Toni Skellon has staged a number of high teas for charity in the past and says this year’s theme is all about women. “Flowers, femininity — just a real girl’s day out. “We are having a best dressed competi- tion again — but this year we are looking for the best flower crown,” she said. “You can use fake or real flowers, full crowns, fascinators, clips with flowers, whatever — it’s all up to your imagination. “There will also be auctions, lots of spot prizes and raffles.” The high tea/lunch is at the Memorial Hall, from 12.30-3.30pm and is a fundraiser to support the Lions Cancer Lodge. Last minute deals are now available to help fill the venue — tickets are $35, and a second ticket is $15. They are available from Mrs Skellon (ph 027 301 9315) or Mint. Police probe continues into deaths

Waikato Police are continuing their investigation into the deaths of Clare Bremner, Mona Tuwhangai and Maurice O’Donnell, who died in Otorohanga and Kinohaku last month. Waikato CIB Detective Senior Ser- geant Ross Patterson says based on enquiries to date, Police believe Clare Bremner was still alive at 4.19pm on Tuesday, October 4 and died sometime before Police were called to the family’s Cruden Avenue address in Otorohanga at approximately 8.30pm that night. Police have also received accounts that the vehicle used by Ross Bremner was seen at the Kinohaku address earlier that day. It has not yet been established what time the couple at Kinohaku died. Police are still trying to establish why Ross Bremner was at the Kinohaku address and how he got there, but based on enquiries to date have been unable to confirm any connection between this address and the Bremner family’s. “Police are continuing to interview people and further forensic results are expected in the next two weeks, which investigators hope will paint a clearer picture of what occurred. The case remains under investigation and will be subject to a Coronial in- quest,” says Mr patterson. Keith Bremner continues to improve in Waikato hospital and is being supported by his family. Police ask anyone with information on this case to contact the Operation ARCTIC team on 07 858 6200. Alternatively, information can be re- ported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. 6 Te Awamutu Courier Tuesday, November 1, 2016 IN BUSINESS CIRCLES WHAT’S HOT Work and play combined HOT ■ Ladies in the Garden Centre of Mitre 10 Mega when my daughter and I went to buy some hanging baskets and plants. Te Awamutu riders Rebecca Petch and Molly Inia struck gold at the North Island BMX Cham- pionships in Cambridge. The duo spearheaded a Rosetown club team who fea- tured prominently throughout the two days of competition at Labour Weekend. Seven local riders in all made the podium, while another six made the top eight finals. Petch upset senior rivals to claim the elite women’s title. She beat off the challenges from high performance squad rider Hannah Sarten and Auck- land’s Zoe Fleming (just back from competing at the UCI World Cup in USA), winning all four races. The following day, Petch again triumphed when contesting six ‘money round’ Super Class races, finishing second in race one before string- ing together five wins on the trot. Her cousin Sarten finished second in both the elite women and super class.
