A lot of the jokes go over my head, as they are references to a lot of japanese political and cultural activities from the era, but they have a wonderful glossary of sorts at the back if you missed some of the puns. Manga artist Koji Kumeta has created a very unique world in which old-fashioned Japanese culture such as kimono costumes and old wood school buildings co-exist with modern technologies like cell phones and pop culture references. There's so much language-based humor that a lot of it gets lost in translation, but sometimes the conceptual understanding of it is enough to make you laugh. Fujiyoshi the "fujoshi" and the bald guy whose name I aptly cannot remember right now, fitting his character will not get chapters until the next volume, though I feel the anime introduced them before it did the "normal" girl. The setup for this adult-ish manga is simple if weird: a suicidal teacher is stopped from hanging himself by a student whose optimism goes way over the border into ditziness she doesn't ever seem to notice anything awful, even if it's right in front of her.
