FROM THE ARCHIVES By Bloomsburg University Archivist Bob Dunkelberger

The Bloomsburg defense has surrendered just 154 points in its first 11 games, the third best mark in program history. The only -sea sons with fewer points were in 1985 when the team was 11-0 and gave up 118 and in 2009 when it had surrendered 147 with an 8-3 record.

Bloomsburg’s record-tying streak of having scored at least 30 points in eight straight games ended at Slippery Rock, but the Hus- kies have scored at least 20 in 14 consecutive contests. That is tied for third most in program history (2004-2005). The only longer streaks are 21 (2011-2013) and 17 (2000-2001). The team has scored 20 or more points in 55 of its last 58 games.

The Huskies all-time record in postseason games at Redman Stadium is 5-3, with two consecutive defeats since the last win in 2008. Their cumulative scoring in those eight games is 272-234, winning by an average of 34-29.

The upcoming game with Virginia State is the first with that school and seventh overall against a team from Virginia. Bloomsburg is 3-3 in the previous six, 2-1 against Norfolk State, 1-0 with Hampton and 0-2 against James Madison. The games were played from 1985-1989 and 2006, with the 1985 victory over Hampton the only postseason game and only one played in Redman Stadium. Satur- day’s game will be the 77th in school history against an out-of-state team. In the previous 76, the Huskies are 42-32-2, with a record of 24-9-1 at home and 18-23-1 on the road.
