Dzhandzhapanyan and Molly Swiger, and freshmen Carolyn Mang and Tran.

• Opened the year 2-3-3 in non-conference play before closing the year with wins in nine of its final 12 games. Non-conference losses came versus #22 N.C. State (11-7-4), #19 USF (14-4) and Penn (13-2-1), teams that combined for a 38-13-5 record.

• Team went 5-1-2 on the road, including four Patriot League victories.

• 15 of the Mids’ 23 field players that saw action in 2018 accumulated at least one point. Six players finished with five or more points: McClaskey (7g, 9a, 23p), Jackson (4g, 1a, 9p), Pratt (4g, 8p), Higginson (3g, 2a, 8p), senior Karli Sottung (2g, 1a, 5p) and junior Regan McQuain (1g, 3a, 5p).

• Finished top-100 in NCAA statistical rankings (out of 335 teams) in goals against average (69th-0.917 GAA), shutout percentage (81st-0.4 / 8 in 20 games) and winning percentage (86th-0.625).

• McClaskey was ranked in the top-100 individually in the final announcement of NCAA stats for total assists (21st-9 assists), game-winning goals (60th-4) and points per game (85th-1.21).

• Fortson earned two spots in the top-100 statistical rankings: 46th in shutouts (8) and 59th in goals against average (0.852).

• The Mids led the Patriot League with 27 goals scored and was the fourth stingiest with 19 goals allowed over 20 games.

• McClaskey ranked first in the Patriot League in assists (9) and game-winning goals (4) and was second in goals (7) and total points (23) as the team’s starting left defensive back. This is the second straight season that McClaskey led the league in assists as she had nine helpers in 2017. Between Sept. 7 and Sept. 21, she recorded four goals and four assists over a stretch of five games.

• As a program, Navy collected 10 Patriot League weekly honors in 2018: McClaskey (5-Defensive Player of the Week, 1-Offensive Player of the Week), senior Kayla Robinson (Defensive P.O.W.), Jackson (Offensive P.O.W.), Pratt (Midfielder of the Week) and Higginson (Midfielder). The Mids won at least one award in each of the first seven weeks of competition, including four consecutive Defensive Player of the Week honors by McClaskey from Aug. 27 to Sept. 17

• McClaskey was named to TopDrawerSoccer’s Team of the Week on Sept. 25.

• Jackson led all Midshipmen in playing time as the team’s central defender. She was on the field for 1,859 of 1,864 possible minutes. She was a key cog in Navy’s defense allowing opponents just 3.95 shots on goal per game, the lowest in the Patriot League.

• Senior Ash Fairow finished her career 19th all-time in total points with 51 courtesy of 23 goals and five assists. Her points per game average through 54 contests (0.94) stands eighth all-time. The 2017 Patriot League Player of the Year was sidelined for the entire 2018 campaign after suffering a season-ending injury in the preseason. She also graduates from the Academy ranking seventh all-time in game-winning goals with nine.

• Pratt departs the program just outside a variety of leaderboards as she played in 85 games and tabulated 42 points on 16 goals and 10 assists.

• Through three seasons, Fortson has back-stopped 17 shutouts to rank fourth all-time in the program record books. The top-three shutout totals are 29, 22 and 20, respectively.

• Sottung served as team captain.

• In August, Nicole Aunapu Mann (Class of ’99) was selected by NASA for training with Boeing’s Starliner, the first crew flight for that vehicle. The spacecraft is set for launch in mid-2019 from Cape Canaveral.

Squash (13-7) Head coach: Tyler Osborne

• Finished 16th at the 2019 College Squash Association Team Championship.

• Navy won 11 consecutive matches to open the 2018-19 season and was ranked as high as eighth in the CSA Rankings.

• Senior team captain Senen Ubina, junior Michael Kacergis and sophomore Jack Lentz represented Navy at the 2018 College Squash Association Individual Championship.

• Ubina and Kacergis paired up to win the 2018 Intercollegiate National Doubles Championship in Philadelphia. Herold and Ubina defeated Navy teammates Jamie Kjorlien and Lentz, 3-2.

• Ubina has won his three Intercollegiate Squash Doubles Championships with three different partners, while competing in the championship all four years. Ubina won the 2015 crown with Michael Kacergis’ older brother, Bill, and in 2017 Ubina teamed up with Jack Herold to take the title. In 2016, Ubina and Kjorlien bowed out in the semifinals.

• Ubina and his older sister, Maria Elena, a graduate of Princeton, have won eight intercollegiate titles - Senen with three men’s titles, Maria Elena with three women’s and two mixed titles - more than any other family in squash history.

• Lentz became the 41st different midshipman in the 62-year history of the playing of the Naval Academy’s Barb Tournament to win the coveted trophy, defeating Owen Davis in three games.

• Lentz led the way in the wins column putting together a 16-6 mark, including a 2-1 record at the CSA Individual Championship.

• Ubina closed out his career as just the 11th player in program history to reach 70 wins and finished eighth all-time with a 77-33 record. His .700 winning percentage stands 25th all-time at Navy

• Dylan Sweeney came up just shy of adding his name to the 70-win list, as he closed out his career with a 69-32 mark and the 12th-most wins.

• Kjorlien graduates with the 18th-most wins with a four-year 65-33 record.

Men’s Swimming & Diving (11-3, Won N-Star) Head coach: Bill Roberts

• Defeated Army, 173-127, to win the Star Meet for the 28th year in a row. It is the second longest winning streak in Army-Navy history.

• Won the Patriot League title for the 16th year in a row. That ties the Patriot League record for the most consecutive titles won by a team in any sport.

• Won the ECAC Championship for the sixth-straight season.

• Bill Roberts was selected as the men’s swimming coach of the year in both the Patriot League and the ECAC.

• Rich MacDonald was selected as the Patriot League Diving Coach of the Year.

• Sophomore Ryan Waters was selected as the Patriot League Swimmer of the Year, junior Bradley Buchter was named the Patriot League Diver of the Year and freshman Caleb Mauldin was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year.

