PHARMACY AREA AREA DESCRIPTION The Johns Hopkins Central Pharmacy The Central Pharmacy is an inpatient pharmacy production area that serves all Johns Hopkins Hospital populations and includes Cart Fill for adult only, Sterile compounding preparations On-site/ (i.e., IV bags), Pyxis refills for over 300 MedStations, Non sterile compounding (i.e., unit dose). Non-administrative Critical Care/ Inpatient Pharmacy In the Critical Care/Surgery (CCS) Inpatient Pharmacy, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians Johns Hopkins Hospital care for critical care adults in 5 different ICUs, solid organ transplant patients and patients in On-site/ the operating rooms within the hospital. Non-administrative Adult Inpatient Pharmacy In the Adult Inpatient Pharmacy (AIP), pharmacists and pharmacy technicians care for a wide Johns Hopkins Hospital variety of patients, including Internal , Surgery, , , , On-site/ , Rehabilitation, , and the Adult Emergency Room. Non-administrative The Pediatric Pharmacy services the 205 bed acute care JHH Children's Center as well as the Pediatric Inpatient Pharmacy neighboring Kennedy Krieger Institute, a pediatric rehabilitation center. This includes a wide Johns Hopkins Hospital variety of patient populations, including general pediatric medical/surgical, trauma, burn, solid On-site/ organ transplant, PICU, NICU, psychiatry, and BMT patients. The Pediatric Pharmacy Non-administrative provides clinical as well as distributive services, and dispenses more than 1 million pediatric unit-doses annually. The Weinberg Pharmacy services approximately 140 acute care beds and two high-volume outpatient oncology infusion centers. The acute care patient areas include surgery, medical Weinberg Inpatient oncology, benign , hematologic malignancies and marrow transplantation. Pharmacy The primary outpatient infusion center (OPD) cares for approximately 150-200 patients per day Johns Hopkins Hospital with a variety of malignancies. The inpatient/outpatient (IPOP) infusion center cares for 50 On-site/ patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation in a highly innovative outpatient practice. Non-administrative Additionally, the Oncology Investigational Drug Service supports 400 to 500 trials within the various practice settings. PHARMACY AREA AREA DESCRIPTION Quality and The Center for Medication Quality and Outcomes conducts applied outcomes research and Outcomes pharmacoepidemiologic studies to enhance the quality and safety of patient care and to Johns Hopkins Hospital improve patient outcomes. Administrative The Investigational Drug Service (IDS) pharmacy supports clinical research for Johns Hopkins Investigational Drug Services Medicine. IDS coordinates and provides expertise in support of clinical investigational drug Johns Hopkins Hospital trials. The intern will be introduced to the basic concept of clinical drug trials, state and federal On-site/ regulations and the professional practice of IDS through experiential learning activities and Non-administrative assignments, including: dispensing investigational drugs, counseling research subjects, managing drug returns, reading and summarizing the protocols and other ad-hoc projects.

Ambulatory and Care The Ambulatory and Care Transitions Division oversees drug distribution and clinical pharmacy Transitions services in areas. The Division is also involved in the development, On Site/Combination implementation, and optimization of transitions of care and readmission reduction efforts Administrative and Non- across the health system. Working On-site/ closely with the Associate Director for Decentralized & Clinical Pharmacy Services, the Administrative participant will complete projects that support and enhance patient care services ranging from

the acute care, ambulatory care and care transitions environments.. Education Training and The Education Division of the Department of Pharmacy is responsible for the orientation and Personnel Development training of new employees and the ongoing education of pharmacy staff. Pharmacy Educators Johns Hopkins Hospital provide in-services and other hands-on training for new policies, drug , and other On-site – 2010 Building/ pharmacy-related activities. Bayview & Howard County Howard County Outpatient Pharmacy provides an opportunity to observe marketing and Outpatient Pharmacy managing growth of a new pharmacy. Located in the Medical Pavilion at Howard County, the Home Care Group pharmacy works closely with private specialists and Howard County General Hospital. The Off-site – Howard County Intern will be able to observe entire prescription filling process, assist with specialty medication General/ services, perform marketing tasks and communicate with .

The Johns Hopkins Outpatient Pharmacy at the Arcade is situated between the Zayed critical Arcade Outpatient Pharmacy care and Bloomberg towers. This pharmacy provides services to patients being Home Care Group discharged from the hospital and emergency department; with a large number of pediatric On-site/ prescriptions, which require specialty compounding. This pharmacy also provides specialty Non-administrative formulations for the patients of the Wilmer Eye that otherwise would not be available outside of the hospital. Moore Outpatient Pharmacy The Moore Outpatient Pharmacy is a specialty retail pharmacy in a clinical setting. Over 98% Home Care Group of our prescription volume pertains to HIV/AIDS related . Most of our patients are On-site/ referred to us from the Moore Clinic and the Baltimore City Health Departments, as well as Non-administrative discharge patients. Weinberg Outpatient The Outpatient Pharmacy at the Weinberg Center fills prescriptions for oncology patients Pharmacy treated at the Outpatient as well as patients being discharged from the Weinberg tower Home Care Group of The Johns Hopkins Hospital. This pharmacy dispenses a large variety of oral On-site/ and supportive treatments for patients living with . Non-administrative The Medication Safety Officer works on quality improvement initiatives within the outpatient and infusion pharmacy in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Home Care Group Medication Use Safety quality department. Such initiatives include analyzing medication errors and completing Home Care Group performance improvement projects using tools such as root cause analysis and failure mode Off-site – Holabird Avenue/ and effects analysis along with monthly auditing and assessment of safety objectives in the Administrative pharmacies. In addition, this includes recalled medications and attending various regularly scheduled safety meetings within the health system. Outpatient Pharmacy Outpatient Pharmacy Administration is part of a cross functional team consisting of Administration pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, human resource employees, information Home Care Group experts, finance representatives, and support service representatives, who work in a Off-site – Holabird Avenue/ collaborative practice to support outpatient pharmacy teams that provide dispensing and Administrative medication management services to the patients of Johns Hopkins Medicine. Home Care Group, The Outpatient Pharmacy Education Manager coordinates orientation, education, and training Training Coordinator for new employees and the ongoing education of current Outpatient Pharmacy staff in all areas Off-site – Holabird Avenue/ of operations, policies, and procedures. Additional responsibilities include developing and Administrative maintaining standard operating procedures set forth for the seven outpatient pharmacies. Working with the clinical coordinators, who are a group of pharmacists that focus on development, training, and maintaining clinical programs within the outpatient pharmacies. Home Care Group Pharmacists provide direct patient care including MTM and state management for Off-site – Holabird Avenue/ specific patient populations. In addition, the clinical coordinators provide education to the Administrative pharmacy staff regarding new drug therapies or clinical programs. They also work very closely with the JHHCG PGY1 Community Residency Pharmacy program. Pharmaquip Infusion Services Pharmaquip Infusion Services is a specialty pharmacy providing safe and effective infusion Home Care Group therapies to patients at home. All sterile admixture products (TPN, , chemotherapy, Off-site – Holabird Avenue/ hydration, management, etc.) are compounded in a USP 797 compliance clean room Non-administrative environment. Bayview Medical Center Pharmacy Administration Johns Hopkins Bayview Working with the Assistant Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Administrative team on Medical Center administrative projects. Intern will work on financial, operational, technology optimization, Off-site—Bayview Medical and administrative projects based on current departmental initiatives. Center/ Non-administrative
