  • Sports Without Borders Conference Program 2013
SPORTS WITHOUT BORDERS CONFERENCE 2013 Friday, 3 May 2013 - Melbourne, Australia Delegates get a showbag of goodies valued at $150! Innovation in community sport: Learn How, Now! The essential conference for every grassroots sporting group, administrator and community leader in local communities and local government ourcommunity.com.au Sports Without Borders! Australian nationalism, for better and for worse, is inseparable from our love of sport. The Tests, the Cup, the Open, the Grand Final – these events structure our year as much as the big religious festivals. Questions about Bradman turn up in citizenship exams. We’ve spent more on the Olympics than on the National Broadband Network. In this country, sports mean something. From the top right down to the grassroots, we use sports to express our values. Those values have to come from all of us and speak to all of us. They have to change with the times. We need to factor in 21st Century views of gender equality and cultural inclusion. We need to guard against old-fashioned myths and prejudices. We need to continually innovate to survive. This conference will illuminate how sports are changing, how sports clubs are innovating, and how sports administrators, players, observers and volunteers can help shape the outcomes. Key takeaways: • In the digital age, how do you recruit and retain your volunteers? • In a spectator-led age, how do you develop systems to engage members? • What has to change before under-represented groups – women, people with disabilities, people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, gay and lesbian people and Indigenous Australians – see your club as relevant to their lives? • What partnerships are becoming possible with emerging stakeholders? • Marketing: not just a good idea, it’s the game.

For personal use only Pacific Star Network Limited ANNUAL REPORT 2020 Chairman’s Report 2020 Dear Shareholder, Overview On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to present the Pacific Star Network Limited (PNW) 2020 Annual Report. FY20 has been a challenging but overall rewarding year for PNW. The first nine months saw PNW achieve 15% growth in consolidated revenue on the prior corresponding period (pcp) compared to an 11% decline of the commercial radio ad market in the same period. The COVID-19 pandemic and impact of lockdowns on the economy caused a 52% decline in June 2020 quarter revenues compared with the pcp. Pleasingly the decline has improved significantly in 1Q21 and is in line with expectations. The complementary services divisions continue to be more acutely impacted by the various measures implemented by Federal, State and Territory governments around Australia which prohibit large gathering of crowds and strict social distancing measures.

  • Aap Submission to the Senate Inquiry on Media Diversity
AAP SUBMISSION TO THE SENATE INQUIRY ON MEDIA DIVERSITY AAP thanks the Senate for the opportunity to make a submission on the Inquiry into Media Diversity in Australia. What is a newswire A newswire is essentially a wholesaler of fact-based news content (text, pictures and video). It reports on politics, business, courts, sport and other news and provides this to other media outlets such as newspapers, radio and TV news. Often the newswire provides the only reporting on a subject and hence its decisions as to what to report play a very important role in informing Australians about matters of public interest. It is essential democratic infrastructure. A newswire often partners with other global newswire agencies to bring international stories to a domestic audience and also to take domestic stories out to a global audience. Newswires provided by news agencies have traditionally served as the backbone of the news supply of their respective countries. Due to their business model they contribute strongly to the diversity of media. In general there is a price for a defined number of circulation – be it printed papers, recipients of TV or radio broadcasters or digital recipients. The bigger the circulation, the higher the price thus making the same newswire accessible for small media with less purchasing power as well as for large media conglomerates with strong financial resources.1 This co-operative business model has been practically accepted world-wide since the founding of the Associated Press (AP) in the USA in the mid-19th century. Newswire agencies are “among the oldest media institutions to survive the evolution of media production from the age of the telegraph to the age of 2 platform technologies”.
