ALTA Announces Resignation of Executive Director

Executive search underway for successor to lead continued advancement of region’s air transport industry as economic driver

Miami, Florida (March 23, 2017) – ALTA (the Latin American and Air Transport Association) today announced that its Executive Director Eduardo Iglesias will leave the association in a couple of months following nearly four years of service.

ALTA’s Executive Committee has begun the search process for a successor to lead the association’s continued advancement of the region’s air transport industry as the vital economic engine driving social and economic growth and development in the communities it serves.

“As someone who is passionate about our industry, this was a tough decision,” said ALTA’s Executive Director Eduardo Iglesias. “I remain committed to serving ALTA’s mission in advancing the industry’s efforts while, at the same time, transitioning to a new professional opportunity. I would like to thank ALTA’s Executive Committee and CEOs for their support.”

“On behalf of ALTA, I would like to thank Eduardo for his many years in serving as ALTA’s Executive Director and being instrumental in continuing to grow and develop the region’s air transport industry into what today has become the public transport of the 21st century,” said ALTA’s President Enrique Cueto. “We wish Eduardo and his family all the best in their future endeavors.”

Throughout his tenure as ALTA’s executive director, Iglesias has led the association’s efforts and initiatives to make Latin American and Caribbean aviation safer, more efficient, and more environmentally friendly. ALTA also strengthened key relations with local, regional and international associations, organizations and authorities, elevating ALTA’s position in supporting its members on multiple fronts, including safety and security, efficiency and productivity, and adopting new international environmental rules. In addition, Iglesias has expanded the association’s industry affairs efforts, strengthened its fraud prevention committee, and increased MRO/purchasing procurement initiatives.
