In the American League's 6-3 victory in the 86th All-Star Game presented by T-Mobile in Cincinnati, Braun played in his franchise-record sixth All-Star Game with the club. It was No. 6 for Rodriguez as well, and his second with Milwaukee. Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina was the only active player on the National League roster with more All-Star appearances than either Brewers player. "They never get old," Rodriguez said. "I hope this isn't my last one. I hope to have another opportunity in the future." Braun did all he could in his only plate appearance of the night, leading off the bottom of the ninth inning with an 0-1 triple down the right-field line off Twins closer Glen Perkins. Braun scored the NL's third and final run of the game in the following at-bat when San Francisco shortstop Brandon Crawford hit a sacrifice fly to left. "The goal is to always contribute, always try to find a way to help your team win," Braun said. "We weren't able to do that tonight, but if I'm going to get in there, it's a lot better to get an extra-base hit and score a run than go 0-for- 1. It's always a lot of fun, just an incredible experience to be here. And it's nice to have a productive day on top of that." The triple was Braun's second at the Midsummer Classic, as he also hit one at the 2012 All-Star Game in Kansas City. Braun is now 3-for-11 in his All-Star Game career. Rodriguez was handed the ball for the seventh inning, given a tough act to follow after Jacob deGrom's dominating sixth frame. Rodriguez faced five batters and allowed two earned runs on a hit, a walk and a sacrifice fly. It was the first time in Rodriguez's six All-Star appearances that he conceded an earned run. "The fact that I'm here with these guys, I'm blessed," Rodriguez said. "I'm grateful for the opportunity and I just keep moving forward." Braun made it a point to give props to the Reds and their fans for the atmosphere that the All-Star weekend provided. "They did such a phenomenal job with the city," Braun said. "The energy and enthusiasm of the fans in Cincinnati was really special. It was fun to be a part of." http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/article/136764834/miller-park-treated-to-world-class-soccer Miller Park treated to world-class soccer By Brandon Curry / MLB.com | July 15, 2015 MILWAUKEE -- For the second straight year, the Brewers and Miller Park played host to an international soccer friendly, and for the second straight year, Milwaukee soccer fans filled the seats. Atlas Futbol Club of Mexican Liga MX and Newcastle United Football Club of the English Premier League played on a transformed Miller Park field Tuesday in front of a crowd of 21,256. The infield dirt and pitching mound were covered with temporary turf, while one goal was positioned in deep left field and the other near first base. The Mexican side ultimately prevailed, 2-1. "Everything was excellent," Club Atlas manager Gustavo Matosas said of playing at Miller Park. "The field was excellent. The people who work here were spectacular." Atlas forward Gonzalo Bergessio opened the scoring on a cool evening in the 11th minute after a sliding Jamaal Lascelles of Newcastle took him down in the box. Bergessio would get to his feet and net the awarded penalty. Six minutes later, the 30-year old Argentinian, who signed with the club in June, was at it again. Bergessio managed to get behind Newcastle's defense and scored a volleyed goal off a perfect pass from midfielder Cristian Tabó. "It was very important that he made those goals," Matosas said of Bergessio's first two goals with the club. "It will give him confidence moving forward." Newcastle's only goal came just before the halftime whistle. The attacking duo of Papiss Cissé and Moussa Sissoko worked to beat Atlas' defense in the 45th minute, with the Frenchman Sissoko finishing a pass from the forward. The second half offered no scoring and limited chances from either club, but the event was once again a success. "It was unusual," Newcastle manager Steve McClaren said of playing on a Major League Baseball field. "But [the atmosphere] was great. The fans were tremendous." Based out of Guadalajara, Club Atlas finished fourth last season in the Liga MX and has been a consistent member of the top Mexican division. Newcastle was founded in 1892 and plays in the Barclays Premier League, one of the most talented club leagues in world soccer. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/bill-schroeder-to-enter-brewers-wall-of-honor-b99538114z1- 315130011.html Bill Schroeder to enter Brewers’ Wall of Honor By Tom Haudricourt of the Journal Sentinel July 14, 2014 Former Milwaukee Brewers catcher and current television analyst Bill Schroeder will be enshrined on the Brewers Wall of Honor at Miller Park in a pregame ceremony Friday. The Wall of Honor, which was unveiled in 2014, commemorates Brewers players and broadcasters that meet a set criteria based on service to the club. The Wall of Honor is located outside of Miller Park on the north side of the stadium adjacent to the Hot Corner entrance. Honorees on the wall have a plaque with their photo and a brief synopsis of their career. The ceremony will be held before the Brewers' game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The longtime broadcaster will be accompanied by friends and family on the field and will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Schroeder returned for his 21st season in the Brewers broadcast booth this year. He began his career behind the mic as the Brewers' color man after retiring as a player. Schroeder spent eight seasons in the big leagues with the Brewers and California Angels, posting a career-best .332 batting average in 1987. He caught Juan Nieves' no-hitter on April 15, 1987 at Baltimore in the midst of the team's record-tying 13-0 start. In addition, he smacked a career-high 14 home runs with 42 RBI that season. Last year's inaugural class included 58 members. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/braun-shines-k-rod-struggles-in-all-star-game-b99537846z1- 315160171.html Braun shines; K-Rod struggles in All-Star Game By Associated Press July 14, 2015 Cincinnati — It was a star-crossed night for Milwaukee Brewers closer Francisco Rodriguez. He came on in the seventh inning in a set-up role with the American League clinging to a 3-2 lead in the All-Star Game on Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park. It did not go well. K-Rod gave up two runs on one hit as the AL went on to a 6-3 victory over the National League in the midsummer classic. Mike Trout, the reigning AL MVP who homered in his first at-bat, led off against Rodriguez and walked. Brock Holt pinch ran and stole second with Baltimore's Manny Machado at the plate. Machado then doubled off wall in right-center to drive in Holt. Rodriguez got Mark Teixeira to ground out to second, but Holt moved on to third. Former Brewer Prince Fielder added insult to injury with a sacrifice fly to left. It was Fielder's second RBI of the game. The outburst ended when J.D. Martinez grounded out to end the inning. That left Rodriguez's ERA for the night at a lofty 18.00. Milwaukee right-fielder Ryan Braun, who was booed during the pregame introductions, pinch hit to lead off the ninth. He tripled to right off Minnesota's Glen Perkins and scored on Brandon Crawford's sacrifice fly. Warm welcome: Pete Rosecame home for the game and made a rare on-field appearance in the place where he's still treated like a king. The hits king was voted one of Cincinnati's Franchise Four players as part of a Major League Baseball promotion. Rose and Hall of Famers Johnny Bench, Barry Larkin and Joe Morgan were introduced on the field before the game. The 74-year-old Rose was last out of the AL dugout. Fans started chanting "Pete! Pete!" when they saw him reach the top step, wearing a red jacket and tie. He always gets a good reception in his hometown. This one was a bit more subdued than usual — home run derby champion Todd Frazier got a more raucous cheer, and the boos for St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina were louder, as well. Even so, Rose acknowledged it was emotional. "The only bad thing about being out there: I didn't get no at-bats," Rose said afterward. "I wish I had gotten a couple of at-bats.

  • Ryan Braun's Positive Steroid Test OVERVIEW Ryan Braun Is A
Ryan Braun’s Positive Steroid Test OVERVIEW Ryan Braun is a professional baseball player for the Milwaukee Brewers. After making his Major League debut in 2007, Braun went on to become one of baseball’s premier players. In 2011, Braun ascended to the top of the baseball world, winning the National League’s Most Valuable Player award for the excellent play he provided in leading the Brewers to their first division title in nearly 30 years (Jackson, 2011). In 2012, Ryan Braun signed a five year, $105 million contract extension that will keep him in a Brewers jersey until 2020 (Pierce, 2012). This move established Braun as the face of the Brewers franchise and as an unofficial spokesman for the entire state of Wisconsin. On Dec. 11, 2011, Braun tested positive for an elevated synthetic testosterone level just a few months removed from winning the MVP award (Nightengale, 2011). Major League Baseball bans its players from using performance-enhancing drugs and was set to suspend Braun for the first 50 games of the 2012 season (Fainuru-Wada & Quinn, 2011). Braun stated the positive result of the urine sample he gave was “BS” and that he would appeal the result through Major League Baseball’s players union (Nightengale, 2011). Braun won the appeal of his suspension on Feb. 24, 2012 (Pierce, 2012). His convincing argument centered on details of improper collection of his urine. The urine collector did not send Braun’s sample to the testing lab within the time allotted to do so. Many believed Braun got lucky because he did in fact have an illegal level of synthetic testosterone in his system.

MEDIA CLIPS – Oct. 29, 2018 Rockies decline Parra's option for 2019 Do-Hyoung Park | MLB.com | Oct. 30th, 2018 The Rockies have declined a $12 million club option on outfielder Gerardo Parra for the 2019 season, exercising a $1.5 million buyout on Tuesday to make him a free agent. Parra appeared in 142 games in 2018 but started only 97 of them as a platoon outfielder, primarily in left field. He hit .284/.342/.372 in the final year of a three-year, $27.5 million contract inked prior to the 2016 season. The two-time National League Gold Glove Award winner lost playing time toward the end of the regular season when David Dahl returned from injury and Matt Holliday made his return to Colorado in August. The left-handed-hitting Parra, 31, struggled to live up to expectations in his first year with Colorado in 2016, hitting .253 with a .671 OPS, but he rebounded in '17 with career highs in average (.309) and RBIs (71). He spent the first five-plus seasons of his 10-year career with the D-backs before brief stints with Milwaukee and Baltimore prior to his arrival in Denver. Still, the Rockies will entertain the idea of agreeing to a less expensive deal with Parra, who showed value as a pinch- hitter this season by batting .393/.433/.536 with one homer, one double and two walks in 30 plate appearances. Franchise mainstay Carlos Gonzalez and Holliday are also free agents again for the Rockies. Colorado has two starting outfield positions locked up for 2019 between Dahl and three-time All-Star Charlie Blackmon, who in April was extended through the '21 season with player options for '22 and '23.
