This past offseason, the stadium was outfitted with lights, which will enable the program to play nine night games in 2007, the first such games in school history. The lighting includes 112 fixtures on eight towers generating 100-foot candles of light in the infield and an average of 70 candles of light in the outfield. Other improvements included a new backstop and netting behind home plate.

Those renovations came on the heels of a new scoreboard and outfield wall prior to the 2006 season. The wall measures eight feet in left and right field and extends to 16 feet in center.

Built in 1992, Roadrunner Field can accommodate 800 fans and includes an eight-person press box and three indoor batting cages down the left-field line. The playing surface is natural grass (bermuda/rye mix) and the dimensions are 335 feet down the left-field line, 375 feet to the power alleys, 405 feet to center and 340 feet down the right-field line.

2007 UTSA Baseball www.goUTSA.com In Remembrance: Brian Wilson n June 17, 2006, former UTSA baseball player Brian Wilson died of a heart attack at the age of 33. To honor his contributions to the game throughout the state Oof Texas, UTSA Athletics has established the Brian Wilson Memorial Scholarship. A group of former Roadrunners players and parents have joined the Athletics Department in an effort to raise more than $10,000 to endow the scholarship. Each year, a scholarship will be provided to a senior baseball player. An Albany, Texas, native, Wilson was an integral part of the 1994 team that captured the program’s first-ever Southland Conference Tournament Championship and berth to the NCAA Championships. He played in 111 games during his two-year career and hit .301 with 23 doubles, six home runs and 70 RBIs. As a junior in 1993, he played all nine positions, while hitting a team-leading .306. He went on to be the first UTSA player to be selected in the Draft. Wilson played three years in the Cincinnati Reds’ farm system before becoming a minor league coach and scout. Altogether, Wilson spent 13 years as a member of the Reds organization. Wilson is survived by his wife, Prairie, and three daughters Carson, Conor and Curry. Those who contribute $50 or more to the Brian Wilson Memorial Scholarship will receive a baseball signed by the 2007 Roadrunners commemorating Brian Wilson Night and the first UTSA baseball game played under the lights — Feb. 16, vs. Louisiana-Lafayette.