• Sophomore Dean Nguyen was named the ECAC Swimmer of the Year.

• Buchter and sophomore Jake Hedrick qualified for the NCAA Diving Championship. It was the first time since 1996 and the fifth time in school history in which two divers qualified for the national championship. Also, Buchter advanced to the NCAA Championship for the third year in a row.

• Buchter placed fifth in the consolation final of the one-meter event to earn Honorable Mention All-America honors. He is the first Patriot League men’s diver to earn the accolade and first Mid to earn All-America status of any kind since 1996.

• Senior Zach Piedt was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

• Piedt, sophomore Daniel Cook, sophomore Luke Johnson, sophomore Micah Oh and senior Michael Velazquez all were named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team.

• Earning First-Team All-Patriot League honors were Buchter, sophomore Billy Cadigan, Cook, senior Vince Everman, Johnson, senior Brayden Lauffer, Mauldin, Oh, Piedt, freshman Ethan Tack, Velazquez, sophomore Dominick Wallace and Waters.

• Earning Second-Team All-Patriot League honors were sophomore Chris Bondarowicz, sophomore Patrick Carter, Hedrick, Nguyen, senior Luke Shereston and junior James Wilson.

• Winning individual events at the Patriot League Championship were Buchter (one-meter diving, three-meter diving), Cadigan (400 individual medley), Johnson (1650 freestyle), Mauldin (100 backstroke), Oh (200 butterfly) and Waters (200 freestyle, 500 freestyle),

• Winning relay events at the Patriot League Championship were the 200 medley relay (Wilson, Velazquez, Piedt, Everman), 800 freestyle relay (Cook, sophomore Jack Dunworth, Waters, Wallace), and 200 freestyle relay teams (Everman, Piedt, Wilson, Cook).

• Winning individual events at the ECAC Championship were senior Greg Arnold (200 backstroke), junior Jac Cortright (400 individual medley), Nguyen (100 breaststroke), senior Nick Pfanstiel (200 butterfly) and freshman Noah Vial (1650 freestyle).

• Winning a relay event at the ECAC Championship was the 400 medley relay team (senior Chipper Machemehl, freshman Derek Nguyen, freshman Alex Wowk, freshman Matthew Fadel).

• Earning Patriot League Swimmer-of-the-Week honors were Wilson (twice), Bondarowicz, Johnson, Lauffer, Mauldin, Dean Nguyen. Earning Patriot League Diver-of-the-Week honors was Buchter (seven).

• Wilson set the Navy and Patriot League record in the 100 backstroke with his time of 46.78.

• Arnold, Buchter, Carter, Cook, Cortright, junior Joaquin Gabriel, Johnson, Lauffer, junior Andy MacGregor, Mauldin, sophomore Chris Mayer, Derek Nguyen, Oh, Pfanstiel, Piedt, senior Neal Smith, freshman Oli Smith, Velazquez and Wowk were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

• Piedt was named First Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Women’s Swimming & Diving (10-3, Won N-Star) Head coach: John Morrison

• Defeated Army, 199.5-101.5, to win the Star Meet for the 30th year in a row. It is the longest winning streak in Army-Navy history.

• Won the Patriot League title for eighth year in a row and the 18th time in program history. That sets the Patriot League record for the most titles won by a team in any sport.

• Won the ECAC Championship for the third-straight season.

• Navy placed fifth at the CSCAA National Invitational.

• John Morrison was selected as the women’s swimming coach of the year in both the Patriot League and the ECAC.

• Rich MacDonald was selected as the Patriot League Diving Coach of the Year.

• Senior Lauren Barber was selected as the Patriot League Swimmer of the Year, freshman Hannah Montau was named the Patriot League Diver of the Year and freshman Martina Thomas was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year.

• Barber qualified for the NCAA Swimming Championship for the third time in her career, Thomas qualified for the first time and both Montau and sophomore Meghan Gerdes qualified for the NCAA Diving Championship. Previously, the most Mids Navy had sent to the NCAA Championship on the Division I level in a single season was two.

• Barber placed eighth in the consolation final of the 200 breaststroke to earn Honorable Mention All-America honors. She is the first Navy and Patriot League women’s swimmer to earn the accolade on the Division I level.

• Barber was awarded the Vice Admiral Lawrence Sword for Women, which is presented to that woman of the graduating class who is considered by the Association's Athletic Council to have personally excelled in women’s athletics during her years of varsity competition.

• Junior Jamie Miller was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

• Miller and junior Stephanie Downing were named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team.

• Earning First-Team All-Patriot League honors were Barber, sophomore Ashley Boddiford, Downing, Miller, Montau, junior Erin Scudder, freshman Sarah Sorensen, Thomas and junior Delaney Walz.

• Earning Second-Team All-Patriot League honors were junior Kelly Harrington, freshman Sydney Harrington, freshman Kelly Huffer, Gerdes, sophomore Ali Kozlina, freshman Caroline Turner and freshman Brooke West.

• Winning individual events at the Patriot League Championship were Barber (100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, 200 individual medley), Miller (100 backstroke, 200 backstroke), Montau (one-meter diving, three-meter diving), Thomas (100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle) and Walz (100 butterfly, 200 butterfly).

• Winning relay events at the Patriot League Championship were the 200 medley relay (West, Barber, Walz, Sorensen), 800 freestyle relay (Thomas, Scudder, senior Casey Lawson, Barber), 400 medley relay (Miller, Barber, Walz, Thomas) and 400 freestyle relay teams (Thomas, Kozlina, Lawson, Barber).

• Barber competed in the maximum number of events at the Patriot League Championship in her career (28). She won all 28 events to become the first swimmer –– male or female –– to go 12 for 12 in individual events as well as 16 for 16 in relay events at the meet.

• Winning individual events at the ECAC Championship were junior Elyse MacIssac (200 breaststroke), and freshman Amy Yunginger (100 butterfly, 200 butterfly).

