Modern high School, Panaji; Hindi Visharad; Social and Political worker; knows Konkani, Marathi, Hindi, Gujarathi, Portuguese French and English; gave up studies and teaching profession to joint Quit Movement of 1942; to active part in liberation of India and ; for active participation of freedom struggle launched by Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia in 1946 was arrested and later deported; started educational institutions for rural masses and imbibed spirit of self reliance; prior to joining Janata Party was in ; In 1962 was elected unopposed to Reis Magos Village Panchayat and was its Sarpanch; was elected unanimously as Chairman, B.D.C., Bardez in 1963 later resigned in 1964; after liberation devoted to Panchayati Raj and co- operative movement; was founder member of Apex Co-operative Bank. The Goa State Co-operative Bank, Central Consumer Stores now the Goa Marketing Federation was also its Vice-Chairman and Chairman; was appointed a member of Lt. Governor’s Advisory Council in 1963, served as a member of Dias Committee on Land Reforms; served as a member of Rural Industries Committee of Government of Goa, Daman and Diu, in 1963; founded first rural bank through Kisan V.K.S. Society in 1964; Founded Kisan Shikshan Sanstha at Nerul; Member, Public Accounts Committee 1977-78; Member, Committee on Privileges 1977-78. Hobbies: Games and Reading.
