taught them well and supported them and all those parents who invest so much care, support and reassurance at crucial times. We continue on our journey of growth and improvement through focus and effort – a growth mindset.

The Health and Wellbeing survey we conducted with Middle School students in 2015 was expanded to cover Years 5 – 12 and the data collected presented favourable results, reflecting the quality of the student culture in the school, the connectedness of students to the staff and school and strong familial ties.

During 2016 a complete review of the Middle School and Senior College Student Wellbeing was successfully undertaken by the staff, ably led by Mr Cameron Bacholer. This review led to the redesign of our House and Tutor Program especially at Years 8 – 12. An expanded Head of House role was established and the appointees are working successfully to embed the new structure, processes and program, ably assisted by staff in their capacity as Tutors.

The expanded Parent Satisfaction survey established The preparation and development of fine, well-educated in 2015 was continued in 2016 with a sampling of children and young adults remains our ultimate goal. We parents that is expected will now operate annually, set high expectations for all students in order to shape and providing all parents with regular opportunities to provide position them for an adult future. That future will have many formal feedback to complement our improving informal opportunities but will also require adaptability, resilience communication channels. The synopsis of the results has and confidence in dealing with increasing complexity and been published and were the basis of good discussion at speed of change. one of our regular Community Consultations.

2016 was a year of review, planning and improvement. The staff, both the teaching staff and administration team, Our NAPLAN results were again strong, building on 2015 have modelled continual learning, growth and improvement and our VCE headline results again showed improvement. via a number of processes. Teaching staff continue to Congratulations to all those concerned but especially those be successfully involved in Learning Teams focussed on Year 12 students who worked hard, their teachers who improving outcomes for students. The draft Master Plan for the site was formally adopted by the Board of Directors in late 2016, subject to regular review of it supporting our core business – learning and teaching.

A draft Strategic Intent was developed in 2016 and accepted by the Board as a consultation draft. Extensive parental consultation took place in the second half of 2016 along with staff consultation, which will continue into early 2017.

The Chair of the Board changed at the end of 2016 with Mr David Abraham AM stepping down from his second stint as Chair and after 32 years of dedicated service to the School as a Director. David has served the School for all of its history, apart from two years at the beginning of the School. David has been a stalwart supporter of, and contributor to The Knox School for decades. His experience and wisdom were of great assistance to me in settling into my role and we wish him well as he transitions to new roles and activities that are more family focussed.

2016 was a year of review, planning and improvements building on work commenced in 2015. We are already a good school where students connect well with each other and the adults around them. It is a place where the adults do not shy away from assisting parents to shape students, modelling appropriate attitudes and behaviours. We provoke the thinking of children and young people and look to continually improve our skills in this area.

Finally, we look to position your children, our students for success in the adult world of years to come. Our partnership in doing this continues to deepen and in doing so, the benefits accrue to our young people.
