ABOUT the Kentucky Association of REALTORS® The Kentucky Association of REALTORS® was founded in 1923 and represents close to 9,200 members who are involved in all aspects of real estate, including residential and commercial real estate brokers, sales agents, developers, builders, property managers, office managers, appraisers and auctioneers. As it stands, the Kentucky Association of REALTORS® (KAR) is one of the largest and most influential associations in Kentucky. KAR works diligently to preserve and enhance the rights and privileges of the owners of private property. Since its inception, KAR has worked successfully to advance home ownership, real estate investment, private property rights and the free enterprise system in Congress, the halls of Frankfort - the state capital - and with public officials from local and county agencies throughout Kentucky. The Association also exists to support and enhance the ability of members to succeed in their business in an ethical and competent manner. The Association is governed by a leadership team comprised of a President, Board of Directors and Delegate Body and served by volunteer committees. An important aspect of the many successes earned by the Kentucky Association of REALTORS® over the years is through the dedication of these volunteers who have contributed countless hours to its advancement. An association staff of 8, led by the Chief Executive Officer, is given the responsibility for the operations and implementation of the programs, products and services provided to its members. All KAR members belong to one or more of the 22 local REALTOR® associations statewide and the National Association of REALTORS®. By becoming a REALTOR®, members are designated by a registered trademark. The term “REALTOR®,” other derivatives of the word, and the “block ‘R’ logo" are limited to use by REALTORS®. Additionally, when an agent becomes a REALTOR®, he or she agrees to abide by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®' Code of Ethics, which ensures the highest level of professionalism from each individual member. Local associations, with support from the state and national associations, are charged with enforcement of the Code of Ethics and protection of the membership marks. The Kentucky Association of REALTORS® serves as a conduit to growth, knowledge and professionalism for its members and the real estate industry as a whole. The Association is committed to delivering its members the very finest tools and information to help them succeed - and to meet the needs of today's property buying and selling consumers. Members of KAR receive several invaluable benefits and privileges as a result of their membership. These benefits include educational offerings to satisfy industry requirements, lobbying efforts on multiple levels of government, arbitration and mediation for disputes and conflict resolution, governmental affairs support, political engagement through the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC), timely communications and publications about housing and real estate issues as well as meetings and other membership events. As "The Voice for Real Estate™ in Kentucky," a primary value of KAR is to serve and represent its members in regulatory and legislative matters; to keep the REALTOR® central to the real estate transaction; to promote member integrity, competency and responsible citizenship; and to advocate and protect private property rights and equal housing opportunity. Bottom Line: KAR helps protect a marketplace for consumers to buy, own and transfer real estate - a system that is emulated globally and one that REALTORS® dedicate themselves to protect. 161 Prosperous Place • Suite 100 • Lexington, KY 40509 • (800) 264-2185 ph • (859) 263-7565 fax • www.kar.com 2015 KAR & NAR Meeting Schedule KAR Legislative & Business Meeting Embassy Suites Lexington, KY February 2 - 5 NAR AE Institute Vancouver, BC, Canada March 13 - 16 NAR Legislative Meeting Washington, DC May 11 - 16 KAR Summer Business Meeting French Lick Resort French Lick, IN June 16 - 19 NAR Leadership Summit Chicago, IL August 10 - 11 KAR Annual Convention & Expo Owensboro Convention Center Owensboro, KY September 22 - 24 NAR Conference & Expo San Diego, CA November 13 - 16 KAR Leadership Conference Hyatt Regency Lexington, KY December 2 - 3 3 Kentucky Association of REALTORS® 161 Prosperous Place, Suite 100 Lexington, Kentucky 40509 Phone (859) 263-7377 Toll Free (800) 264-2185 Fax (859) 263-7565 Website www.kar.com Board of Directors Norman Jones President 01/15 – 12/15 Pikeville 606 - 794 - 6698 [email protected] Lamont Breland President-elect 01/15 – 12/15 Louisville 502 - 741 - 1861 [email protected] Michael Becker Treasurer 01/14 – 12/14 Villa Hills 859 - 380 - 5771 [email protected] Steve Cline Treasurer-elect 01/15 – 12/15 Bowling Green 270 - 791 - 4515 [email protected] Sandy Newell Region 1 Director 01/14 – 12/15 Madisonville 270 - 836 - 4541 [email protected] Molly Mattingly Region 2 Director 01/15 – 12/16 Bardstown 502 - 827 - 3003 [email protected] Lester Sanders Region 3 Director 01/15 – 12/15 Prospect 502 - 420 - 5000 [email protected] Linda Wiley Region 4 Director 01/13 – 15/16 Lexington 859 - 494 - 5678 [email protected] Mike Spicer Region 5 Director 02/14 – 12/15 Independence 859 - 341 - 9000 [email protected] Bill Leslie Region 6 Director 01/15 – 12/16 Burnside 606 - 271 - 2444 [email protected] Al Blevins Director-at-Large 01/15 – 12/17 Mt.
