And it’s beginning to look a little like a north- ern Christmas on Anna Maria Island. For nearly a week the sky has been alternately gray and sunny, an all-too-familiar scene before a snowfall if you’re a transplant to Florida. The air has been crisp and cool in the mornings, and balmy by mid-afternoon, but bringing a chill as the sun sets. It is a change of season, of sorts, for Floridians. A little welcome rain. No snow, thank you. Lots of holiday lights around the Island are what help create the excitement and joy of the holiday for young and old. It’s a fun time to bike or trolley about to catch the “spirit” from neighbors and businesses. And “wow!” Santa Claus was everywhere on the Island in recent weeks, and he was generous to chil- dren who attended the many parties. It was great to see the joy on their faces and we can’t help but thank all who made it possible. The Sandbar hosted its 15th annual Lawton Chiles Christmas for Kids, and kids were feted with gifts, food and fun with lots of clowns, elves and fun characters. It was a holiday treat just to see the joy on the children’s faces. It’s heartwarming to say the least. The same was true at the Moose Lodge.
