Legal Holder : Society of the Franciscan Hospitaller Sisters of Immaculate Conception. a) Project starting date : 1st Jan 2017 b) Completion date : c) Date of report : June 2019 1 Monthly Staff meeting: On Thursday 3rd April 2019, we had a monthly staff meeting with our staff members in that meeting we had planned a detailed programme for the month of April 2019. We had decided to have immunization Camp on Tuesday 9th April 2019 & On Monday 15th April 2019 at Jamshet- Nimbalpada, Patilpada, Dongaripada, Savarpada & Paraspada. On Tuesday 16th & Saturday 20th April 2019, our staff had a programme to visit to the SHGs at Jamshet – Savarpada, Paraspada, Nimbalpada, and Dongripada & Patilpada. All the members of SHGs were motivated on how to maintain a good and proper documentation to bring up a better SHG in their own respective target area. On Monday 5th May 2019, we had a monthly staff meeting with our Staff members to have through planning for the entire month. Immunization Camp was organized on Tuesday 7th May 2019 & on Tuesday 14th May 2019 at Jamshet- Savarpada, Nimbalpada, Patilpada, Paraspada & Dongaripada. On Wednesday 29th May 2019 Herbal Medicine training at Ashagad. On Monday 3rd June 2019, we had a monthly staff meeting with our staff members to have an evaluation of their works and the programmes for the month. Immunization Camp was organized on Friday 7th June 2019 & on Wednesday 12th June 2019 at Jamshet- Savarpada, Nimbalpada, Patilpada, Paraspada & Dongaripada. Health committee meeting at village level held on Saturday 8th June 2019 at Jamshet- Savarpada. We had training programme for our farmer on seeds of Vegetable distribution at Jamshet- Dongaripada On Tuesday 18th June 2019. Immunization Camp: Immunization Camp was organized on Tuesday 9th April 2019 & On Monday 15th April 2019 at Jamshet- Nimbalpada, Patilpada, Dongaripada, Savarpada & Paraspada. 68 children & 32 pregnant women were immunized with the assistance of Ganjad PHC Dr. Dhangar & Nurses Mrs. Vasavala, Mrs. Magasu Godhale & Team. Added to this, they also gave awareness talk to the pregnant lady’s about hygiene and diet etc…. Immunization Camp conducted on Tuesday 7th May 2019 & on Wednesday 12th June 2019 at Jamshet- Savarpada, Nimbalpada, Patilpada, Paraspada & Dongaripada. 58 children & 30 pregnant women were immunized with the good support of Ganjad PHC Dr. Dhangar & Nurses Mrs. Vasavala, Mrs. Magasu Godhale & Team. They also gave awareness talk to the pregnant lady’s about hygiene and diet etc…. Immunization Camp was arranged on Friday 7th June 2019 & on Wednesday 12th June 2019 at Jamshet- Savarpada, Nimbalpada, Patilpada, Paraspada & Dongaripada. 59 children & 28 pregnant women were immunized with the help of Ganjad PHC Dr. Dhangar & Nurses Mrs. Vasavala, Mrs. Magasu Godhale & Team. Besides this, they also motivated the pregnant lady’s about hygiene and diet etc…. 2 Staff Training . On Saturday 13th April 2019, staff training was held at Don Bosco, Mokhada. 6 members were present for the training. Mr. Pradeep Ghute (MSW) had animated the group. In that training programme, he insisted a lot to our staff members on report writing, project monitoring & evaluation. He gave information on women & law. He also enhanced them on panchayat raj and on Social Awareness from the leadership point of view. Added to the above topics, he also briefed on the following aspects in health sector: herbal medicine , herbal plant, maintaining good hygiene. Health committee meeting at village level Health committee meeting at village level held on Saturday 8th June 2019 at Jamshet- Savarpada. 20 members were present. Mr. Dayannad Ambolkar & animators animated the group. They gave information on the topics of personal hygiene, environmental, cleanliness, communicable diseases, water borne diseases, & the latest life taking disease (swine flu) which is fast spreading in our country. They also explained to the group the importance of eating of healthy food & the nutrients that are absorbed by our body to keep us alive, Kitchen garden & Nutrition diet etc. Herbal Medicine Training On Friday 14th June 2019 Herbal Medicine training was held at Ashagad. Mrs. Ankita Thakare & Mr. Dayanand Ambolkar animated the group. 