General Information

Zellhof is an old church-owned estate that has been developed by the Scouts and Guides under guidance of Monika and Adi Kronberger into an International camp site for young people managed by an international team of volunteers.

Situation: Zellhof is situated on the edge of the Grabensee lake, which is one of the warmest lakes for bathing in Salzburg Land, about 1,5 km from the village of Mattsee and 20 km north of the city of Salzburg.

Every group has its own sleeping rooms, kitchen and day room

Stöckl: House for self-catering groups 45 persons, minimum booking 30 persons 2 rooms for 10 persons in bunk beds 2 rooms for 10 persons in communal bunks 1 room for 2 persons Kitchen; dishes, cutlery, pots and pans are available 1 day room, heatable by a wood store Central heating Sanitary facilities: toilet, washroom and showers with warm and cold water. 1 apartment for 4 persons with kitchen unit, toilet and shower The apartment is a small independent accommodation unit, which can be booked in combination with the Stöckl or independently.

Nature Reservation area: Zellhof lies in the middle of a nature reservation area. Therefore campfires have to be at least 15 cm above ground level. No rain ditches (dams are more useful) and no trash pits or drainage of waste water. Outside the campsite: please stay on the walking paths and don’t walk through high grass.

Legislation: The youth protection legislation of the state of Salzburg, and the Austrian nature protection legislation apply to all Zellhof participants. The text of these legislations are available at the kiosk. Please read the accompanying camp rules!

Dogs: Dogs are not allowed at Pfadfinderdorf Zellhof.

Waste and cleaning: The communal facilities (toilets, washing rooms and paths) are cleaned by the groups each day on a rotation basis. For this purpose groups need to bring their own cleaning materials (buckets and brooms are available). Please separate trash at your own camp site and avoid unnecessary packaging material, Zellhof has its own recycling centre.

Kiosk: Please don’t bring any alcohol onto the site. Alcohol-free drinks, beer and wine are available at the kiosk. Hard liquor such as whiskey, vodka, etc… are not permitted at Zellhof.

Houses: People staying in the houses should each bring a sheet and sleeping bag.

Wood: There is plenty of construction wood of different sizes available for building (please don’t cut the poles). Fire wood is included in the price.

Swimming- and water activities: The Grabensee lake lies in a nature reserve and is a private bathing lake. Zellhof has the permission to use the lake from 07:00 to 20:00. Every group needs to have a swimming supervisor for its own members. Please follow the bathing and boat rules, which are available at the kiosk. Surfing, sailing and (improvised) rafts are not permitted at the Grabensee.

The Pfadfinderdorf Zellhof is a place where international meetings are made easy. Collective international activities are frequently organized by interested groups. All group leaders are invited to a camp meeting on Mondays on 21:00, where all initiatives for international activities can be discussed and prepared. The Wednesday evening has emerged as most prominent time for international activities. The Zellhof Team will help you with any needs you might have for this.

Program in the immediate area: Mattsee, cheese factory, mini golf, tennis, boat rental, beautiful hikes, nature trails, pipe factory, cycling roads, horse riding, etc…

Excursions: Salzburg city, Hohensalzburg castle, Hellbrunn palace with water games and zoo, natural history exhibition, museums, swimming pool, birthplace of Mozart,…. Großglockner (highest mountain in Austria), Salzkammergut lake , mountain hikes, Kaprun with summer skiing and alpine power-plant, Salzbergwerk, Tropfstein cave, ice caves, gorges, Silent Night chapel in Oberndorf, , Munich,……

Booking: Your booking is fixed when the dates are confirmed and the deposit has arrived in our bank account. The required deposit of 25% of the booking is not refundable should you cancel your visit. Please pay the balance in cash during your stay.

The Zellhof Team: The Zellhof Team consists of volunteer scouts from many different countries. We are happy to give you any information you need and help you to make your camp a success - you can always find us at the kiosk.
