LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Lou Albano, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community WHEREAS, It is with great sorrow and deep regret that this Legislative Body records the passing of Lou Albano of Carmel, New York, noting the significance of his purposeful life and accomplishments; and WHEREAS, Born in Rome, Italy, Lou Albano moved with his family to the United States and settled in Mount Vernon, New York, where he wrestled and played football at Stepinac High School in White Plains; and WHEREAS, After attending the University of Tennessee on a football scholarship and serving in the United States Army, Lou Albano entered the pro wrestling circuit working for promoters Vince McMahon Sr. and later his son, Vince Jr., in the World Wide Wrestling Federation, now World Wrestling Entertainment; and WHEREAS, Initially a highly regarded tag team wrestler, Lou Albano became best known as the manager for some of the most successful wrest- lers during the 1970s and 1980s, including Ivan Koloff, the Wild Samoans, the Valiant Brothers, the Executioners and the Moondogs; and WHEREAS, A unique showman, Lou Albano was the forefather of the 1980s Rock 'n' Wrestling Connection, where his collaboration with pop singer Cyndi Lauper on several music videos helped usher in the crossover success of professional wrestling with a main stream audience; and WHEREAS, Capitalizing on his success, Lou Albano appeared on several episodes of "Miami Vice," and starred in "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show," a live action/animated feature; and WHEREAS, Lou Albano is survived by his wife, Geri, and four children and 14 grandchildren, all of whom felt privileged to be a part of his life and rejoiced in his many achievements; and WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit, imbued with a sense of compassion, and comforted by a loving family, Lou Albano leaves behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to mourn the death of Lou Albano, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran- smitted to the family of Lou Albano..
