Key words : ,Iris dichotoma physiology ,transpiration rate Introduction 3000 800 The flora of Mongolia includes1a9t82leastIris species of vascular , and out of these approximately have been used for medicinal purposes ( Grubov , ) . species have been frequently used fo2r3the treatment of various diseases , such as bacterial infections , cancer and inflammation . From200th2e substances 1in2volved , comIrpisounds have been th‐us far succes‐sfully isolated and‐their identity revealed ( Purev et .al . , ) . A total of collections of species from deIsreisrt Gobi , steppe grassland , forest steppe , and mountains were20p0la4nted at the Botanical Garden in Ulaanbaatar , Mongolia . . species are an important medicinal plant group ( Enkhtuya2,004 ) . Phylogenetic relationship trees are useful for predicting medicinal compounds in other species ( Lkhagvasuren et al . , ) . DNA sequence data of this species have been submitted to Genbank . Materials and methods 1950 Water content , water deficit , and transpiration rate were determined by the methods of Ivanov et al . . Total plant genomic DNA was extracted with DNeasy Plant Mini Kit ( Qiagen , Hilden , Germany) . PCR amplification ( ) rp l16 rpl14 5摧‐ of the plastid DNA fragment between and ‐3摧 genes was perform5e摧d‐ with the sense primer AAAGATCTAGAT T TCG‐T3摧AAACAACATAGAGGAAGAA and antisense primer ATCTGCAGCAT T TAAAAGGG TCTGAGGT T3G73AATCAT . Sequencing was performed using d‐ye termination sequencing protocol . The reactions were analysed on a A Fluorescent Automated Sequencer ( Applied Bio systems , Perkin Elmer) . Results and discussion Iris dichotoma Collectio7n7s5of 81 8% from the grassland st1e3ppe 1w5e%re cultivated at the Botanical Garden . The average rate of transpiration for in the grassland steppe was . g / g /Ihricsodmicphaorteodmtao . g/ g / h in the Botanical Garden . Curves were developed for the daily and seasonal course of transpiration of growing in the Botanical Garden and the grassland steppe . Conclusions Iris dichotoma 9 3 Iris dichotoma The rate of transpiration of grown in the Botanical Garden was . times greater than in the grasslan1d9steppe . Plants growing in the Botanical Garden had several times greater numbers of reproductIirvies sdhicohootstompear plant and had times more flowers per p‐lant than plants from the grassland steppe .
