If back-to-school shopping is on your to-do list, your may find your best bargains online.

David Gregg, senior editor of BehindtheBuy.com, visited The Early Show to tell viewers which sites have the best prices and selections:

David told parents where to go for the best deals on school supplies, kids' clothes, tech needs, and dorm room furnishings.

Most of the sites he suggests are those of big-box stores. Why not just visit the store itself?

According to David, online stores tend to have a better, wider selection than brick-and-mortar stores, and the sites are much less likely to run out of stock during this busy time of year. Also, many stores are offering special online deals, along with free shipping on back-to-school items. Finally, while there are plenty of specialty online-only retailers out there, you know that the big- name stores have solid return policies.

With that in mind, below are the sites that David recommends:

Best for Basic School Supplies: Staples.com The Staples website features a special back-to-school section that also includes an area featuring limited time, 50%-off offers on all the stuff that makes learning and doing school work possible (pens/pencils, notebooks, glue, scissors, backpacks, etc…)

Best for Kids Clothes: Sears.com As consumers continue to gravitate towards bargains, discount retailers are going all out to attract back to school shoppers. The new trend: Retailers partnering with major Hollywood studios to attract this lucrative market. For instance, at Sears kids have a chance to win a concert with mega star Vanessa Hudgens (of the movie High School Musical Fame ) at their own school. Sears also has LL Cool J's clothing line, a Hannah Montana clothing line and more David believes parents will enjoy the Sears site because it combines an easy-to-navigate breakout of fashions by size, gender and grade level, combined with aggressively low pricing.

Best for Tech Tools: Amazon.com Yes, believe it or not, David doesn't suggest heading to Best Buy, Circuit City or another electronics retailer. He's found the best prices on Amazon. "Amazon's offerings are delivered in an objective and user-friendly format allowing the consumer to search by price, features and popularity," David said. "There is a special section on the homepage of the site dedicated to the back-to-school season.' Best Dorm Room Bedding: BedBathandBeyond.com Most dorm room beds these days require extra-long bedding, and this retailer has a huge online selection of prices, styles and colors. The site is actually a great place to go for many dorm-room essentials, according to David, and any parent in need of the ultimate checklist of must-have items for a child heading off to college can print out BB&B's comprehensive list for free. Best Dorm Room Appliances: Target.com Every dorm room these days is outfitted like a hotel, which means your college student is going to want every small appliance on the market!