• Winning a relay eventsat the ECAC Championship was the 400 medley relay team (freshman Alayna Nielson, MacIssac, senior Lauren Greenberg and sophomore Lindsay Tanner).

• Earning Patriot League Swimmer-of-the-Week honors were Barber (seven) and Thomas. Earning Patriot League Diver-of-the-Week honors were Montau (five) and Gerdes.

• Individuals setting Navy records were Barber, 100 breaststroke (59.71), 200 breaststroke (2:08.73), 200 individual medley (1:56.23); Huffer, 200 butterfly (1:57.06); Miller, 100 backstroke (54.04); Thomas, 200 freestyle (1:44.07); and Walz, 100 butterfly (53.48). Barber’s 100 and 200 breaststroke times and 200 individual medley time were also Patriot League records, as was Huffer’s 200 butterfly time and the 200 freestyle time of Thomas.

• Relay teams setting Navy and Patriot League records were the 200 freestyle (Sorensen, Kozlina, West, Thomas), 1:32.11; 400 freestyle (Thomas, Kozlina, Lawson, Barber), 3:18.59; 800 freestyle (Thomas, Scudder, Lawson, Barber), 7:06.23); 200 medley (West, Barber, junior Kelly Harrington, Thomas), 1:40.05; and 400 medley relay teams (Miller, Barber, Walz, Thomas), 3:35.69.

• Senior Lauren Barber received the Vice Adm. Lawrence Sword for Women.

Men’s Tennis (31-14, 6-0 in the Patriot League, Won N-Star) Head coach: Chris Garner

• Navy won the Patriot League Tournament for the second year in a row, the third time in five years and the eighth time in 13 years.

• Navy defeated Army, 4-3, in the championship match of the league tournament.

• One week earlier, Navy had defeated Army, 4-0, to win the Star Match for the fourth year in a row.

• Navy lost a 4-0 decision to No. 9 North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

• Chris Garner was selected as the Patriot League Coach of the Year, sophomore Andrew Ton was named the Patriot League Player of the Year for the second year in a row, Ton and freshman Jack Dabek were selected as the Patriot League Doubles Team of the Year, and freshman Derrick Thompson was tabbed as the Patriot League Rookie of the Year.

• Thompson also was named the MVP of the Patriot League Tournament, Ton and Thompson received first- team all-league accolades and junior Greg Durham was a second-team all-league selection.

• Ton was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

• Dabek, Durham, senior Andrew Hicks, junior Matthew Lee, freshman Conners O’Brien, Thompson, Ton and freshman Sam Vagner were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Women’s Tennis (23-9, 5-1 in the Patriot League, Won N-Star) Head coach: Keith Puryear

• Juniors Kaylah Hodge and Ansofi Wreder were named to the Second Team All-Patriot League

• Hodge was named the Patriot League Women’s Tennis Player in back-to-back weeks on February 19 and February 26

• Junior Aimee Dervishian was named Patriot League Women’s Tennis Player of the Week on February 12 and freshman Meghana Komarraju earned the award on April 2

• Navy defeated Army in a 4-3 contest in West Point, N.Y. to win the 2019 Star Match over the Black Knights

• Navy finished second overall in the 2019 Patriot League Women’s Tennis standings after going 5-1 in Patriot League matches

• Navy advanced to the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament for the seventh-straight season

• Navy also earned the No. 2 seed in the league tournament and have made seven appearances in the Patriot League tournament

• Navy finished with a record of 23-9 overall and the 23 wins rank third all-time in program history for wins in a single season. Navy also recorded its eighth 20-win season in the last nine years

• During the 2019 spring season, Navy recorded a nine-game winning streak, which was capped off with the win against Army

• Navy also had a stretch of 16-straight home wins that spanned the end of the 2018 season into the 2019 season. During the home winning streak, Navy also picked up a 4-3 win over local rival Maryland

• Navy’s freshmen pair of Kacey Moore and Annalise Klopfer led the team in singles and doubles victories, respectively. Moore finished the season with a record of 27-3 and her 27 singles wins rank second all-time in school history and were two away from tying the program record. Klopfer finished the year with a doubles record of 23-6 and the 23 wins were fourth all-time and a win shy from tying the program record and becoming the fourth player in program history with 24 doubles wins in a season

• Senior captain Catalina Rico and Hodge both surpassed the 100-win mark this season. Rico finished her career with 113 wins over singles and doubles competition to sit sixth in the program record book and she finished her career with 62 doubles wins to rank third all-time. Hodge completed her junior campaign with 106 victories and she ranks eighth all-time in program history

• Rico and Wreder represented Navy on the Patriot League All-Academic Team

• Brooke Bogdanovich, Miranda Deng, Danika Kahatapitiya, Tina Li, Komarraju, Rico and Wreder were all named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

• Rico selected as the ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award winner in the Atlantic Region

Men’s Indoor Track & Field (0-2) Head coach: Jamie Cook

• The Navy men's track and field team recorded 243.5 points as a team to finish the 2019 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship in second place. The second-place finish marked the first time since 2012 that the men's team did not win the PL Indoor title.

• Junior Cedric Williams was named the Field Athlete of the Meet, as well as the Top Point Scorer on the men's side. He was joined as an individual award winner by junior John Finnegan who was tabbed the Track Athlete of the Meet.

• Williams won the long jump and the triple jump to score an individual best 20 points in the meet. He claimed the long jump with a jump of 7.29m (23-11.00) to win the event by 0.03m. The triple jump saw Williams claim first-team all-conference accolades with a distance of 14.90 (48-10.75) to win the event by 0.13m.

• Finnegan won the 500m dash with a time of 1:02.02. The time was the sixth fastest time in Navy track and field history. He ran the anchor leg of the 4x400m relay that edged Army West Point by 0.24 seconds to win with a collective time of 3:12.03, which is the second fastest time in program history. In addition, Finnegan ran the opening leg of the 4x800m relay team that notched a collective time of 7:29.98, which is the fourth fastest time in Navy history.

