GUNNEVERA was bumped soundly at the start, regrouped and settled three deep, moved between horses into the far turn, tucked in past the three furlong marker, altered out and split horses entering the stretch, kicked on well but was unable to bridge the gap. THUNDER SNOW (IRE) bumped at the break, was nudged into contention along the inside, attended the pace in hand, eased out a bit leaving the second turn to advance between runners, shifted back to the inside, briefly threatened the winner inside the sixteenth pole, but was unable to go on with that one. YOSHIDA (JPN) bobbled at the start, was unhurried four wide, tracked GUNNEVERA through the second turn to range into striking position, wheeled out six wide to sustain the drive into the stretch, loomed a danger but failed to seriously sustain the threat. MENDELSSOHN was away in good order, controlled the tempo while saving ground, came under pressure while meeting multiple challengers leaving the far turn, disputed the issue to the final furlong and gave in. LONE SAILOR broke slow and steadied off heels early, lagged at the tail of the field, came under a ride with three furlongs to run, split horses approaching the stretch, angled to the outside of YOSHIDA (JPN) in the upperstretch and continued on willingly. WEST COAST was forwardly placed four wide, bid between horses near the three furlong pole, pressed the matter to inside the five-sixteenths marker and weakened. DISCREET LOVER tucked in to save ground while well back, worked his way outward in midstretch but failed to make an impact. AXELROD settled four wide, made an aggressive early move four wide, offered a mild bid five wide nearing the quarter pole, but failed to sustain the drive.

Her first mating is planned to be with Coolmore's champion sire Galileo (Ire). Bred by Northern Farm and raced by Toji Morita, Deirdre's first three seasons of racing were restricted largely to Japan, where she won five races, including the G1 Shuka Sho. She also took third in the G1 Dubai Turf on her first start outside her native country. Following her return visit to the Dubai World Cup meeting in 2019, Deirdre travelled on to Hong Kong and then to Newmarket, which has subsequently remained her base for an ambitious international campaign. SATURDAY, JULY 4, 2020 DIVERSITY IN RACING: JONATHON KINCHEN MCKINZIE HEADLINES Horseplayer, NYRA/Fox Analyst, Co-creator In The Money LOADED RUNHAPPY Media What if one of racing's biggest moments had a Black person at MET MILE the center? Other sports have had such moments, from Doug Williams winning the Super Bowl to Tiger Woods's first Masters victory to Venus Williams winning Wimbledon. These moments made these sports more appealing to Black people because they saw people who looked like them achieving success at the highest levels. Racing in the modern era is still waiting for that moment. And for a sport that's been so traditionally white, that's been a barrier to Black people becoming fans and feeling welcome, even though we're 20 years into the 21st Century. WEST COAST Flatter – Caressing by Honour and Glory 2014 Bay l 16.2 Hands “An Eclipse Award winning champion, West Coast is by an outstanding sire son of A.P. Indy, out of a ChampionTwo-Year-Old Filly. West Coast earned a title as Champion Three-Year-Old Colt with five consecutive victories, four in stakes events, and ran 1-2-3 in six consecutive grade one events, including when capturing the Travers Stakes (G1) and Pennsylvania Derby (G1). He is by Flatter, a leading stallion son of A.P. Indy, and sire of more than 50 stakes winners, and out of Caressing, Champion and Breeders’ Cup (G1) winner at two.“ The offspring of West Coast will be free of Northern Dancer at four generations on their sire’s side, and Flatter has crossed well with a wide variety of broodmare sires from that line. The cross with mares from the Danzig branch of Northern Dancer has been particulary productive with seven stakes winners, including graded stakes winners Classic Point and Mad Flatter out of mares by Langfuhr and Honor Grades (who gives inbreeding to the dam of A.P. Indy), and there are also stakes winners out of mares by War Front – who appears particularly interesting here, giving inbreeding to Relaunch and a full-sister – Danzig Connection, Ghazi and Military (who would be intriguing here).

PASSPORT OVERVIEW As the youngest half-sister to the dominant and spectacular RUSHING FALL, QUEEN ELI represents a young and exciting addition to any broodmare band. In foal to MORE THAN READY's dual-surface Grade 1 winning son CATHOLIC BOY, QUEEN ELI is offered in foal on a very similar cross to her 6x Grade 1 winning sister. This year, RUSHING FALL joined the likes of Champions LADY ELI and BEHOLDER as the only mares to win Grade 1s at ages 2, 3, 4, and 5. In foal to CATHOLIC BOY QUEEN ELI HIP CANDY RIDE (ARG) – AUTUMNAL, BY FORESTRY 99 BARN 5 Selling Monday, November 9th RUSHING FALL: A QUEEN OF THE TURF Crossing the wire first in 11 of her 14 lifetime starts, the sensational RUSHING FALL- QUEEN ELI's half-sister- has recorded 10 lifetime Graded Stakes wins, 6 Grade 1 wins and over $2,500,000 in earnings. She is one of the most DOMINANT forces in the loaded filly/mare turf division and seems to be getting better with age. Not only did she score back- to-back editions of the G1 Jenny Wiley in course-record time, but she also achieved the rare distinction of winning a Grade 1 at ages 2, 3, 4, and 5. RUSHING FALL: A QUEEN OF THE TURF Earning Grade 1 wins at ages 2, 3, 4, and 5 is no easy task. Only two other mares have accomplished the feat since the start of the Graded Stakes era (since 1976)- Champions BEHOLDER and LADY ELI. RUSHING FALL is a true queen of the turf and is well on her way to running herself right in to the hall of fame.
