FORMER COLORADO GOVERNOR TO GIVE UM LECTURE ON HEALTH CARE

MISSOULA —

Former Colorado Gov. Richard Lamm, director of the University of

Denver's Center for Public Policy and Contemporary Issues, will discuss "The Brave New World of Health Care" Thursday, Jan. 16, at

The University of Montana.

His presentation, part of the President's Lecture Series, will also be the Lucile Speer Memorial Lecture. Free and open to the public, the lecture will begin at 8 p.m. in the Montana Theatre of the Performing Arts and Radio/Television Center.

Lamm was governor from 1975 until 1987 and a member of the

Colorado House of Representatives from 1966 to 1974.

He focuses his research and teaching on health policy with a special emphasis on generational health-care issues and allocating health-care resources.

He's written or coauthored six books, including "Megatraumas:

America in the Year 2000" and "The Immigration Time Bomb: The

Fragmenting of America." His many articles -- written for publications such as The Times, The Christian Science

Monitor and The Miami Herald — include ones on health-care costs, cultural values and the American legal system.

Lamm, a University of law professor from 1969 to 1974, has also taught at the University of Colorado; the University of

Pittsburgh; and the University of New Orleans in Innsbruck, Austria.