75 women were participated. They gave information on the topics of Herbal Medicine plants and Janaral sickness light Sickle cell Anemia, dairy, Fever, Skill dieses and Joyless etc. They gave particle and Information Herbal Medicine & Plants. They made Massaj Oil, hear oil and Amrut Rass. 3 . On Friday 23rd November 2018, staff training was held at Jamshet – Dongaripada. and 3 members were present for the training. Mr. Dayanand Ambolkar had animated the group. In that training pro gramme, he insisted a lot to our staff members on report writing, project monitoring & evaluation. He gave information on women & law. He also enhanced them on panchayat raj and on Social Awareness from the leadership point of view. Added to the above topics, he also briefed on the following aspects in health sector: herbal medicine, herbal plant, maintaining good hygiene. Delivery Patients: During the month of Apr, May & June 2019 we had a visit to Cottage Hospital, Dahanu. Due to the hard work of our animators, 10 delivery patients were admitted in hospital for a safe delivery. The animators will continue their home visits to encourage the women and give tips to take care of the new born babies. They will also advise them to take proper medicine and diet for their good health. S.H.G. visit On Tuesday 16th & Saturday 20th April 2019, our staff had a programme to visit to the SHGs at Jamshet – Savarpada, Paraspada, Nimbalpada, Dongripada & Patilpada. All the members of SHGs were motivated on how to maintain a good and proper documentation to bring up a better SHG in their own respective target area. 155 members were present for village level SHG meeting. Mr. Dayanand Ambolkar animated the group. He gave information on the topics of communicable diseases, personal hygiene, environmental protection, cleanliness and also on water borne diseases. Further, he also highlighted on the Government schemes that available in health sector and narrated the ways and means to tap the resources. 4 Seeds of Vegetable distribution programme We had training programme for our farmer on seeds of Vegetable distribution at Jamshet- Dongaripada On Tuesday 18th June 2019. S.H.G women participated from Savarpada, Nimbalpada, Patilpada, Paraspada, Magatpada & Dongaripada. Mr. Vilas from Dahanu Panyat Samitee animated the group. Nearly 75 families distribution seeds of Vegetable. They distribution seeds of Pumpkin, Began, Rides & Pluses etc. They explained how to use of waste water to cultivate the vegetables around your house. He also highlighted on second crop cultivation, the regular farming and the types of seeds to be used. He also instructed how and when to plough the land and how much manure to be used. He elaborated in detail about the farming and agriculture. He emphasized on vegetable cultivation, which is good in minerals and Iron which also this brings lot of benefits to our health and economy. The women were happy about the training and they were encouraged and strengthened once again to cultivate little vegetable, so that they can manage daily expenses and get the second crop in their own field.     RESEARCH ARTICLE The Kisan Sabha and Adivasi Struggles in Thane District after 1947 Saqib Khan* Abstract: This article traces the history of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) in Thane district, Maharashtra, after 1947, that is, after the Warli Adivasi revolt of 1947. It is based on oral narratives by AIKS activists and leaders and on secondary sources. After the Warli revolt, the AIKS in Thane district mobilised the people around issues of land, forests, water, wages, and other livelihood issues. The article documents and analyses the nature of this mobilisation, the demands raised by the AIKS, and the extent to which these demands achieved success. Our evidence suggests mobilisation was successful because the people posed continuous challenges to multiple forms of exploitation by means of mobilisation by the AIKS on issues of Adivasi livelihood, and as a result of the initiation of welfare programmes through participation in local-level electoral politics. Introduction Historically, during the period of British colonial rule as well as after India gained Independence, the Adivasi people of India have been victims of economic and social exploitation and marginalisation. A recent contribution to the literature has characterised the principal means of exploitation of the Adivasis as being alienation from land and the denial of access to common property resources by violent, coercive displacement, and a corresponding loss of livelihoods (Karat and Rawal 2014, Shah 2004). British colonialism effected and aggravated the alienation of the Adivasi people from land and forests in a number of ways (Desai 1979, Prasad 2006–7, Chattopadhyay 2012).
