No. TEM-2010/(45/2010)/TE-4 Dtaed 18th February 2010 issued by the Higher and Technical Education Department, Mantralaya Annexe, Mumbai-400020 1.0 Introduction The entrance examination for the selection to all Health Science Degree Courses, Engineering and Pharmacy degree courses in State of Maharashtra for the academic year 2010-2011 was conducted by the Competent Authority appointed by Government of Maharashtra on Thursday, 6th May 2010, at all the district headquarters in the State of Maharashtra. This brochure gives the rules and information regarding the eligibility for admission to first year of various courses in Engineering/Technology in the State of Maharashtra and also gives definition of various types of candidatures. These rules govern the aspects of the Centralised Admission Process and it also gives the rules and information regarding the Distribution of seats under various heads i.e. Home University, Outside Home University, Institute level seats, Minority seats, AIEEE seats etc.; details of the Reservation of seats, Fees concession offered to eligible candidates, details of the Centralized Admission Process (CAP), details of the Admission rounds, Institute/course wise Information, etc. The admissions of the Autonomous Institutes [viz. i) Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), Mumbai, ii) College of Engineering, Pune, (COEP), iii) Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering & Technology (SGGSIET), Nanded, iv) Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli, (v) Vishwakrma Institute of Technology, Pune (VIT)] and Deemed University i.e (vi) Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai is being separately carried out by the competent authority appointed for these institutes. There will be a separate Information Brochure specifying the rules of admission to the above mentioned Autonomous institutes / Deemed University. These rules also incorporate the guidelines (Annexure-II) for the rules of admissions, which are to be carried out by the Unaided institutes for Institute level seats and for the seats remaining vacant after the Centralized Admission Rounds. SSC Secondary School Certificate (10th Level) TFWS Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme 1.2 Definitions: 1. ‘State Government’ means the Government of Maharashtra. 2. ‘Director’ means the Director of Technical Education, Maharashtra State. 3. "Application Form" means prescribed form filled up by the candidate online for admission 4. “Competent Authority” means the Authority headed by the Director of Technical Education, Maharashtra State, shall be the authority for Centralised Admission Process and direct the students as per their allotment through CAP to all colleges. 5. ‘Representative of the Competent Authority’ means an officer appointed to assist Competent Authority for smooth conduct of Admission Process as per the directives of the Competent Authority. 6. “Qualifying examination” means examination on the result of which a candidate becomes eligible for admission i.e. HSC(12th standard) or equivalent examination DTE, Mumbai Admission Brochure 2010 2 Engineering/Technology 7. ‘College’ or ‘Institution’ means Engineering College or Technological Institution duly approved by the AICTE and Government of Maharashtra to impart Education in Engineering/ Technology at the degree level. 8. ‘Government Engineering College’ means the Engineering College run by the Government of Maharashtra. 9. ‘Government Aided Engineering College’ means Engineering College run by private management but which receives financial assistance from the Government of Maharashtra. 10. ‘University Managed Engineering College’ means Engineering College run by a particular University. 11. ‘University Department’ means a department of University which offers four year degree courses in Engineering/Technology. 12. ‘Autonomous Institute’ means the institute for which autonomy is granted by the Government of Maharashtra. 13. ‘Un-Aided Engineering College’ means Engineering College runs by private management on self financing basis.