• Eleven individuals won First Team All-Patriot League distinction in eight individual events and two relays. Senior Sean Brennan (Weight Throw), junior Jake Brophy (1-Mile Run, 4x800m Relay), junior John Finnegan (500m Dash, 4x400m Relay, 4x800m Relay), sophomore Eric Hughey (400m Dash, 4x400m Relay), junior Cameron Hurd (4x400m Relay), junior Kevin Murray (5,000m Run), freshman David Nelsen (4x800m Relay), sophomore Simon Petsch (4x400m Relay), senior Benjamin Stewart (Heptathlon), freshman Clayton Turner (4x800m Relay), and junior Cedric Williams (Long Jump, Triple Jump) all earned First Team All-Patriot League honors.

• Five track and field athletes – junior Evan Lexo (60m Dash), senior Mike Milcarek (Weight Throw), junior Kevin Murray (3,000m Run), senior Stefano Pineda (Pole Vault), and sophomore Clayton Thompson (60m Hurdles, Heptathlon) – earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors in six events.

• Senior pole vaulter Stefano Pineda was named the 2019 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Scholar- Athlete of the Year. In addition, Pineda joined junior Jake Brophy and senior Benjamin Stewart on the Patriot League's 10-person All-Academic men's team.

• Navy claimed six Patriot League weekly honors during the indoor season. Sophomore Eric Hughey was named Male Track Athlete of the Week (Jan. 29), while sophomore Clayton Thompson (Jan. 15) and senior Stefano Pineda (Feb. 12) were tabbed Male Field Athlete of the Week. The Midshipmen had three consecutive Male Rookies of the Week with freshman Clayton Turner (Jan. 29) and freshman Charles Crispi (Feb. 5, Feb. 12) claiming the honor the final three weeks of the indoor season.

• The Navy men's team dropped a 95-86 decision in the first dual meet of the season on the road against Princeton on Jan. 6, at Jadwin Gymnasium in Princeton, N.J. The men's team claimed seven of a maximum 8 points in the 200m, 1,000m, and the 3,000m.

• The Navy men’s track and field team fell to rival Army West Point, 100-81, in the annual Army-Navy Indoor Star Meet as part of the Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA. The men's team earned maximum points in three events – 1,000m run, pole vault, and weight throw, while earning first place finishes in the 400m dash and the 1-mile run.

• During the indoor season, the men’s track and field team posted 18 times/marks that ranked in Navy’s all- time top-10, including setting the school record in the 60m hurdles and the heptathlon. Senior Kordell Williams broke his own school record by 0.03 seconds, posting an 8.00 in the 60m hurdles, while senior Benjamin Stewart broke the heptathlon record with 5,509 points to win the Patriot League title in the event. As a team, the Mids posted top-10 performances in the 60m dash, 500m run, 800m run, 60m hurdles (4x), pole vault, weight throw (2x), heptathlon (5x), 4x400m relay (2x), and 4x800m relay.

• Senior Benjamin Stewart was awarded the men's Coaches' Calvert Award, which recognizes a graduating varsity letterwinner who displayed leadership, consistent effort, loyalty and dedication to the sport and who has taken their abilities beyond the expectations of the coach, peers and themselves.

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field (1-0, Won N-Star) Head coach: Jamie Cook

• Senior Benjamin Stewart of the men’s track & field team was awarded the men’s Coaches’ Calvert Award, which recognizes a graduating varsity letterwinner who displayed leadership, consistent effort, loyalty and dedication to the sport and who has taken their abilities beyond the expectations of the coach, peers and themselves.

• Director of Navy Track and Field Jamie Cook was selected as the USTFCCCA Men's Outdoor Mid- Atlantic Region Coach of the Year.

• Won the Patriot League Championship for the sixth-straight year, recording a conference-best 289 points, winning 15 of 22 events at the meet. Navy claimed 12 individual titles and three relays, while also claiming silver in five additional events.

• Coach Jamie Cook was named the Patriot League Coach of the Year.

• Senior Sean Brennan was named the Field Athlete of the Meet, as well as the Top Point Scorer on the men's side. He was joined as an individual award winner by junior John Finnegan who was tabbed the Track Athlete of the Meet.

• Senior Sean Brennan won the shot put, discus, and hammer throw to sweep his events at the Patriot League Championship, while junior John Finnegan won the 400m dash, 800m run and was a member of the winning 4x400m relay team.

• Seventeen (17) individuals won First Team All-Patriot League distinction in 12 individual events and three relays. • Five track and field athletes – junior Jake Brophy (1,500m Run), freshman Hayden Fox (Javelin), senior Benjamin Stewart (Long Jump), senior Aaron Watson (100m Dash), and senior Kordell Williams (110m Hurdles) – earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors.

• Senior pole vaulter Stefano Pineda was named the 2019 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Scholar- Athlete of the Year. In addition, Pineda joined junior Jake Brophy and senior Benjamin Stewart on the Patriot League's All-Academic men's team.

• Senior pole vaulter Stefano Pineda was named First Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America

• Seniors Stefano Pineda, Michael Karls, and Benjamin Stewart were named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA. The Academic All- District team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The trio advanced to the national ballot that will determine CoSIDA’s Academic All- America Teams.

• Navy claimed nine Patriot League weekly honors during the outdoor season. Senior Sean Brennan was named Male Field Athlete of the Week three times (March 19, April 2, April 23). Junior Evan Lexo (April 10) and sophomores Eric Hughey (March 26) and Clayton Thompson (March 19) were each named Male Track Athlete of the Week, while freshmen Hayden Fox (March 26, April 10) and Charles Dever (April 30) were tabbed Male Rookies of the Week.

