HO ...ly, HO ..ly, HO ...ly is the Lord God Almighty. Who was, and is , and is to come...The real Father of Christmas!! We are now entering the most exciting season of all. You only have THE HARROWDENS WITH ISHAM, to look at our children’s faces to know that something special is around the corner. Their lists ORLINGBURY AND PYTCHLEY MOTHERS’ UNION EVERYONE WELCOME PLEASE JOIN have already been written, their pocket money put aside for those special presents and their US FOR THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES letters sent off to Santa, reminding him that they have been ‘fairly’ good...and Oh, don’t forget that some of us have moved house!! So we must remember those all important sign posts in the garden....Santa..Stop Here.

Cliff and I are really looking forward to sharing our first Christmas with you all and we pray that the many services and get -togethers in the next few weeks will be a real blessing to you all. But, let’s for a moment step out of our comfort zone and spend a few moments thinking what Christmas means to those in other countries where food is scarce, and survival is the only item on their lists. Thousands of men women and children continue to die through hurricanes, earthquakes and war resulting in hunger and yet over twenty million pounds is spent on the national lottery each week. What a crazy world we live in and the Prince of Peace was born into such a world...in the land where even today the Jews and the Palestinians are still fighting over land which doesn’t even belong to them, but belongs to God. Crazy ! Over 2,000 years ago, this hurting and divided world was given an indescribable gift. It was given another chance to have things put right. It was given God’s one and only Son..the Messiah, the Anointed One...He, who was promised throughout the history of mankind came as a little defenceless, vulnerable baby and He came to change the world. He came to show that there is another way to live...He came to turn hatred into love, war into peace, prejudice into acceptance, and He can still do those things if we allow Him into our lives. For unto us a child is born to us a Son is given, and He will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Might God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

But if the world is to change, it has to begin with me and you. If the world is to ‘see’ Jesus, He will only be seen in the lives of those who love Him and follow Him. I remember ( not so long ago… mmm !! ) when I was in Sunday School, we used to sing a children’s song... ‘ Jesus bids us shine with a clear pure light.....you in your small corner, and I in mine.’ No doubt our churches will be aglow with many candle -lit services and the whole atmosphere of Jesus, the Light of the World will be in the midst of us. But for some people, the world still remains a dark place, but where the light of Jesus shines, there is no darkness at all. So you shine in your corner and I in mine! Christmas gives us another wonderful oppor- tunity to share Jesus, and again this year through the work of Samaritans Purse and the shoe - boxes., the Children’s Socity through our Christingle services, or whatever other organisation you may support….so thank you to each of you who have supported this important work. What a generous contribution you have made towards helping vulnerable children in this country and abroad. So thank you to all of you who continue to bring God’s love into the world for others. Jesus is truly at work in our communities. So Cliff and I wish you all a very happy and blessed Christmas and hope that you will all be able to have a well deserved rest. God bless you all...... Reverend Toni. ORLINGBURY Festive Cheer and mulled wine Come and join the Wollaston Salvation Army band for carol singing in the Queen’s Arms pub on Thursday 8 7h December at 7.30pm. SUNDAY J.A.M. ISHAM CRICKET CLUB www.ishamcc.co.uk Club news The summer may be over but the work does not stop. We have had a busy few months since the season finished with some excellent work taking place off the field. We have had the great news that our grant applicaon for new nets has been approved. Thanks to the SUEZ Communies Trust, we have been given a significant sum of money to replace our red, old net facility with some superb new ones. The construcon work is due to start in the new year and everything should be in place for the start of the 2018 season. Thanks must go to Jane Chudley, Bill Chudley and Alan Robinson for all their efforts to make this possible and ensure our club was chosen above all the other applicants. Another success comes in the shape of our re -applicaon for Clubmark status. Clubmark is a Sport accreditaon which only the best run, most inclusive, safe and successful clubs across the country are able to aain.
