Through eight of nine BIG EAST games, Xavier has only allowed nine AUGUST (2-0) goals. In six of its BIG EAST losses, the final deficit was a single goal, keeping the Xavier Date Opponent Time offense within striking distance of its opponents. Allon’s second goal certainly did not lack dramatic flair, coming in the closing minutes of the second overtime at Ohio, giving the Mus- Date Opponent Time keteers the 3-2 sudden-death win. Allon currently rates second on the Mus- keteers with eight shots on goal. Even when she’s not scoring, Allon provides a Nov. 2 Creighton * W, 2-0 critical boost to the Musketeer offense. XAVIERHome games BOLD CAPS | * - BIG EAST Conference Match YOUTH MOVEMENT Xavier head coach Woody Sherwood brought in an eight-player recruiting class he described as “attacking,” hoping to bring some fire to the Musketeer offense. The newcomers have made their presence felt right away, each of them appearing at least once in the first seven games. Forward Kenadie Carlson lived up to that reputation in Xavier’s first win at IUPUI, taking four shots and scoring the first goal of her Xavier career in the 2-0 win. Freshmen midfielder Maddie Tierney has also made an impact for the Musketeers, starting in 15 of Xavier’s matches and earning a critical assist on the game-winning goal against Ohio Northern. Freshmen Gabby LaMere, Carly Alfano, Bri Timko and Skylar Groth have also made appearances in the Musketeers’ starting lineup.

KOBASHIGAWA’S PRESEASON HONORS Xavier women’s soccer sophomore Courtney Kobashigawa earned a spot on the College Sports Madness BIG EAST Preseason All-Conference Women’s soccer second team. Kobashigawa, a Hawaii native who at- tended high school in Dublin, Ohio, started all 18 games for the Musketeers during her freshman season in 2013. The defender was part of the Xavier backline that recorded eight shutouts during the 2013 season, Xavier’s first winning season (9-8-1) since 2005.

CINCINNATI-AREA MUSKETEERS Six 2014 Musketeers hail from the Greater Cincinnati area. Senior co-captains Katie Markesbery and Katie Schweer, as well as junior Megan Dalton call Cincinnati their hometown. Markesbery, a goalkeeper, is a graduate of Indian Hill High School. Midfielder Schweer graduated from St. Ursula Academy, while Dalton, a defender, is a graduate of Anderson High School. Sophomore midfielder Maggie Hare is a native of West Chester, Ohio, graduated from Lakota West High School. Xavier’s two Kentucky natives, sophomore forward Ellie Eckerle and freshman midfielder Maddie Tierney, both call Villa Hills, Ky. home, and are graduates of Notre Dame Academy.
