MIFFLINBURG HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS COMPETE IN WVIA SCHOLASTIC SCRIMMAGE

Four Mifflinburg Students, Hunter Rowe, Taylor Williams, Carter Abram, and Bobby Swartzlander took part in the WVIA Scholastic Scrimmage. The Scholastic Scrimmage is a quiz, gameshow for area school districts: CSIU, NEIU, and LIU. Mifflinburg has been competing for a couple of years. Usually, the participants travel to Wilkes Barre to compete, but this year WVIA has developed a distance competition. They competed in two halves with two competitors each half. This year, the questions alternated instead of depending on a buzzer to ring in. The team was unsure what to expect with the COVID format, but they were thrilled to get a chance to compete. Mrs. Faunce reported that they hope to expand the team to Quiz Bowl competitions (hosted in schools on the weekends with a slightly different format) when COVID is over.

The results are a secret until the program is aired; that will be in June. There is a bracket set up, so if our Mifflinburg Team wins their first match, they will get to compete again.
