Ironically, the gala affair was in a crowded hall on Milwaukee’s mostly White South Side. After my father, Sanford Carter, left us on August 11, 1999, he was lovingly memorialized by many at St. Marks’ Church in Milwaukee. Among those in attendance were my two Milwaukee-born daughters -- Sherry Carter, of Black Entertainment Television -- Tracy, and their mother, Odell Carter, of Cleveland. And now sadly, one-time Milwaukeean, Henry “Hammerin’ Hank” Aaron, has left us down South. Both he and my father -- local Black baseball greats -- belong to the ages. Milwaukee native Richard G. Questions, concerns, and plans regarding the COVID-19 vaccinations will be addressed in a vir- tual town hall meeting on Wednesday evening. Medical professionals and public health officials will share authoritative information and provide perspective on issues raised by members of the public. Panelists include Interim Health Commis- sioner Marlaina Jackson and Chief Medical Of- ficer Dr. Heather Paradis of the City of Milwaukee Health Department. Milwaukee Board of Health member Julia Means, a registered nurse at Ascension Health, will join the panel along with Milwau- kee Mayor Tom Barrett. TMJ4’s Tony Atkins will moderate the discussion. “This is a great opportunity to offer reliable information on COVID-19 vaccinations and, more importantly, to listen to the very real con- cerns that people want to share,” Mayor Bar- rett said. “Our residents should be empowered with the information they need to make the best de- cisions – for themselves and for their family members.” The virtual town hall meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. To join the meeting, residents can register at bit.ly/CrushCovidTownHall. Questions for the panel can be submitted in advance at that same site. The town hall meeting will be aired live with captioning on the City Channel (Spectrum Channel 25 or milwaukee.gov/citychannel), livestreamed on Facebook @MKEhealth, and posted at milwaukee.gov/covidvax after the event.
