Liga - 2. Croatia Cup, 24. - 25. rujna 2016. Dalmatin i Putnik na World cup of pool Pool - 2. HBL - III. turnir, 01. - 02. listopada 2016. Na Filipinima se od 6. – 11. rujna održava World cup of pool, SP u parovima, na kojem nastupaju predstavnici 31 države među kojima su i naši reprezentativci; Karlo Dalmatin i Ivica Putnik. Organizator natjecanja je Matchroom Sport pod izravnim pokroviteljstvom Svjetskog pool biljar saveza (WPA). Branitelj naslova je reprezentacija Kine u sastavu Fu Jianbo i Li Hewen, koji svu već dva puta osvojili ovo prestižno natjecanje. Za Hrvatsku će po prvi puta na ovom natjecanju igrati Karlo Dalmatin koji je najbolji rangirani hrvatski igrač na europskim i svjetskim rang listama u ovoj sezoni. Naš drugi najbolji rangirani igrač igrač je Ivica Putnik, možemo reći, veteran ovog natjecanja koji je do sada nastupao u paru s Filipom Stojanovićem. Od ostalih reprezentacija svakako treba izdvojiti branitelje naslova Kineze te uvijek jake domaćine Filipince predvođene Francisco Bustamanteom i Efren Reyesom. Svakako ne treba zaboraviti i super jake Engleze s Darren Appeltonom i Chris Mellingom koji igra sezonu života. Tu su još i Njemci s Ralf Souquetom i Thorsten Hohmanom, zatim predstavnici Tajvana... Hrvatska u prvom kolu 6. rujna u 15h igra s reprezentacijom Japana (deveti nositelji) za koju nastupaju aktualni svjetski prvak u devetci Yukio Akagariyama i Lo Li-wen, relativno nepoznati Tajvanac pod japanskom zastavom koji je sve iznenadio prošle sezone osvajanjem drugog mjesta na US Openu. Upravo to drugo mjesto Lo je naveo u svom profilu kao najveće razočaranje u njegovoj pool karijeri, jer se nakon zaostatka od 7:2 protiv Filipinca Lee Van Corteze potpuno vratio u meč i na 12:12 nije iskoristio priliku za pobjedu. Lo je i aktualni prvak Japana u disciplini straight pool. Japanac Yukio se osim naslova prvaka u devetci može pohvaliti i trećim mjestom na SP u desetci odigranom u svibnju ove godine te trećim mjestom na vrlo jakom međunarodnom turniru China Open 2011. Od međunarodnih rezultata hrvatskih predstavnika unazad godinu dana svakako treba izdvojiti Dalmatinovo deveto mjesto s SP u osmici s početka ove godine te 17.-to mjesto na SP u devetci dok je Putnik najbolji rezultat ostvario na Eurotour Italy 2010 s osvojenim petim mjestom. Putnik i Dalmatin su nositelji srebrne medalje s EP reprezentacija u lipnju prošle godine. Hrvatsku očekuje teška borba s devetim nositeljima Japancima koji su poznati po svom fanatičnom pristupu ali i opuštenoj igri . Igra parova je specifična i puno toga ovisi o usklađenosti para te motivaciji tako da su sve opcije otvorene. Otvaranje meča će biti ključ jer susret se u prvom kolu igra na osam dobivenih partija tako da se vrlo teško vratiti u susret nakon velikog zaostatka. Upravo ovu činjenicu su na najbolji način pobili Putnik i Stojanović na World cup of pool 2008 kada su se protiv Španjolaca vratili iz ponora i zaostatka 7:2 te pobijedili 8:7, ali to definitivno spada u iznimke a ne u pravila. Španjolci su tada na 7:2 imali dvije kugle na stolu kada je David Alcaide promašio omogućivši nevjerovatan povratak Hrvata u susret. Ne sumnjamo kako će Dalmatin i Putnik dati sve od sebe te dostojno predstaviti Hrvatsku na World cup of pool. Turnir se igra formatu jednostruke eliminacije s 32 reprezentacije. Igra se winner break u prva dva kola do 8, u četvrt finalu i polufinalu do 9 a u finalu do 10. Na turniru vrijedi pravilo shot clocka s 40 sekundi za udarac po igraču. Fond nagrada je 250 000$, od čega 60 OOO$ je rezervirana za pobjednike. Osim Kineza po treći naslov idu i Filipinci Bustamante i Reyes koji su osvojili prvi World cup of pool 2006 godine te onaj iz 2009-te kada su u finalu pobijedili njemački par Souqueta i Hohmanna. Iako njih dvojica zajedno imaju 103 godine Bustamante je izjavio kako još uvijek imaju goriva za nastup pogotovo sada kada su naporno trenirali za ovaj turnir. Bustamante se i našalio dodavši kako kad jedan od njih promaši odmah im proradi artritis. Reyes je dodao kako puno ovisi i o publici za koju ne sumnjamo kako će ih nositi na ovom turniru te kako je upravo publika bila presudna u osvajanju titule 2009 godine. Turnir će biti uživo prenošen na Solar Sports a Matchroom će emitirati diljem svijeta 32h televizijskom matrijala. Službeni spozor turnira je partypoker.net.
