In 2016, Reich and the Bulldogs posted an 8-3 overall record and a 5-2 mark in the SAC. Reich passed the 100-victory plateau to boost his WU record coaching ledger to 101-73 overall.

In 2016, Reich and the Bulldogs played for the SAC regular season championship on the final day of the campaign. Wingate made significant achievements on both sides of the ball, with senior Ray Edwards becoming first Bulldog in program history to earn SAC Defensive Player of the Year laurels. A program-record 13 WU student-athletes earned All-SAC laurels. Offensively, Wingate was second in the SAC in both rushing offense (227.1 yards/game) and passing offense (199.4 yards/game). The Bulldogs led the league in red zone offense and third down conversions. Running backs Lawrence Pittman and Blake Hayes combined for 29 touchdowns, with Hayes receiving recog- nition as a Harlon Hill Award nominee. Academically, 21 Wingate players made the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Reich and the 2015 WU team bolted to a 6-1 overall record following seven games. The Bulldogs received national and regional rankings. Six players made All-SAC (including Denver Bronco signee Mathu Gibson), with Pittman receiving a listing on the Harlon Hill regional ballot. Linebacker Eric Mapoles received Academic All- America® laurels for the second year. Punter Christopher Birozes joined his veteran teammate on this prestigious list.

In 2014, five Wingate football student-athletes were named to the Academic All-America® NCAA Division II football teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Wingate offensive lineman Will Poteat was a first team pick, while four Bulldogs received second team laurels: Mapoles, tight end Brandon Ellington, defensive back Jon Jimenez and defensive lineman Nick Napolitano. Ellington is the first Wingate football student-athlete to earn Academic All-America® honors twice in his career. Wingate’s five football honorees tie NCAA Division III Rose-Hulman for the most in the three NCAA divisions during the 2014 season. On the 2014 NCAA Division II Academic All-America® football scene, Chadron State (Neb.) was second with four selections. The Allstate Insurance Company and the Coaches Association (AFCA) named Mapoles to 2014 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®. The 22 players honored with this distinct recognition have not only dedicated their time to succeeding on the field, but have made a commitment to enriching the lives of others while contributing to the greater good of their communities.

Mapoles was one of seven Bulldogs to make the 2014 All-SAC team. Four Wingate players made the first team: Ellington, Napolitano, wide receiver Jordan Berry and defensive back Brandon Hathaway. Mapoles, Poteat and Jimenez made the second team. Both Ellington and Napolitano received All-SAC laurels for the third time in their respective careers. Napolitano (AP) and Hathaway (Beyond Sports Network) received All-American honors following the 2014 campaign.

In 2013, seven Wingate players were named to the All-SAC team. Quarterback Robbie Nallenweg was one of 28 candidates in the running for the 2013 Harlon Hill Trophy as the NCAA Division II college football Player of the Year. Ellington was named to the Capital One Academic All-America® NCAA Division II football second team in 2013.

The Bulldogs were 6-5 overall (5-2 SAC) during the 2012 season. Wide receiver Chris Bowden was a consensus All-American and the SAC co-offensive Player of the Year. He advanced to the national ballot (final eight) for the Harlon Hill Award, thanks to a record-setting season. Running back Andrew Nallenweg was named to the Capital One Academic All-America® NCAA Division II football second team. His brother (Robbie) set school and conference records in his first year as Wingate’s starting quarterback. The Bulldogs earned a thrilling national television victory over Carson-Newman during the 2012 campaign.

In 2011, six Wingate players earned All-SAC laurels. Bowden, Ellington and offensive lineman Mike Arndt were first team All-SAC picks and Don Hansen All-Super Region 2 honorees. For the second year in a row, quarterback Cody Haffly was a regional finalist for the Harlon Hill Award. Offensive lineman Austin Lowe was named to the Capital One Academic All-America® NCAA Division II football second team.

In the fall of 2010, Reich led the Bulldogs to the greatest season in Wingate’s senior college football history. Wingate won the school’s first-ever SAC championship on the way to a 9-3 overall record. The nine wins are a senior college school record, along with the team’s record six wins in league play. Reich was named SAC Coach of the Year for the second time in his career. The CFL’s Montreal Alouettes invited Reich to serve as a guest coach during the summer of 2011. Reich also guided the Bulldogs to a 63-41 win over Morehouse in the first play-off game in school history. The 63 points scored by Wingate were the most by any team in the entire 2010 Division II play-offs. Wingate’s season ended in the Sweet 16, against undefeated and number one seed Albany State. In the historic 2010 season, Wingate broke 35 school records on offense and special teams. Offensively, Wingate gained 5,320 yards of total offense and scored 418 points, both school records. The Bulldogs scored 56 touchdowns in 2010, eight more than the previous record.

Haffly set every major single-season passing record in 2010. He also broke the all-time Wingate and SAC record for TD passes in a season with 42. Haffly tied a SAC record with seven touchdown passes in a game. His season total was second best in all of Division II for the 2010 season. Haffly’s 3,952 yards passing in 2010 is the third-best single season total in the history of the SAC. Senior running back Nelson Woods finished his career with school records for carries, yards and touchdowns. He is seventh all-time in career rushing yards in the SAC. Senior wide receivers Delric Ellington and Perry Floyd both rewrote the record books as well. Floyd broke the record for receiving yards and touchdowns in a season. Floyd’s 1,236 yards receiving in 2010 ranks as one of the top campaigns in SAC history. He also owns the Wingate record for all-purpose yards in a season and punt return average. Delric Ellington set records for catches in a single game and season. Wingate was the only school in the nation with three different wide receivers catching 10 TD passes or more on the 2010 season. Floyd caught 15, Bowden caught 14 and Ellington corralled 10 TD passes. The Bulldogs tallied a seven-game winning streak in 2010 for the second time in Reich’s career. For the second time in the last six seasons, a school-record 10 Wingate players were named to the 2010 All-SAC first and second teams.

Reich is only the fourth head coach in school history. Wingate’s 2010 senior class achieved a new school record, compiling 31 career victories, breaking the previous record of 30. The 2010 season marked the fourth consecutive year the senior class has equaled or eclipsed the previous total. The 2010 Bulldogs finished the year ranked at the end of the season for the first time ever. The 2009 Bulldogs received votes in the final AFCA poll.

Cornerback David Jones was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL draft (145th overall selection). A 2007 Hula Bowl participant, Jones was a D2Football.com and AFCA All- American his senior season. All-American Kenwin Cummings was a part of the organization for three seasons. Bowman and his teammates have won two Grey Cup championships. All-American Chris Conklin signed a NFL free agent contract during the summer of 2008 with the Carolina Panthers.

Academics are very important to Reich and his staff. In addition to the two 2015 recipients and the five 2014 honorees, offensive linemen Lowe and Ralph Curiel and defensive end Frank Marino have earned Academic All-America® honors. Marino was the first Wingate football student-athlete to receive Academic All-America® laurels. In 2013, a school-record eight Bulldogs were named to the Capital One Academic All-Super Region 2 team: Ellington, Mapoles, Napolitano, Robbie Nallenweg, Poteat, Austin Anthony, Timmy Rogers and Mycah Gaylord.

Wingate is receiving recognition on the national scene, as the Bulldogs were ranked in either the AFCA or the D2Football.com polls at various times during every season from 2004 until 2011. Wingate’s 42-31 road victory over Tusculum was televised to a live national audience on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009. The Bulldogs posted a solid 7-3 overall record in 2009. Wingate finished alone in second place in the SAC race with a 5-2 league ledger.
