August 2012- Slovenia HESS-Power Utility Key: EIA-Environmental Impact Assessment for HPP Brežice on Sava River, cross-border impact November Team Leader assessment, issues of deviation from good surface water and groundwater status and 2013 Mr Silvester Jeršič ecology status according to WFD, partial reports for IFI (IMF) 120 m/d Silvester.Jersic@ Project is a complex multipurpose water resources usage development serving for electricity he-ss.si production, agricultural, urban and many other purposes. On the basis of EIA report acceptance an environmental consent will be issued. There is 15 different sectors involved, from nature, waste, noise etc. form whom partial consent has to be obtained. Separately, in a cross-border process an opinion of riparian country is obtained.

All activities regarding EIA working framework lining along: preparation-client-authorities have to be carefully co-ordinated for the positive outcome. Mitigation measures were crucial for nature protection.TL was in charge of negotiation with authorities, elaboration and evaluation of impacts, and presentation of EIA Report to Croatian authorities and banking institution.

November Montenegro UNDP Key: Model Template for Local Energy Plan with Capacity Building 2011 – Energy January 2012 Ms Snežana Consultant, Municipalities in MNE are responsible for the LEP. There was a decision to prepare Marstijepović Author Municipalities for that work, so template for LEP with instructions and good practice was prepared and presented at the workshops to the representatives held at three locations in snezana.marstijepovic the country. @undp.org 30 m/d Firstly, template for LEP was prepared in a local language, secondly harmonized with Government and thirdly workshops were held. Conclusions ad suggestions from workshops were taken into account in final report.

For this reason alternatives of the scheme were analyzed resulting in a proposal of the most acceptable one. Gathering of relevant biology data was key issue.

TL motivated broad scope of experts, mainly biologists in order to produce conclusive study. Negotiations took place with Nature Protection Agency, result was satisfactory. Solution for Natura 2000 was proposed and accepted.

TASKS: project management, contacts with municipalities along river, preparation of report inclusive comparison of alternatives in regard to spatial conditions, biota, and public acceptability, measures for mitigation of impacts on nature, technical concept of reservoir and power production.

December Slovenia Technomedica Ltd Key: Application for Obtaining Small HPP Concession on Sava Dolinka River-Basic Design 2010 – April Team Leader Basic Design with Investment program has been requested by authorities for obtaining 2011 Mr Jože Krušič consent. The site of the intake and power house is on the border of National Park, which 15 m/d proved to be real obstacle in licensing of the Plant at that time. With changing policy, joze.krusic@ attitude towards this particular object could be favorable. technomedica.si TL took care of co-ordination between electrical, machine and civil engineering part of design.

TASKS: preparation of concession application which included technical solution of sHPP and measures for mitigation of negative impacts on nature protected area, obtaining main consents from fisheries, nature protection and water management authorities. July 2010 – Slovenia Municipality of Bled Key: Full Cycle Project: Preliminary, Basic and Detailed Design with Supervision for Sewage and February 2013 Team Leader Pumping Stations on Location Bled Mr Matjaž Berčon 140 m/d Sewage planning for the tourist area of Bled was prepared. June 2010 – Slovenia SEL-Power Utility Key: TL Flood Discharge and Basic Minimum Flow Calculation of on the HPP Završnica October 2010 Mr Blaž Pišek 15 m/d Basic minimum flow was required in a stream after hundred years of the plant operation. TL managed the whole process and acted in the Client’s best interest. There was biologist engaged for the inventory of species and assessment of impacts if the water is returned to the stream. Archives were checked in order to obtain historical data.

December Montenegro IBI Canada Key: Nature Reserve Durmitor-Strategic Environmental Assessment 2009 - in Team Leader course Trevor McIntyre SEA for Nature reserve has been focused on the impacts prioritized according to the nature 70 m/d protection. Procedure and content of the assessment is regulated. Public hearing was carried tmcintyre@ out on the spot. Data were gathered from previous inventories of the terrestrial systems and IBIGroup.com studies done for the past fifty years.

Leading the group of biodiversity experts, mainly local, was challenging due to the fact that many endemic species are living in the area.
