DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION AND RECREATION STATEWIDE DCR MULTI-USE TRAIL REPAIR PROGRAM FY16 ACCOMPLISHMENTS MYLES STANDISH STATE FOREST PATHWAYS ($58,786): Repaired and repaved 52 damaged path segments totaling 854 linear feet of bike trail Created 633 linear feet new natural surface hiking / mountain biking trail Installed 13 new routed “destinations and distance” signs Naturalized / restored 1,850 square yards of impacted forest WOMPATUCK STATE PARK TRAIL SYSTEM ($71,847): Removed three railroad track crossings and improved two intersections to enhance user safety on the paved bike paths Removed 5 gates and installed bollards to enhance user access to the paved pathway system Installed 6 new “destination and distance” signs, and 2 new trailhead cantilevered signs DESIGN AND PERMIT MYSTIC RIVER RESERVATION MISSING LINK ($31,000) Multi-use path segment between Auburn and Winthrop Streets, Medford UPPER CHARLES RIVER GREENWAY – WATERTOWN ($492,000) Reconstruct 5,000 linear feet of 10-foot wide multi-use pathway along the Charles River Reconstruct 5 boardwalks (total of 730 linear feet) along the multi-use pathway Replace 4 benches, and install 4 new destination and distance signs NICKERSON STATE PARK ($176,000) Patch and reconstruct 2,920 sy of paved bike path along the Ober, Cedar and Deer Park trails. Close 4,950 linear feet of unauthorized user-created trails around campgrounds 4 and 6 Construct a new sustainable trail connection between campground 6 and Cliff Pond Install new trail intersection signage PAUL DUDLEY WHITE BIKE PATH BOSTON ($1,098,000) Reconstructed over 11,000 linear feet of DCR’s most popular paved bike path from Artesani Playground to the Hatch Shell Replaced 1,490 linear feet of paved pathway with stabilized soil aggregate pathway Install new destination and distance directional signage DESIGN AND PERMIT MUDDY RIVER / FENWAY PATHWAY SEGMENT A new 10-foot wide paved connecting path along the newly day-lighted section of the Muddy River PITTSFIELD STATE FOREST: SKYLINE TRAIL Reconstruct tread and improve drainage along a 6-mile section of the Taconic Skyline Trail Install 2 new access gates Design and permit additional repairs and parking improvements FREETOWN / FALL RIVER STATE FOREST ($7,200): Reconstruct 300 linear feet of braided and damaged motorcycle trail along the Landon Path WRENTHAN STATE FOREST: Repair damaged sections of pathways Reconstruct two bridges .
