Forum Restrictions and Orderly Conduct of Business: The Education Alliance conducts the business of the Washoe County School District during its meetings. The presiding officer may order the removal of any person whose statement or other conduct disrupts the orderly, efficient or safe conduct of the meeting. Warnings against disruptive comments or behavior may or may not be given prior to removal. The viewpoint of a speaker will not be restricted, but reasonable restrictions may be imposed upon the time, place and manner of speech. 1.03 Public Comment – None at this time. Charles Pasillas and Michelle Sanchez-Bickley joined the meeting. 1.04 ACTION TO ADOPT THE AGENDA - It was moved by Brent Boynton, and seconded by Eric Scheetz that the Board of Directors adopt the agenda. The result of the vote was Unanimous: Pass (Yea: Dave Bianchi, Brent Boynton, Bill Cathey, Joe Cline, Melissa Deadmond, Lauren Garfinkel, Kendall Inskip, David Lasic, Chris Morgan, Charles Pasillas, Nanette Quitt, Ben Rogers and Michelle Sanchez-Bickley) Final Resolution: Motion Carries 13-0

2. REPORTS 2.01 President’s Report Dave Bianchi thanked Eric Scheetz for purchasing a table at the Young Professional’s Network (YPN) Non-Profit Event and sharing information about Education Alliance (EA). Dave stated an e-mail went out to settle on a date for the first Strategic Planning meeting, he went on to explain this meeting will set goals to accomplish. Dave explained to the group WCSD is making some budget cuts and although this department has escaped in the past, we may not this time.

2.02 Executive Director’s Report Kendall Inskip informed the group Paul McKenzie donated 500 Reno 1868 FC soccer balls to seven NV9 schools and Lemelson Elementary which Kendall and intern Torie Palmer helped deliver along with Paul’s wife, Rhonda. Kendall invited the group to join her at the NVSAA Jewel Awards on Saturday, March 30th at the Atlantis. The proceeds from the Silent Auction go directly to EA. Kendall gave an update on the O’Neal Family Foundation “Outstanding Educator Award.” 10 grants up to $1,000 each will be awarded May 9th at the “Shop ‘Till You Drop” Event. E-mails have been sent to the principals at 12 eligible schools, including “bubble schools.” Kendall explained “bubble” schools – schools with Free and Reduced Lunch student populations who are federally eligible but do not receive Title I funding. Submission of applications closes April 19th. Kendall noted we are actively working with a CPA on our Form 990 Taxes for 2017-18. Kendall

encouraged the group to distribute our Annual Report. Kendall thanked Alex Woodley for purchasing 20 RGJ print copies with the full-page Run for Education thank you ad. Kendall asked the group to consider joining her when she delivers the ad to our great sponsors to thank them.

2.03 Member Reports

Eric Scheetz explained that YPN does not have its own non-profit, so it holds its non-profit night to get young professionals involved with the community. Lauren Garfinkel said the group is a great way to brainstorm and network. Eric stated he is setting up a Legislature day, where they go to Carson, have lunch and meet local representatives and lobbyists.

Mariah Evans joined the meeting.

Nanette Quitt gave an update on SkillsUSA Nevada Job Interview Contest sponsored by EA: 82 students have signed up and we have secured 17 judges. 3. Consent Agenda Items 3.01 Approval of Consent Agenda Items 3.02, 3.03, and 3.04 3.02 Approval of the Minutes from the February 25, 2019 Board of Directors Meeting 3.03 Approval of the Education Alliance Financial Statement for the period of 7/1/2018 through 12/31/2018 3.04 Approval of the Education Alliance 2018 Data Profile from School Year 2016-17 4. It was moved by Alex Woodley, and seconded by Michelle Sanchez-Bickley that the Board of Directors approve Consent Items 3.02 through 3.04. The result of the vote was Unanimous: Pass (Yea: Dave Bianchi, Brent Boynton, Bill Cathey, Joe Cline, Melissa Deadmond, Mariah Evans, Lauren Garfinkel, Kendall Inskip, David Lasic, Chris Morgan, Charles Pasillas, Nanette Quitt, Ben Rogers, Michelle Sanchez-Bickley, Eric Scheetz, and Alex Woodley) Final Resolution: Motion Carries 16-0.

5. Items for Presentation, Discussion, and/or Action

4.02 Presentation of the Principal for a Day 2019 event video produced by WCSD Communications Department. Kendall stated two videos were produced; one highlighting the PiE Champion Award winners and the other Principal for a ½ Day 2019. 4.03 Education Alliance Board Member Spotlight – Learning about Individual Board members regarding their path to support education. Member Spotlight: Lauren Garfinkel. Kendall introduced Lauren Garfinkel. Lauren encouraged the group to participate in an engagement activity called “two truths and a lie.” 4.04 Presentation and Update on the P-16 Advocacy Council Initiatives, including the 2019 Data Profile and Comparator Peer Districts White Paper. Joe Cline stated the P-16 Council is working on two projects this spring. They are working on the 2019 Data Profile and the White Paper on Comparative Districts. they are looking at and introduced Kayla Wolfson, intern, who is using National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) to look at the comparative data. Joe added most of the districts they have been looking at are similar in size and focusing on funding levels. Joe discussed the ACT test. 4.05 Presentation and Update on the Classroom Speaker Program, including viewing of the promotional video produced by the WCSD Communications Department. Kendall introduced the video and informed the group there are 82 speakers signed-up. Kendall thanked Ben Rogers for his hard work as chair. She added staff is working on “What to Expect” one-page handouts for teachers and speakers.
