WASH. 105(3), 1992, pp. 575-584 DESCRIPTION OF THE MATURE FEMALE AND EPICARIDIUM LARVA OF CABIROPS MONTEREYENSIS SASSAMAN FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (CRUSTACEA: ISOPODA: CABIROPIDAE) Clay Sassaman Abstract. —The cryptoniscoid isopod Cabirops montereyensis Sassaman, pre- viously known only from Monterey Bay, California, has been collected at Malibu, California. Diagnostic characters of the cryptoniscus larva are illus- trated with scanning electron microscopy and the mature female and epicari- dium larva are described. The mature female exhibits characteristics typical of most species in the genus, especially those parasitic on pseudionine bopyrids. The epicaridium larva differs from other described Cabiropidae in details of the appendages and in the possession of a prominent anal tube. Abstract Three new species of the bopyrid genus Scyracepon Tattersall, 1905 are described from crabs collected on Pacific Islands: Scyracepon polynesiensis n. sp. from the Society Islands, S. pseudoliomerae n. sp. from the Mariana Islands, and S. biglobosus n. sp. from the Line Islands. The first two were found infesting Xanthias lamarckii and Pseudoliomera sp. (Xanthidae), a new host family for species of Scyracepon, and the last was found parasitizing Schizophrys aspera (Majidae). Scyracepon now includes 11 species, all but one known from single collections, infesting 12 host species in 9 brachyuran families. The discovery of three new species, each rare, suggests that crab parasites are undersampled, and further suggests that the low relative diversity of bopyrids known from brachyurans may partly reflect this undersampling. -

We are pleased and honored to welcome at the Paléospace Museum of Villers-sur-Mer the “6th Symposium on Mesozoic and Cenozoic Decapod Crustaceans”. Villers-sur-Mer is a place universally known by specialists and amateurs of palaeontology due to its famous Vaches Noires cliffs. Villers-sur-Mer has also the distinction of being the only French seaside resort located on the Greenwich Meridian line. The Paléospace is a Museum funded in 2011 with the label Musée de France. Three main animations linked to the Time are presented: palaeontology, astronomy and nature with the neighbouring marsh. The museum is in a constant evolution. For instance, an exhibition specially dedicated to dinosaurs was opened two years ago and a planetarium will open next summer. Every year a very high quality temporary exhibition takes place during the summer period with very numerous animations during all the year. The Paléospace does not stop progressing in term of visitors (56 868 in 2015) and its notoriety is universally recognized both by the other museums as by the scientific community. We are very proud of these unexpected results. We thank the dynamism and the professionalism of the Paléospace team which is at the origin of this very great success. We wish you a very good stay at Villers-sur-Mer, a beautiful visit of the Paléospace and especially an excellent congress. Épicarides Et Rhizocéphales De Roscoff
ÉPICARIDES ET RHIZOCÉPHALES DE ROSCOFF. par Roland Bourdon. Station Biologique de Roscoff. Bien que les Epicarides et les Rhizocéphales de Roscoff aient fait l'objet de diverses recherches, notamment de la part de Ch. Pérez (1), aucun inventaire des espèces n’en avait encore été dressé. Les formes signalées par les différents auteurs étaient d’ailleurs assez peu nom breuses puisqu’elles ne dépa-ssaient pas la vingtaine. Les prospections qu’il nous a été donné d’effectuer, tant à la côte qu’en dragage, depuis septembre 1960, nous ont montré que la région de Roscoff est, en fait, beaucoup plus riche en parasites, leur nombre s’élevant, en effet, à 52 espèces parasitant 48 hôtes différents. De même que nous l’avons fait dans une note précédente (Bour don, 1960), nous accompagnerons la présente liste d’une statistique d’infestation pour chaque espèce et, éventuellement, de quelques remarques d’ordre morphologique ou éthologique, réservant à plus tard la publication d’un travail systématique et biologique d’ensemble sur la faune des Epicarides des côtes de France. RHIZOCÉPHALES. Famille des Peltogas+ridae. SEPTOSACCUS RODRIGUEZI (Fraisse, 1876). Hôte : Diogenes pugilator (Roux, 1829). Matériel examiné : 2.851 individus. Fréquence : 219 cas, soit un taux d’infestation de 7,7 p. 100. Stations : Saint-Efflam ; également Locquirec, d’après Pérez (1928). Remarques. — Des taux d’infestation nettement plus élevés ont été donnés pour cette espèce à Saint-Efflam. C’est ainsi que Pérez (1928, 1929) trouvait un degré de parasitisme d’environ 40 p. 100 et que Veillet (1951) indiquait que le quart des Diogenes portait le Septosaccus. -
