Color Country Interagency Fire Center (CCIFC) response area is approximately 16.4 million acres of Federal, State, and Private Lands. CCIFC dispatches for the following agencies: Color Country District Office BLM (CCD) Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument BLM (GSENM), Arizona Strip District Office BLM (ASD), Dixie National Forest (DIF), Zion National Park (ZIP), Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (GLP), Bryce Canyon National Park (BRP), Cedar Breaks National Monument (CBP), Grand Canyon-Parashant (PAP), Vermillion Cliffs National Monuments BLM (ASD), Pipe Spring National Monument (PIP), Southern Paiute Field Office BIA (SPA), Fish and Wildlife Services (FWS), Utah Division of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands (SWS) which includes the five southwest counties of Utah, and State of Arizona (A2S2).
The 2017 started dry, with moderate to high IA about mid-May and into early July. The Energy Release Component (ERC) climbed between the 80th - 100th percentiles by the beginning of July. The ERCs dropped below the seasonal average due to the onset of the monsoons In August the ERCs came back up to the seasonal average. There were 261 fires for 75,930 acres this season. Human caused fires accounted for 46% of all fires and 96% of the total acres burned. The Southwest State of Utah accounted for 54% of the human caused fires. The Cedar City Ranger District of the Dixie National Forest accounted for 88% of natural acres burned. Color Country resources responded to 468 smoke reports this season; 261 wildfires, 21 incorporated assists, and 186 false alarms. Color Country mobilized two T3 IMTs. Shawn Peterson’s T3 IMT was assigned to the North fire (on the Pine Valley R.D.) and the Brianhead fire (FF&SL - Southwest State).
Color Country Interagency Fire Management Area was the host of 5 exclusive use aircraft for 2017: one - T1 (HT-715) helicopter at CDC, one -T3 (H-7BS) Helicopter at SGU, one -Air Attack (AA-0FD) at CDC, and 2 SEATs at CDC (T-865 & T-874). Color Country Air Center / Cedar City Tanker Base pumped 578,890 gallons of retardant.
CCIFC processed approximately 9,853 ROSS orders for aircraft, overhead, crews, equipment, and supplies. CCIFC was unable to fill (UTF) 290 local and non-local incident orders. These orders do not include local resources sent during initial attack, which are not captured within ROSS. CCIFC supported incidents outside of the CCIFC area by sending 253 - Overhead, 95 – Aircraft, 17 – Crews, 4 – Camp Crews, and 59 - Engines off-unit. CCIFC was able to support the hurricane efforts and the California November/December wildfires. We appreciate all those who took assignments and helped with the fire effort.

The North fire was a lightning caused fire that started June 9th on the Pine Valley R. D. of the Dixie National Forest. The fire was located approximately 2 miles southwest of Pinto, UT. Shawn Peterson’s T3 IMT assumed command of the fire on June 10th. Fires final size was 492 acres.

The Brianhead fire was a human caused fire that started June 17th on private land in Brian Head, UT. The fire burned Private, State, Forest Service, and BLM lands. Shawn Peterson’s T3 IMT assumed command of the fire June 17th and then transitioned over the Roide’s T2 IMT on June 19th. June 26th Martin’s T1 IMT joined the T2 team until July 3rd. The fire transitioned from Martin’s T1 IMT to DeMasters T2 IMT on July 10th and then to Bode Mecham as an ICT4. The fires final size was 71,675 acres. Percentage of acres by agency: Cedar City Ranger District (FS) = 89%, Southwest State = 9%, Private Lands = 1%, and Cedar City Field Office (BLM) = 1%.
The Tweeds North fire was started by lightning on July 8th. The fire was located approximately 30 miles south of St. George, UT on Arizona State land with-in the Grand Canyon Parashant National Monument. Clark Olds was the Incident Commander. The final size was 1,078 acres.
The Tweeds South fire was started by lightning July 8th. The fire was located approximately 35 miles south of St. George, UT on Arizona Strip BLM land with-in the Grand Canyon Parashant National Monument. Micah Fey was the Incident Commander. The final size was 777 acres.

INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Data for items 1a, 1b, and 2b should be taken from planning and budget records in the Supervisor's Office.
2. Items 1c, 1d, 2b, and 2c may be obtained from actual records in the S.O. or from the Ranger District. If obtained from the Ranger having intimate knowledge on use of his personnel, these items may be estimated. Complete accuracy is not required.
3. Item 3 may be estimated where large numbers of casuals are employed.
