Update on 2012 Lambeth Secondary Transfer Process

1. Context

1.1 This was the 7 th year that Lambeth Council’s implementation of the Pan-London Secondary Transfer procedure. The 2012 outcomes are as follows:

1.1 162 more online forms received this year than last year. This is a 7% increase.

1.2 A total of 24 less applications received this year compared to 2011.

1.3 There is an increase in the number of 1st - 3rd pref offers, which reflects the decrease of 4th - 6th pref offers.

1.4 A total of 15 more PREFERRED offers were made this year compared to 2011

1.5 Lambeth Admissions made 31 more ALLOCATED offers this year compared to 2011. This is due to the increased places for boys at St Gabriel's College.

1.6 The total number of ALL offers made to Lambeth residents is 45 more than 2011

1.7 The total number of NO OFFERS made to Lambeth residents is reduced by 70 ; from 105 in 2011 to 35 for this year.

1.8 This represents the lowest number of 'no offers' since Lambeth started coordinating admissions in 2005. These will be managed, along with any late applications, and it is anticipated that later offers (post National Offer Day) will be made to these 35 children before September 2012.

1.9 We understand that Durand have made 125 Year 7 places available to their existing Year 6. Although we have been able to obtain some information from them about this it has been insufficient to allow us to coordinate those applications and this may cause some disturbance in the process, both in Lambeth and adjoining boroughs, as well as distorting the statistics above. It is likely that there are more applications in the system than shown but also a number of offers may be made to other schools for pupils planning to take up a place at Durand. These duplicate offers, once resolved, are likely to result in all children currently without an offer securing a place.

1.10 The preference data (how many preferences were included on individual CAFs) are as follows:

One preference only 134 Two preferences only 220 Three preferences only 503 Four preferences only 542 Five preferences only 329 Six preferences 668 TOTAL 2396

1.11. The destination details of the 2361 Lambeth children made an offer are as follows:
