Box 30726, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia ([email protected]) ABSTRACT The study of somatic embryogenesis in Juniperus communis has been conducted as a preliminary study for the further development of somatic embryogenesis, micropropagation and long-term conservation/cryopreservation in Juniperus procera, which is economically and ecologically important and endangered forest species in Ethiopia. The aim for this particular research was initially an adaptation of optimum half strength lithium chloride-sodium propionate (LP) medium protocol for growth and proliferation of embryogenic culture. But as other conifer species it was difficult to stop proliferation of somatic embryo cell division and bring them to maturation stage. However using optimal concentration of ABA (32 mg/l), it was possible to get maturation response in most of the cultures. Additional study on the effect of seed extraction to the growing embryogenic culture showed no effect on mature somatic embryos. Rather they were showing faster growth which increases embryogenic mass of each culture. It was also observed that green premature seeds of Juniperus are suitable for the initiation and proliferation of somatic embryo. INTRODUCTION Juniperus procera is an evergreen dioecious, more seldom monoecius tree, which belongs to the family Cupressaceae. It is the tallest/largest juniper tree in the world (Pohjonen and Pukkala, 1992; Negash, 1995). It has two developmental phases, the juvenile and the adult stage. They are characterized by their distinctive trunk and crown shapes. -

It noticed in the State of Qatar, sales of herbs and Myrrh Gargle has escalade since the surgency of COVID-19 cases, so is there a belief in Myrrh's effectiveness to be used during COVID-19? Studying the effectiveness of Myrrh mouthwashes to combat COVID-19 can emerge as a promising avenue in the field of research. -

Dose was selected from the literature and the dose chosen for the study is 200 mg/kg, a small trial on acute toxicity was used to confirm the dose by using 2000 mg/kg, and there was no mortality found, so 1/10 th of this dose was chosen for analgesic activity. Normally herbal drugs are free of side effects and available in low cost. The methanolic extract of Anogeissus latifolia at 200 mg/kg showed a significant analgesic activity in tail immersion, tail flick, and hot plate model when compared to that of standard drug. ABSTRACT Combretaceae, the family of flowering plants consisting of 20 genus and 600 important species in respective genus. The two largest genera of the family are Combretum and Terminalia which contains the more no. of species. The members of the family are widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Most members of the trees, shrubs or lianas of the combretaceae family are widely used medicinally. The members of this family contain the different phytoconstituents of medicinal value e.g tannins, flavonoids, terpenoids and alkaloids. Most of the species of this family are used as antimicrobial, antioxidant and antifungal. The biological activities of the some members of this family yet not found.
