Although at least half of the fire towers operated beyond 1972 payroll records for that period do not seem to exist and the likelihood that any of these records might be found are remote. For that reason this is an incomplete accounting of all the Observers, but it is the most comprehensive source available. Dates are provided for the Observers who staffed the fire towers in the Adirondack and Catskill regions beyond 1972 which were obtained from the books by Martin Podskoch; The Catskill Fire Towers; Their History and Lore and The Adirondack Fire Towers; Their History and Lore - Northern and Southern Districts.