• Navy had 11 student-athletes represent the Academy at the 2019 NCAA East Preliminaries at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. The 11 student-athletes – senior Sean Brennan (Shot Put, Hammer Throw, Discus), junior John Finnegan (800m, 4x400m Relay), freshman Hayden Fox (Javelin), sophomore Eric Hughey (4x400m Relay), junior Cameron Hurd (400m Hurdles, 4x400m Relay), sophomore Skyler Mason (Javelin), junior Kevin Murray (3,000m Steeplechase), sophomore Simon Petsch (4x400m Relay), senior Stefano Pineda (Pole Vault), sophomore Clayton Thompson (110m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles), and junior Cedric Williams (Triple Jump) – competed in 10 individual events and one relay.

• The 4x400m relay team of sophomore Eric Hughey, sophomore Simon Petsch, junior Cameron Hurd, and junior John Finnegan combined for a school-record time of 3:07.24 to finish 11th overall and qualify for the NCAA Championship in the last heat of the last race of the day at the NCAA East Preliminaries at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. The 4x400m relay team joined freshman Hayden Fox who qualified for nationals in the javelin with a distance of 67.35m (220-11).

• At the NCAA Championships, the 4x400m relay team of sophomore Eric Hughey, sophomore Simon Petsch, junior Cameron Hurd, and junior John Finnegan clocked a collective time of 3:09.97 to finish in 19th. The time was the 10th best time in program history and the fifth best performance of the year for the quartet. In the javelin, freshman Hayden Fox made his first NCAA Championship appearance, registering a distance of 64.60m (211-11) to finish in 20th overall. For their efforts finishing in the top 24, Finnegan, Fox, Hughey, Hurd, and Petsch each earned honorable mention All-America honors.

• For the second consecutive season, the Navy men's track and field team won the IC4A Outdoor Championship. The men's team posted a combined score of 109 points to win by 42 at Weaver Stadium on the campus of Princeton University. It is the first time that Navy has won back-to-back IC4A titles since the Midshipmen won three straight in 1944, 1945, and 1946.

• At the IC4A Championships, Navy tallied 16 All-East performances (top 8 finishers) earning 14 individuals and two relay teams – freshman Cole Bailey (High Jump), senior Sean Brennan (Shot Put, Discus, Hammer Throw), junior Jake Brophy (4x800m Relay), freshman Sean Casey (4x800m Relay), junior John Finnegan (800m Run), freshman Hayden Fox (Javelin), junior Dominic Franshaw (4x800m Relay), freshman Richard Hansen (4x100m Relay), sophomore Eric Hughey (400m Dash), senior Demetrius Lanier (4x100m Relay), sophomore Skyler Mason (Javelin), freshman David Nelsen (4x800m Relay), sophomore Simon Petsch (400m Dash), sophomore Austin Pierce (4x100m Relay), senior Stefano Pineda (Pole Vault), senior Benjamin Stewart (Pole Vault), sophomore Clayton Thompson (110m Hurdles), senior Aaron Watson (100m Dash, 4x100m Relay), and senior Kordell Williams (110m Hurdles).

• The Navy track and field team won an event at the prestigious Penn Relays for the first time in 73 years as the Midshipmen won the shuttle hurdle relay at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa. The quartet of senior Kordell Williams, junior Cameron Hurd, junior Hunter Wargo, and sophomore Clayton Thompson combined for a collective time of 56.96 to win the event by just over a half a second (0.53). In addition to winning the shuttle hurdle relay, the men's 4x400m relay team broke the school record, which was set 40 years ago. The team of sophomore Eric Hughey, sophomore Simon Petsch, Hurd, and junior John Finnegan clocked a time of 3:08.78 to best the previous record of 3:08.84, which was set in 1979.

• The Navy track and field team posted a dominant performance as the men's team won the Army-Navy Outdoor Star Series Meet as part of the annual Star Series presented by USAA, winning 110-93. It is the eighth consecutive outdoor win over the Black Knights for the men's team.

• During the outdoor season, the men’s track and field team posted 28 times/marks that ranked in Navy’s all-time top-10, including setting the school record in the 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles, 4x400m relay, and the 4x110m shuttle hurdles relay. Sophomore Clayton Thompson broke a pair of school records, etching his name in the record books in the 60m hurdles (13.98) and the 400m hurdles (50.95). The sophomore is the first Midshipmen to break 14 seconds in the 60m hurdles and 51 seconds in the 400m hurdles. The 4x400m relay team of sophomore Eric Hughey, sophomore Simon Petsch, Hurd, and junior John Finnegan clocked a time of 3:08.78 to best the previous record of 3:08.84, which was set in 1979. Senior Kordell Williams, junior Cameron Hurd, junior Hunter Wargo, and Thompson combined for a collective time of 56.96 to set the school record and win the shuttle hurdle relay at the prestigious Penn Relays, marking Navy’s first win in an event in 73 years.

Women’s Indoor Track & Field (1-1) Head coach: Jamie Cook

• Navy women's track and field tallied 194.5 points as a team to capture the 2019 Patriot League Indoor Championship. The win marked the first Patriot League Indoor Title for the women since 2011.

• Navy's women's team finished the meet with eight individual All-Patriot League performance, as well as a victory in the 4x400m relay. The Midshipmen claimed three First Team All-Patriot League finishes with five second team nods.

• Sophomore Chelsey Edwards (400m Dash), junior Kara Kakascik (500m Dash), and junior Kaitlyn Stafford (Pole Vault) each garnered All-Patriot League First Team individual honors, while senior Amanda Agana, freshman Chloe Alfieri, Edwards, and junior Lauren Heaton earned first team laurels in the 4x400m relay.

• Five track and field athletes – senior Amanda Agana (500m Dash), junior Lauren Heaton (400m Dash), freshman Lindsay Lewis (Pentathlon), sophomore Ariana McKenzie (Weight Throw), and sophomore Sam Orie (Shot Put) – earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors.

• Sophomore Sam Orie was selected to the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field All-Academic team for the first time in her career.

