Torrance, CA • Brigham Young University / University of Phoenix ALL Murphy Su’a begins his fourth full-tme season as head coach of the Toros program, and ninth season overall at CSUDH. Su’a, 54, brings over 27 years of coaching experience and 23 years of field experience to the program. He walked on and played two seasons at LA Valley College (1976-77) without ever playing T

baseball in high school. He then transferred to Brigham Young University where he was an NCAA H Division I First-Team All-America selection in 1979. A First-Team All-Rocky Mountain Region and All- E 2010 TEA WAC selection, Su’a broke six Cougar single-season records for home runs, runs batted in, runs scored, doubles, total bases and at-bats. He was among the national leaders in home runs (22) and RBI (91) en route to leading BYU to the WAC Championship.

Invited to try out for the USA National Team, Su’a instead elected to sign with the Los Angeles M Dodgers in 1979 where he anchored third base for the Pioneer League Champions, Lethbridge Dodgers #27 (Canada). He played for the Class-A Lodi Dodgers in 1980 and was recognized as the Dodgers’ minor league system “Player of the Week” in July 1980. A hand injury ended a two-year stint with the Dodgers Year-by-Year organization, pushing Su’a to sign with the where he played four more years before Years Overall / CCAA (Finish) retiring. DO Now in his fourth season as Murphy Su’a’s right hand man, Lopez brings nearly 25 years of experience to the field, including a recent stint for the Chaminade College Prep varsity baseball team. Through his 17 years coaching at Chaminade, many of Lopez’s players have advanced to the professional level including Dan Runzler (), Jim Rapoport (NY Mets), Cody Haerther (Toronto Blue Jays), Ollie Linton (Arizona), and Gabe Crecion, drafted by the Yankees and also UCLA’s starting tight end. ORY In his playing days, Lopez was a starting pitcher at Grant High School. Upon graduation Lopez ST spent two years at L.A. Valley College before transferring to Eastern Oregon University. His experience encompasses numerous playing and coaching opportunities including co-head coach for Saints baseball,

2010 starting outfielder, Gilmore hit a solid .343 to lead the team, including 7 doubles, 3 home runs and 24 RBI in his 178 at bats, earning 2nd-team All-CCAA honors for his efforts. Returning to the Carson campus and the Toros baseball team in 2001 after an injury, Gilmore earned his way back into the starting line-up en route to batting .317 with 60 hits, 13 doubles, 5 home runs, and 30 RBI to remain a fixture in CSUDH’s offensive lineup. M Prior to CSUDH, Gilmore played two seasons at Rio Hondo JC where he led his team to a playoff berth his sophomore year with a .320 average. He also led in doubles and triples as a freshman. Aside from his three additional letters in baseball at Oakland HS where he earned All-OAL honors three straight years, he also competed in basketball his senior season, averaging 15 points per game.

hitting instruction, infield coaching and manning the third base line. H As a player, Tavelli saw action in the post-season two years, participating in the Pepperdine Regional E 2010 TEA in 2006, and the Louisiana State University Super Regional in 2008. Tavelli also spent two seasons with the Butte Community College Roadrunners, earning All-Conference honors. Always an infielder, Tavelli attended Oroville High School, earning numerous honors, including CIF-Northern Section All-Star,

Chico Enterprise Record Senior Male Athlete of the Year and setting the CIF-Northern Section single- M #8 season triple record at six. A graduate of UC Irvine, Tavelli received his bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Tavelli currently resides in Costa Mesa, Calif.

He experienced one of the biggest events and stages in college baseball as an infielder for UC Irvine in their 2006 and ‘08 playoff runs. Moondogs of the prestigious collegiate Northwoods League. The Moondogs were first-half Northern ALL HI Division Champs and finished one game behind the eventual division-winning Thunder Bay Border Cats. He also has high school coaching experience from serving as an assistant varsity coach for Head Coach Steve Vickery at San Diego powerhouse El Capitan High School.
