For more than ten years, the hospital has been delivering babies, saving lives and taking ›› Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Level III) care of the hearts of the Northwest and North Las Vegas communities. Since 2017, Centennial Hills Hospital has also added biplane angiography capabilities to treat stroke and other neurosurgical diseases, an advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center and another 12 mother-baby rooms to meet increased demand for maternity services. The emergency department often serves as its front door, with more than 55,000 patients seen on an annual basis. Major emergencies, such as strokes and heart attacks, as well as minor emergencies are treated at the facility. Centennial Hills Hospital features a comprehensive women’s center offering care for women at every stage of life. The program also supports alternative delivery models including midwifery. Overall deliveries in the past few years exceeded 3,200. Infants who require advanced medical care spend time in the hospital’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and “NICU graduates” are celebrated with an annual reunion at the hospital. Digital mammography and advanced diagnostic testing are also available. For those who need surgery, a daVinci® Robotic Surgical System can be used for abdominal, gynecological and urological cases. Centennial Hills Hospital also performs over 2,100 orthopedic surgeries per year. This service line is supported by a nurse navigator on the orthopedic nursing unit and the Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery System, which uses customized technology for total hip replacement, total knee replacement and partial knee resurfacing, and is the only system of its kind in Southern Nevada. And, for people who may require therapy after surgery, Centennial Hills Hospital offers an outpatient therapy center to assist with the recovery and rehabilitation. DO R Las Vegas is on a journey to becoming the most recognized destination for Global Health & Wellness Travel, a Medical Tourism Destination. Las Vegas HEALS, Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority (LVCVA), Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA), UNLV College of Hospitality and the Governors Office of Economic Development (GOED) developed a regional strategic plan, identifying a set of key growth opportunities and recommendations. These planned initiatives for the industry & regional growth are perfectly aligned to develop Las Vegas as a Regional Center of Excellence. The new UNLV School of Medicine will be enrolling its second class in the summer of 2018, Touro University Nevada recently received approval to expand its class size and Roseman University College of Medicine will soon enter the accreditation process. The Las Vegas Medical District (LVMD), containing two teaching hospitals (University Medical Center and Valley Hospital Medical Center), will become the future home of the UNLV School of Medicine.