• Navy claimed six Patriot League weekly honors during the indoor season. Sophomore Chelsey Edwards (Jan. 15, Feb. 5) was named Female Track Athlete of the Week twice, while junior Regine Tugade (Feb. 12) earned the honor once. Sophomore Evelyn Berecz was tabbed Female Field Athlete of the Week on Jan.15. The Midshipmen had a pair of Female Rookies of the Week with freshman Chloe Alfieri (Jan. 15) and freshman Breanna Mealer (Feb. 5) each claiming the honor once.

• The women's team notched an 89-83 victory on the road against Princeton in the first dual meet of the year on Jan. 6, at Jadwin Gymnasium in Princeton, N.J. The Midshipmen claimed max points in the 200m dash, 3,000m run, triple jump, and weight throw, while nearly maxing out points in the 400m and the long jump to win the meet.

• The Navy women’s track and field team was edged by one point, 89.5-88.5, by rival Army West Point in the annual Army-Navy Indoor Star Meet as part of the Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA. The women's team received maximum points in four events – 400m dash, 500m dash, pole vault, and long jump, while also claiming the 4x400m relay. In addition, the women claimed first place in the triple jump and the shot put.

• During the indoor season, the women’s track and field team posted 33 times/marks that ranked in Navy’s all-time top-10, including setting the school record in the 200m dash, triple jump, and the pentathlon. Junior Regine Tugade broke the school record in the 200m dash with a time of 24.46, while sophomore Evelyn Berecz broke the Navy record in the triple jump with a distance of 12.20m (40-00.50). Freshman Lindsay Lewis broke the pentathlon record with 3,518 points to earn Second Team All-Patriot League in the event. As a team, the Mids posted top-10 performances in the 60m dash (3x), 200m dash (8x), 400m dash (2x), 800m run, 60m hurdles, long jump (2x), triple jump (2x), shot put (2x), weight throw (4x), heptathlon (4x), 4x400m relay (3x), and 4x800m relay.

• Carla Criste, a 27-year member of the women’s track & field coaching staff, announced her retirement from the United States Naval Academy in August. In her nearly three decades at the helm of the Navy women's track and field program, Navy earned six Patriot League team titles (three indoor / three outdoor) with 120 individual Patriot League champions and 20 championship relay teams. The Midshipmen won Patriot League Indoor Championships in 2001, 2009, and 2011 and Outdoor Championships in 2003, 2012 and 2018 with Criste at the helm.

Women’s Outdoor Track & Field (1-0, Won N-Star) Head coach: Jamie Cook

• Navy women's track and field tallied 181.5 points as a team to capture the 2019 Patriot League Outdoor Championship. The win marked the women’s second consecutive title and their fourth overall outdoor title. It is the second time in school history that both the men's and women's teams won in the same season.

• Coach Jamie Cook was named the Patriot League Coach of the Year.

• Navy's women's team finished the meet with eight individual All-Patriot League performance, as well as an all-conference performance in the 4x400m relay. The Midshipmen claimed a pair of First Team All-Patriot League finishes with six second team nods.

• Senior Amanda Agana (400m Hurdles) and junior Cat Goss (Heptathlon) each garnered All-Patriot League First Team individual honors.

• Six individual track and field athletes – sophomore Chelsey Edwards (400m Dash), sophomore Sophie Gatzounas (Javelin), sophomore Ariana McKenzie (Hammer Throw), freshman Breanna Mealer (110m Hurdles), sophomore Sam Orie (Shot Put), and junior Regine Tugade (200m Dash) – earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors. In addition, the 4x400m relay team of Edwards, junior Lauren Heaton, sophomore Sydney Barber, and senior Amanda Agana earned second team laurels.

• Sophomore Sam Orie was selected to the Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic team.

• Navy claimed eight Patriot League weekly honors during the outdoor season. Junior Regine Tugade earned Female Track Athlete of the Week on March 26, while sophomore Sam Orie claimed Female Field Athlete of the Week twice (March 19, April 30). The Midshipmen had a five of Female Rookies of the Week with freshmen Chloe Alfieri (March 19), Lindsay Lewis (April 2), and Breanna Mealer (April 10) each claiming the honor once, and freshman Jadyn Tiracave earning the accolade twice (March 26, April 23).

• Sophomore Emma Foster and freshman Jadyn Tiracave both qualified in the javelin for the NCAA East Preliminaries on the campus of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. At regionals, Foster set the Navy-school record in the javelin with a distance of 49.48m (162-04) to finish 14th overall, missing out on advancing to nationals by 0.02m.

• The Navy track and field team posted a dominant performance as women’s team won the Army-Navy Outdoor Star Series Meet as part of the annual Star Series presented by USAA, 111-92. It was the fifth straight outdoor victory over Army for the women.

• At the ECAC Championships, Navy tallied five All-East performances (top 8 finishers) – sophomore Evelyn Berecz (Triple Jump), sophomore Ariana McKenzie (Hammer Throw), sophomore Emma Foster (Javelin), freshman Jadyn Tiracave (Javelin), and sophomore Sarah Morris (Javelin).

• During the outdoor season, the women’s track and field team posted 39 times/marks that ranked in Navy’s all-time top-10, including setting the school record in the long jump, javelin, and the 4x400m relay. Freshman Breanna Mealer broke the school record in the long jump with a distance of 5.96m (19-06.75), while sophomore Emma Foster broke the Navy record in the javelin with a distance of 49.48m (162-04) at the NCAA East Preliminaries. Sophomore Chelsey Edwards, junior Lauren Heaton, sophomore Sydney Barber, and senior Amanda Agana combined to break the 4x400m relay record with a time of 3:43.18 points to earn Second Team All-Patriot League in the event.

• As a team, the Mids posted top-10 performances in the 100m dash (3x), 200m dash (3x), 400m dash, 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles (3x), long jump (4x), triple jump, shot put (5x), hammer throw (2x), javelin (6x), heptathlon, 4x100m relay (5x), 4x400m relay (3x), and 4x800m relay.

• After spending the last 32 seasons as the head coach of the Navy cross country program and an assistant for the track and field team, Karen Boyle has announced her retirement from coaching at the end of this academic year. Boyle will remain with the United States Naval Academy on staff in the Physical Education department.

