CCSU at St. Francis Brooklyn, 4 pm Sr., G/F, Allentown, PA/Mineral Area College Bryant at FDU, 4:30 pm Kohl has now made history by collecting his single-season league record sixth NEC Player of the Week Robert Morris at Saint Francis U, 7 pm accolade following two more superb all-around performances on CCSU’s swing through western Pennsylvania. He averaged 29.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 3.5 steals, and shot 40.0 percent from long range in a Blue Devils split. Kohl did all he could to help CCSU try and overcome a 21-point deficit in the final 10 minutes of a 90-85 setback at SFU, and in the process, became the only player in the nation this season to rack up 35 points, five rebounds, seven assists and four steals in a game. Two days later, he poured in 23 more points, and added seven boards, five assists and three steals as the Blue Devils knocked off first place Robert Morris, 77-68. The Allentown, PA native now ranks second in the NEC in scoring (18.6), third in assists (4.8), fourth in rebounding (7.2) and sixth in steals (1.5). He leads CCSU in all four categories. NEC MEN’S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Vado Morse, Mount St. Mary’s 6’0”, 155 lbs. Fr., G, Suitland, MD/Bullis School Morse lifted his NEC Rookie of the Week award total to a conference-high five on the year, all coming over the last seven weeks. He contributed across the board, finishing with 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week for the Mount. After pitching in with eight points, six assists and a pair of steals in a loss at LIU Brooklyn on Thursday, Morse exploded for 23 points, seven rebounds and five dimes while hitting 9-16 shots from the floor as the Mountaineers handed Sacred Heart its first home conference loss with a 76-73 win at the Pitt Center. His 20-footer with 1:16 to play gave the Mount a five-point lead and helped hold off a late SHU rally. Morse paces all NEC freshman and ranks 12th overall with 14.0 ppg. The Mount has earned NEC Rookie accolades in 9-of-14 weeks this season, while Morse’s five honors ranks 10th on the league’s all-time list.     Saint Francis Wins Hugh Durham Classic First Postseason win for Red Flash since 1991 JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Saint Francis Men's Basketball team used a balanced scoring effort to knock off Jacksonville, 78-76, in the Hugh Durham Classic on Tuesday in the First Round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament. The Red Flash improved to 17-16 on the season and moves on to the Second Round of the CIT, with an opponent, date and location to be determined. Saint Francis earned its first postseason tournament win since its 70-64 victory over Fordham in the NCAA Tournament Play-In Game in 1991. SFU is now 5-5 all-time in postseason tournaments, with a 1-1 mark in the CIT. Sophomore Andre Wolford (Willowick, Ohio/Saint Ignatius) led the Red Flash with 13 points to earn Hugh Durham Classic MVP honors. Wolford played 17 minutes off the bench and hit five-of-eight shots, including three triples. Sophomore Scott Meredith (Pilot Mountain, N.C./Hargrave Military Academy (Va.)) posted a career-high 12 points off the bench, going four-of-five from three, while senior Georgios Angelou (Halkida, Greece/Lykeio Kanithou) had 10 points and five assists, also off the bench. Sophomore Josh Nebo (Houston, Texas/Cypress Lakes) recorded his eighth double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds to go with three blocks. The Red Flash shot 50 percent from the field, going 31-of-62 from the floor, including 46 percent from three, hitting 11-of-24 attempts. SFU was five-of-eight from the free throw line.

And no one has done it better than Saint Francis U redshirt senior guard Isaiah Blackmon (Charlotte, NC/West Charlotte), who was tabbed the NEC Player of the Year in a vote conducted by the league’s head coaches. NEC Rookie of the Year honors were awarded to Bryant freshman guard Michael Green III (Bronx, NY/Mount St. Michael Academy). NEC newcomer Merrimack took home a pair major awards. Senior forward Juvaris Hayes (Paterson, NJ/St. Anthony) was named the unanimous NEC Defensive Player of the Year, while Joe Gallo was also a unanimous pick as the Jim Phelan Coach of the Year after leading the Warriors to the NEC regular season title. Mount St. Mary’s sophomore guard Damian Chong Qui (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) claimed NEC Most Improved Player ac- colades. The honorees were announced this afternoon as a prelude to the 2020 NEC Men’s Basketball Tournament, which begins on Wednesday with quarterfinal play at four campus sites. There may not be a better story in the league than Blackmon, who made it back-to-back NEC Player of the Year honors for the Red Flash following Keith Braxton’s selection last season.

Following a regular season that saw him earn national acclaim, Mount St. Mary’s senior guard Junior Robinson (Mebane, NC/ Eastern Alamance) was unanimously named the NEC Player of the Year in a vote conducted by the league’s head coaches. NEC Rookie of the Year honors went to Robert Morris freshman forward Koby Thomas (Philadelphia, PA/Imhotep Charter). Mount St. Mary’s earned a second major honor when senior forward Chris Wray (Shelby, NC/Shelby (Fishburne Military School (VA))) was tabbed the NEC Defensive Player of the Year. Saint Francis U junior guard Andre Wolford (Willowick, OH/ Saint Ignatius) was voted the NEC’s Most Improved Player. Wagner’s Bashir Mason was chosen as the Jim Phelan Coach of the Year after leading the Seahawks to the NEC regular season title. The future also looks bright for the conference with 11 of the 15 All-NEC award recipients set to return next season, including five underclassmen.
