Group visits to Watts Gallery - Artists’ Village Thank you for your enquiry about visiting Watts Gallery - Artists’ Village. Everything you need in order to plan your visit is in this information pack. Please complete the enclosed booking form and return to [email protected] to confirm your booking. The Artists’ Village Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village is the home, studios, gallery and joint architectural legacy of the great Victorian artist George Frederic Watts (1817-1904) and renowned designer Mary Watts (1849-1938), champions of Art for All. Our permanent collection displays paintings, sculptures, drawings and pottery by George and Mary as well as Watts Chapel, Mary’s masterwork. Visitors can see the De Morgan Collection, on long-term loan, discover contemporary art in Watts Contemporary Gallery and explore our beautifully landscaped woodlands and grounds. Students and National Art Pass holders receive discounted entry at the rate of £4.75. Each group member also enjoys a 10% discount in our shop during your visit. Tours, talks and workshops: We offer a range of guided tours, talks and workshops for groups. Tours range from 40 minutes to full day itineraries and start from £4 per person. All of our spaces can also be self-guided apart from Limnerslease house, which is accessible by tour only. One of our experts can come to your group for an off-site talk for just £85. Foreign language tours are available in French, Italian, German and Spanish. Audio-visual tours are available for blind and partially sighted visitors. If you would like to book a tour, talk or workshop for your group, please tick the corresponding box on our booking form. Catering The Tea Shop opens at 10.30am daily and can provide a variety of refreshment and lunch options. Starting from £3 per person, groups can enjoy sandwich platters, afternoon tea or other light refreshments, with exclusive use of the Old Kiln. We strongly suggest pre-booking catering, as we do not re- serve tables in the Tea Shop and it can get very busy. A sample itinerary for a full day visit to the Artists’ Village As a rough guide for planning your day, here is a suggested itinerary for your visit. This is completely flexible, and you can pick and choose what you wish to include on the booking form. 10.30am — Arrive at Watts Gallery - Artists’ Village. A member of our Visitor Services Team will welcome your group and provide an overview of your day. 10.30 – 11am — Teas, coffees and biscuits in the Old Kiln. 11am - 12.15pm — Guided tour of Limnerslease. Explore the Wattses’ home: one of the most celebrated Arts & Crafts houses in Surrey, designed by the famous architect Sir Ernest George. 12.15 - 12.45pm — Free time to explore Watts Studios. Discover our newest museum space with the first-ever gallery of Mary’s works and a recreation of George’s studio. 12.45 - 13.30pm — Guided tour of Watts Gallery. Join one of our expert tour guides to discover the most famous, beautiful and challenging paintings and sculptures by England’s greatest Victorian artist, G F Watts. 13.30 - 14.30pm — Lunch in the Old Kiln. Enjoy a light lunch catered by our award-winning Tea Shop. Browse the gifts, ceramics, clothing and children’s toys in our shop. 14.30pm – 15.00pm — Free time to explore the temporary exhibition and the De Morgan Collection. Enjoy the flexibility to wander the gallery at your own pace. 15 - 16.15pm — Guided tour of Watts Chapel. Discover Mary Watts’s Grade I listed Arts & Crafts masterpiece, created with people from the local village of Compton. 16.30pm — Departure. Accessibility Watts Gallery, Watts Studios, the shop and the Tea Shop are fully accessible. Dedicated parking spaces are available for disabled visitors and wheelchairs are available on site. We regret that Limnerslease and Watts Contemporary Gallery are not currently wheelchair accessible. There is a short uphill walk to both Limnerslease and Watts Chapel. Please advise your group to wear comfortable shoes. Large print interpretation is available in Watts Gallery and Watts Studios and for the temporary exhibitions. Making a booking: Follow these simple steps to get your group booked in for a visit. • You’ve already downloaded your information pack and booking form. Should you need a replacement for either, you can download them online from our Group Visits page at wattsgallery.org.uk/group-visits. • Next, call or email us to confirm that your chosen date is available. We try to admit a maximum number of two groups per day to ensure the spaces are not overcrowded and that you’re able to have an enjoyable visit. • Once you’ve spoken to us and settled on a date, complete the booking form and return it to us by email or post. When we receive your completed booking form, we will confirm with you by email and enter your details into our booking system. • Contact us at least two weeks before your visit to confirm final group numbers for catering and tours, including the number of students and National Art Pass holders. We ask that both admission and catering fees are paid together two weeks before your visit. Altering or cancelling your booking: • In the event that you need to cancel a booking or if there are any changes to the details of your booking, please let us know as soon as possible. If you cancel with less than a week’s notice, payment of your bill remains fully payable. • In case of a delay in arrival or last minute change in the number of visitors, please contact our Visitor Centre on the day of your visit from 10am on 01483 813593. To get to us by car or coach: • Take the B3000 from the A3 signed to Godalming/Compton (brown tourist signs to Watts Gallery). • At the roundabout at the end of the slip road take the first left onto the B3000. • Take the first left onto Down Lane. The Artists’ Village is a few hundred metres down the road. Coach Drop off and Parking Watts Gallery - Artists’ Village is pleased to welcome coach parties. However, there is no coach parking on the Artists’ Village Estate. We recommend that coaches drop their group off at the entrance to the Visitor Centre and park at Loseley Park, approximately 7 minutes drive from the Artists’ Village. Please park in the far corner of the car park at Loseley Park. Please note: some satellite navigation systems recommend routes to Loseley Park via Sandy Lane or Polsted Lane. These are not accessible to heavy vehicles. Please use Down Lane and The Street to reach Loseley Park (postcode GU3 1HS). We offer free admission to coach drivers and cas also provide coach drivers with complimentary refreshments at Loseley Park upon request. Please note that this is only possible during Loseley’s public opening hours from May to September. Protecting the environment: We are committed to treating the rural environment in which we are situated in a sensitive way. Please help us to do this by adhering to the following advice: • Coach parties will be welcomed by a member of staff at the entrance to Watts Gallery Estate, where they should drop off their group. • We ask that groups stay on the coach until they are greeted and that the coach turn off its engine until it is time to depart. • Groups must organise a pick up time with their driver from the entrance of the Visitor Centre.