Volleyball (23-9, 13-3 in the Patriot League, Won N-Star) Head coach: Paco Labrador

• Navy shared the Patriot League regular season title for the second time in school history (1999, 2018).

• Navy advanced to the championship match of the Patriot League Tournament for the second year in a row and the fourth time in school history (1996, 1999, 2017, 2018).

• Navy defeated American in the championship match to earn the program’s first trip to the NCAA Tournament on the Division I level (since 1992).

• The victory over the Eagles was the first time American had lost a home Patriot League Tournament match (31-0), and was the first time Navy had defeated the Eagles on their home floor since American joined the Patriot League in 2001 (0-22).

• Navy faced No. 18 Michigan in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Wolverines defeated the Mids in three sets (25-23, 25-20, 25-10) on their way to reaching the Sweet 16.

• Navy tied the school record for wins in a season on the Division I level with 23 (1992, 2017, 2018).

• Navy Class of 2019 became the winningest on the Division I level with 75 victories over the last four years, and set a class record for the highest career winning percentage (.620). This is despite starting their careers with a 2-17 record as freshmen.

• Senior Patricia Mattingly was selected as the Patriot League Setter of the Year for the third year in a row. She is the only Mid to win the award since it was established in 2006, and is the third player to have won it three times.

• Mattingly also garnered First-Team All-Patriot League honors for a third time. She is the third Mid and the first in 19 years to have totaled three first-team all-league awards.

• Mattingly was named to the Patriot League All-Tournament Team (97 assists and 26 digs in the two matches).

• Mattingly was awarded the women's Coaches' Calvert Award, which recognizes a graduating varsity letterwinner who displayed leadership, consistent effort, loyalty and dedication to the sport and who has taken their abilities beyond the expectations of the coach, peers and themselves.

• Sophomore Maddi Sgattoni was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the Patriot League Tournament. She totaled a career-high 25 kills in the championship match and recorded 38 kills, 20 digs and 8 blocks in the tournament.

• Sgattoni also was named First-Team All-Patriot League and was selected as an ECAC All-Star.

• Senior Sydney Shearn was named to the Patriot League All-Tournament Team. She grabbed a tournament record 51 digs in the two matches, including 30 in the championship match.

• Senior Katie Patrick earned Second-Team All-Patriot League honors for the second year in a row.

• Sgattoni earned two Patriot League Player-of-the-Week accolades (Sept. 10 and 24) and Patrick earned the honor once (Sept. 17).

• Mattingly was selected as a CoSIDA Academic All-American for the second year in a row. She received second-team honors this year after earned third-team accolades in 2017. Mattingly is the first Navy volleyball player to have won the award multiple times and is the school’s third recipient from the sport.

• Mattingly was selected as the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for her sport for the third time. She is the third volleyball player across the league to have won the award three times, and is the fourth Mid across all sports to have earned the accolade three times.

• Mattingly set the Navy Division I (since 1991) career assist record with 3,849, a total that also ranks ninth in league history. She also became the first Mid and eighth player in league history to amass over 3,000 assists and 1,000 digs (1,104). Her career digs total ranks fifth at Navy on the Division I level.

• Shearn broke the Navy Division I (since 1991) career digs record with 1,708. That total also ranks third in league history. Her 521 digs as a senior set a new school single season record. Shearn also ranks second in school Division I history with a 4.46 career digs-per-set average.

• Patrick broke the Navy Division I (since 1995) career blocks record with 392, as well as the solo blocks record with 120. She also ranks second in school history with a .308 career hitting percentage.

• Seniors Kelsey Kingsland, Mattingly and Darby Minton, juniors Melissa Carter, Natalie LaPlace, Paige Miles, Olivia Rozmus and Emily Solis, sophomore Alli Taylor and freshmen Taylor Gray and Cami Herman were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Water Polo (15-14, 6-6 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference – East Division) Head coach: Luis Nicolao

• On Jan. 3, 2018, Naval Academy Director of Athletics Chet Gladchuk announced the hiring of former Navy water polo standout and veteran coach Luis Nicolao (’92) as the head coach of the Navy water polo program. Nicolao returned to Annapolis after an impressive 20-year career as the head coach of the Princeton University men's and women's water polo teams.

• Head coach Luis Nicolao officially announced on Wednesday, July 11 the hiring of former USNA water polo standout and veteran coach Tom Popp (’89) as the assistant coach of the Navy water polo program. In addition, Nicolao announced on Thursday, Aug. 16, that former Midshipmen All-American Joe Donahue (’04) joined the water polo staff as a volunteer assistant coach.

• Navy finished the season 15-14 overall, and 6-6 in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference – East Division. It was the first time the Midshipmen finished the year with a winning record since 2015.

• Earned the No. 5 seed in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Championship. • Navy fell to tournament host Fordham, 15-8, in the opening game of the MAWPC Championship, but followed with a 14-10 win against La Salle. In the season finale, Johns Hopkins edged Navy, 7-6, to drop the Midshipmen to sixth in the tournament.

• Navy claimed a pair of major Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference – East awards. Freshman Isaac Salinas was named the Rookie of the Year, while head coach Luis Nicolao was tabbed Coach of the Year. In addition, three members of the team were named to the All-MAWPC-East team with sophomore Bobby Lee earned first team honors, and sophomore Andrew Shashin and Salinas each claimed second team accolades.

• Sophomore Bobby Lee and freshman Isaac Salinas were selected to the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) All-Tournament Second Team. The team, which featured seven players on both the first and second team, was voted on by the league coaches.

• The Navy water polo team had nine of its student-athletes named to 2018 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic teams. Senior Francis Kim, sophomore Declan Harrison, sophomore Crawford Smith, and freshman Kenny McKinlay led Navy as members of the Outstanding ranks (3.71-4.00 GPA), while sophomore Jesse Hainze was named to the Superior team (3.41-3.70 GPA). Junior Brandon Shields, junior Kevin Volkov, freshman Nick Grinnell, and freshman Max Sandberg rounded out the Midshipmen on the list on the Excellent team (3.20-3.40 GPA).

