Your Friendly Village Newsletter Issue Number 93 : June 2008 ISSN 1755-9502 (Print) : ISSN 1755-9510 (Online) Other fears are the proposed "24 hour operation" which will bring " light spillage" (light pollution) " vibration and noise". Another of their worries is that because these proposed warehouses are to be holding bays, this is going to bring a lot more traffic into the area. Some 3,000 vehicles are expected, a third of which be heavy goods vehicles. Logo designed by Michael Birch They have earmarked 400 HGV parking bays which gives you some idea of the volume of HGV traffic in and out 24hrs per day, 7 days per week. These HGV’S, carrying container loads, will be traveling from Dover and other ports to the two huge warehouses, which will be nothing more than redistribution centres. It is here that HGV’s will unload and re-load merchandise ready for distribution to the rest of the UK. Can our roads take it? The increase in heavy traffic through Manston could have a ripple affect on the surrounding towns and villages. Surely there are other designated employment areas within Thanet that could accommodate this project - Eurokent for example. TDC PLANNING A.J.Cliffe & Sons (Butchers) Ltd COMMUNITY WOODLAND CONSULTATION An undertaking exists to provide an area of community woodland on Summers Coming land to the south of the access road to Somerfields as a condition of the Dust of your BBQ’s planning consent for the Somerfield site. New Line in Thanet District Council have been meeting with the owner of the land in relation to this agreement to get the woodland planted. However, the Flavoured Burgers owners have suggested relocating the woodland next to the existing plus all the old favourites woodland at Watchester Lane to link directly to the bottom of the proposed additional amenity space which will be provided as a planning condition ‘Bring-It-On’ of the H2B site when it is built. The owner believes this would benefit a far wider use by Minster residents than at the top of Tothill Hill and would House, have safer access and enhance the current ancient wooded area.
