HOXNE HUNDRED Is in the eastern division of Suffolk, in the Deanery of Hoxne, A.l'cl deaconry of Suffolk, and Diocese of Norwich. It has two detachett parishes (Carlton and Kelsale) in Blything Union, and its other 2' parishes form Hoame Union, and constitute a fertile district, aver aging about nine miles in length and breadth; bounded, ou the north, by the river Waveney, which separates it from Norfolk; on the east by Wangford aud Blything Hundreds; on the south, by Plomesgate, Loes, and Thredling Hundreds; and on the west by Ha.rtismere Hundred. It is watered by .several rivulets, flowing northward to the W aveney ; and on its southern side are the 'SOurces of the river Aide, and near Laxfi.eld the chief source of the Blythe. It has generally a strong loamy soil, well cultivated. and rising in picturesque undulations. but subsiding in a cbam paign tract, in the vale of the Wa.veney. It has only one small market town (Stradbroke). but those of Franrlingbam, Saxmund ha.m, Eye, and Harleston, are near its borders; and it has within its limits several large villages.
