Earl is the third member of her family to participate in the NCAA Tournament. Her two older brothers Danny (Penn State:1993-99) and Brian (Princeton:1995-99) played in the NCAA Division I men’s tournament. Earl’s father, Denny, played college basketball at Rutgers University. Druckenmiller’s older brother Jim was a star quarterback at Virginia Tech and was a first round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers. He also played for the Miami Dolphins. Courtney Mix’s father Steve played in the NBA from 1969-83 for the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers and is currently a 76er broadcaster. Courtney’s older sister Stephanie played college basketball at Drexel University from 1996-00. TRAINING ROOM REPORT: It has been a busy year for Villanova women’s basketball trainer Joanna Franklin-Range. After having no player miss a game last year due to injury, the Wildcats have been hit hard by the injury bug this season. The injuries started in the fifth game of the season versus St, Joseph’s when junior guard Trish Juhline broke her left foot that sidelined her for seven games. In her absence, Villanova managed a 4-3 record. Early in the Syracuse game on Feb. 2, senior point guard Mimi Riley sprained her ankle and was only able to play 10 minutes in the loss to the Orangewomen. Riley also missed Villanova’s 49-45 loss at No. 23 North Carolina. During warm-ups versus St. John’s on Jan. 6, senior center Stephanie Baker broke her thumb. Baker did not miss any game action, but has been forced to wear a protective cast the remainder of the year. Junior forward Nicole Druckenmiller has also suffered from a foot injury that has limited her practice time. In the 19 games that Villanova has had its full team for the entire game, the Wildcats are 15-4. THE MAGIC 60: Reaching the 60 point plateau has been lucky for the Villanova Wildcats over the years. Dating back to the 1997-98 season, the Wildcats are 69-19 when scoring 60 or more points, including a 13-4 mark this season.
