Rev. Dr. Joseph Kalathiparambil as the new of Verapoly Diocese. Born as the second son of Kalathiparambil Avirachan and Thresia at Vaduthala, Kochi, on 6 October 1952, he joined Ernakulam Minor Seminary in 1965. Joseph Kalathiparambil was ordained priest on 13 March 1978 by the late Archbishop Dr. Joseph Kelanthara. He was made chancellor of Varapuzha Diocese in 1989 and in 1996 appointed as Vicar General. Dr. Joseph Kalathiparambil was appointed as the Bishop of Calicut in April 2002 and consecrated by Dr. Daniel Acharuparambil on 19 February 2002. He had served as the Bishop of Calicut for nine years. Pope Benedict XVI called him to the Vatican in February 2011, to be the Secretary of the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant Peoples. Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Kalathiparampil was the manager of St. Paul's College from 1994 to 1995. Now, as the Archbishop of Verapoly diocese, he becomes the Patron of St. Paul's College.

A Patron with Pauline Touch Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Kalathiparambil, Metropolitan Archbishop of Verapoly and the new patron of St. Paul's College has a powerful background of St. Paul's Charisma. After the initiation course in minor seminary, he joined St. Paul's College, Kalamassery as a pre-degree student of Science Department in 1968. He continued his studies in St. Paul's Pontifical Seminary, Trichy. He received his Doctorate in Canon Law from St. Paul's College, Rome. Recognizing his academic excellence and ability in handling different languages, he was appointed as the Vice Rector of “San Paulo” College, Rome. His Holiness Pope John Paul II hailed him to the position of the Chaplin of His Holiness. During the period of administrative Responsibility as the Manager of St. Paul's College, he won the hearts of staff and students. He was unique and different. He brought M.Sc. NEWSLETTER Music Club The music club of St. Paul's College, Kalamassery began its activities for the year 2016-17 officially by celebrating the World Music Day on June 21. The concept of an all-day musical celebration on the days of the solstice was originated by the French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang. Keeping in tune with this the music club of our college organized the program Fête de la Musique also known as 'Make Music Day'. The program was a success with participants from different classes singing songs of all genres. The program was hosted by Sreelakshmi and Sony Raveendran and the team presented a jugalbandi that led to the audience foot tapping and cheering on. College Union Inauguration & Release of Golden Jubilee Souvenir The college Union of St. Paul's college was inaugurated on 28 October 2016 by Rev. Msgr. Mathew Elanjimittam, Vicar General, Archdiocese of Verapoly. The NCC being a uniformed defence service unit of St. Paul's College began its activities for the academic year 2017 with an anti drug awareness rally and notice distribution underling the social commitment of the organisation. Regular parades being the integral part were conducted in the college campus during the academic year and 25 regular parades were completed. Campus cleaning was also conducted by cadets as part of parade activity. 38 Cadets participated in the annual training camp organised at Al- Ameen college, Edathala. Cadets took part in the blood donation camp organised at battalion level. Cadets also participated in central parade organised at U.C college, Aluva. Firing was conducted and all cadets of our college fired 5 rounds from .22 rifle. Classes on weapon training were also conducted. College celebrated Independence Day with active participation of NCC cadets and college staff. Manager Fr. Felix Chakkalakal hoisted the national flag and emphasised the need to conserve our hard earned freedom. Principal Dr. V. J. Peter gave the independence day message. Two cadets of the college along with NCC officer Lt. Varun V. Varghese have been detailed to accompany NCC contingent of Ernakulam group for Army attachment camp scheduled from 23 January with 9 Madras at pangode Trivandrum.

Placement Cell Goan Institute of Communicative English conducted a recruitment drive for our final year students in November 2016 and 28 students from various branches were short listed. The students have to undergo free training sessions and can join the firm in June 2017. The placement cell conducted a talk on opportunities in the field of Aviation in December 2016. The Cell also organized a class by Kalabhavan Universal Media Academy and they introduced several courses related to media.

NSS Volunteers regularly clean the campus with the aim of creating a plastic free nature friendly campus. On 15 August 2016, NSS Volunteers conducted a rally to create awareness of protecting Periyar River from chemical pollutions. The International Yoga Day was celebrated on 25 June 2016 and the volunteers practiced Yoga under the watchful eyes of trainers Mary Rysel and Niharas. A visit to Valsalyam, a nearby orphanage, was made to share the NSS volunteers' love and affection with the less fortunate inmates and gifted toys and necessary amenities for them. NSS Volunteers initiated a fund raising programme to financially help the surgery of a student on 5 August 2016. They also conducted an Orientation Programme for freshers and the orientation class was taken by Mr. Shaji, a r e n o w n e d N S S programme officer. The camp was inaugurated by Smt. Ratnama Suresh, President, Kadungalloor Grama Panchayath. Camp days begin at 6.30 am with an assembly and NSS Anthem. After news reading, Yoga session, an eminent person from the locality hoists the NSS flag every day and delivers a message to NSS volunteers. Working sessions begin at 7.30 am to 9.30 am.