• Offensively, freshman Isaac Salinas led the team with 77 points with a team-high 23 assists to go along with 54 goals (second on the team). Sophomore Bobby Lee tallied 68 total points scoring a team-high 57 goals, while sophomore Andrew Shashin (35) and junior Nate Reiff (31) also amassed 30+ goals on the season.

• Isaac Salinas and Nate Reiff led the team in assists. Salinas tallied 23 helpers, while Reiff followed with 21 assists.

• Defensively, sophomore Jake Haines led the team with 21 steals, just ahead of sophomore Bobby Lee who finished with 19. Sophomore Andrew Shashin drew a team-best 51 exclusions, while freshman Isaac Salinas (27), junior Trevor Clark (23), and junior Nate Reiff (22) also finished with 20-plus exclusions drawn.

• At goal, the Midshipmen used a quartet of goalies – senior Francis Kim, junior Ronan Williams, junior Brandon Shields, and freshman Max Sandberg. Led by Williams, the Navy goalies recorded 301 saves and a save percentage of 49.2. Williams recorded a team-best 196 saves and posted a 50.5 save percentage.

• Navy once again played a demanding schedule, playing 10 teams ranked in or receiving votes for the top- 20. The Midshipmen posted a 14-9 victory over No. 14 California Baptist, marking the first win against a ranked opponent since a 15-13 overtime victory against No. 15 Bucknell in 2015.

• Freshman Isaac Salinas was recognized by the conference as MAWPC Rookie of the Week four times during the season. Salinas helped lead Navy to a 2-1 record at the 2018 Navy Open, scoring nine points on six goals and three assists for his first Rookie of the Week honor. At the Bison Invite, he helped Navy to a 3-1 record leading all Navy rookies with 11 points, scoring three goals and adding a team-high eight assists. Salinas picked up his third accolade, helping Navy go 2-1 on a conference weekend, scoring a team-high 15 points on a team-best 12 goals, and team-high three assists. The freshman tied the Navy school record with nine goals in a game, originally set by Brian Wineke against Slippery Rock back in 1993. He earned his final MAWPC Rookie of the Week honor, scoring nine goals in three games for the Midshipmen to lead all Navy scorers.

• Junior Ronan Williams and freshman Isaac Salinas were each named Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA) Athlete of the Week presented by Northrop Grumman once during the season. Williams helped lead Navy to a 2-1 record at the 2018 Navy Open, recording 41 saves (13.7 saves per game) on the weekend and notched a 58.6 save percentage with a pair of double-digit save performances. Salinas earned NAAA Athlete of the week following his performance against Johns Hopkins where the freshman tied the Navy school record with nine goals in a game, originally set by Brian Wineke against Slippery Rock back in 1993.

• Senior Francis Kim was the recipient of this year’s Smith-McCool Sword award. This award is presented to the first-class midshipman that has the highest order of merit from the Texas Gulf Coast area. This award is named after two of our fallen shipmates that perished during flight as astronauts – Mike Smith ‘67 (Challenger) and Willie McCool ‘83 (Columbia).

• The Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Championship will span the Mid-Atlantic region from 2018-to-2021 as Fordham in the Bronx, N.Y. (2018, '21), Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pa. (2019), and Navy in Annapolis, Md. (2020) will serve as host sites for the tournament.

Wrestling (6-4, 3-3 EIWA) Head coach: Joel Sharratt

• Placed 37th at the NCAA Championship held at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa.

• Senior Nicholas Gil and juniors Spencer Carey, Jared Prince and Joshua Roetman and sophomore Tanner Skidgel received automatic berths to wrestle at the NCAA Championship by way of their finish at the EIWA Championship.

• Navy placed fifth out of 16 teams at the EIWA Championship where seven of the Mids’ 10 entrants placed among the top eight and three in the top three – 133 Casey Cobb 7th, 141 Nicholas Gil 2nd, 149 Jared Prince 2nd, 157 Quentin Hovis 8th, 165 Tanner Skidgel 1st, 174 Spencer Carey,4th, 197 Joshua Roetman 4th.

• Sophomore 165-pound Tanner Skidgel, the #3 seed, defeated fourth-seeded Cael McCormick, 4-0, to become Navy’s first EIWA Champion since 2015 when Peyton Walsh won at 165 pounds and Jadaen Bernstein won at 174 pounds.

• Eight Navy wrestlers won individual titles over the season – Anthony Cable – All-Academy Championship; Casey Cobb – Navy Classic, All-Academy Championship; Nicholas Gil – Bearcat Open, Navy Classic; Quentin Hovis – All-Academy Championship; Jared Prince – All-Academy Championship; Scout Skidgel – Shorty Hitchcock Memorial; Tanner Skidgel – All-Academy Championship, EIWA Championship; Cody Trybus – Franklin & Marshall Tournament, Shorty Hitchcock Memorial

• Five wrestlers won individual titles to lead Navy to the 2019 All-Academy Championship title. It was the 15th time the Mids have won the tournament in the 25 years it has been held.

• Gil graduates with a career mark of 107-41 which ranks as the 12th-most wins in program history. He is one of just 16 wrestlers in program history to win 100 career matches. He also wrestled in the 10th-most matches (148) in program history.

• Gil left his mark on the 141-pound weight class, posting the third (32 in 2017-18) and fifth-most (29 in 2006-07) single-season wins in program history.

• Gil turned in the team’s best record this season with a 29-8 mark. He was just one win shy of becoming the 15th wrestler in school history to reach 30 wins at least twice in his career.

• Prince fell just shy of garnering All-America honors, dropping a 9-4 decision to third-seeded Mitch Finesilver of Duke in the Blood Round at the NCAA Championship.

• Cobb and Gil were recipients of the NWCA All-Academic Award.
